ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT


The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was started in the year 2015. It offers
Undergraduate Programme, B. Tech Computer Science & Engineering, which prepares students for
the current and future demands of industry and the research world.

The Department offers a Master’s Programme namely, M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering. This
programme prepares students to become leaders in knowledge driven professions.

In order to provide ample opportunity for innovation and research, the department offers Doctoral
Programme (PhD) in Computer Science & Engineering and allied areas.

The Department has collaborated with NTTF to offer Two Vocational Degree Programmes namely, B.Voc
in Information Technology (Data Analytics), and B.Voc in Computer Engineering & IT Infrastructure.
B.Voc is a three-year duration undergraduate programme. This program builds specific job skills in
students so that they can serve the industries better.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) has twenty five faculty members with
the doctorate degree and twenty perusing the doctoral studies Programs offered by the Department
include all sub disciplines and intellectual enterprises of Computer Science and Engineering Discipline.

The faculty members in the Department are active in the Research Areas of Artificial Intelligence,
Machine Learning, Data Science, Network Security, Networks & IoT. Wireless Networks, Block Chain
Technologies, Big Data, Data Mining, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Image Processing, Computer
Vison and Video Analytics, Information Retrieval, etc. Apart from core courses, the Department also
offers Liberal Studies Courses (as per NEP- 2020). Liberal studies focuses on creating synergy
between Humanities, Social Sciences, Performing arts, Law, Management, Fine Arts, Yoga, Painting, Music
etc.

Department has well equipped and state-of-the-art Laboratories to train students in various
technologies. The Department also makes use of the Innovation Laboratories such as NVidia’s High
Performance Computing Lab & Analog Devices Lab to train its UG and PG students in the respective
technology areas and research.

The Department also conducts value added courses on emerging technologies and industry specific
domains. These courses are conducted beyond college hours/summer semester by the faculty of the
department. The Department has MoU’s with IT Industries like NVIDIA, Analog Devices, UiPath and
CodeChef. Department also has several MOU’s with academia such as Nokia University, Purdue
Indiana University. The Department encourages students to take up MOOC based online courses in
NPTEL, Coursera, Udacity and edX. The Department organizes Symposia, Exhibitions, Conferences,
Seminars, Hackathons, and Workshops for both students and Faculty.

The Department has many Adjunct Professors/Professor of Practice who typically have positions at
Industry or other institutions to bring in the industry expertise and research regour in our
programmes. provide specialized supervision of student projects.

The students of CSE Department are placed in various top MNCs like IBM, Accenture, Capgemini,
Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, Mindtree, Intel, Mercedes Benz, Sap Labs etc. with an emolument in the range
of 4.78 Lakhs to 27 Lakhs per annum.

SEMINAR: TECHNOLOGY IN NEUROSCIENCES


Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Department of International
Affairs conducted an enlightening seminar on the fascinating subject of
<Technology in Neurosciences= on 9th October, 2023 at School of Engineering,
Dayananda Sagar University, Harohalli Campus, Bangalore. The esteemed
resource person was Dr. Prof. Harry W.M. Steinbusch from Maastricht University,
Netherlands. More than 200 students attended the session. His profound expertise
and wealth of knowledge left an indelible mark, serving as a profound source of
inspiration and motivation for our students, igniting their passion for innovation and
propelling them towards excellence in their academic pursuits.

WORKSHOP: LEAN-AGILE FOR PRODUCT


DEVELOPMENT & ENGINEERING-AN OVERVIEW
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has successfully conducted
a one day workshop on <Lean-Agile for product development & Engineering-An
Overview=, on 31st October, 2023 at School of Engineering, Dayananda Sagar
University, Kudlu Gate, Bangalore.The objective of the workshop is to train the 5th
semester Computer Science and Engineering students who have opted Agile
Software Engineering as Elective course. A total of 60 participants have attended
the workshop.The session was engaged by Mr. Prakash Bettadapur, CEO-ArchTech
Agile Solutions, Silicon Valley, California, USA. Organized by Prof. Naitik
and Dr. Mouleeswaran.

Inhouse Technical Discussion with Team from Mazumdar Shaw Medical Foundation
(MSMF)

The team from Mazumdar Shaw Medical Foundation (MSMF) Mr. Kiran Vuppalla,
Head of Operations MSMF and Salai Jeyaseelan Annamalai Chief Engineer MSMF
had visited for an inhouse technical discussion with the DSU faculty team on 10th
October,2023 in Kudlu Gate Campus. The key take away was MSMF team will get
us the real time medical data from various hospitals across India and provide it to
researchers, faculty, students based on the project requirement. They will also
allow us to use the medical facility, help in taking the problem statement from idea
to POC, also assist in validation, testing and also animal trials if any. MOU and NDA
with MSMF will be signed regarding the same. Dr. M. K. Banga, Dr. Lakshmi and team
from DERBI, Prof Baskar Venugopalan, Dr. Basavaraj Hiremath, Dr. Revathi V., Dr.
Ravinder Singh, Dr. Arunkumar Gopu, Prof. Ranjini and Dr. Pramod Kumar Naik
were present during the meeting. MSMF would also help us to connect to doctors
and jointly apply for fundings.

TRENDS AND ENTREPRENEURIAL STRATERGIES FOR
STARTUPS
Department of Computer Science and Engineering & Research and Innovation Cell
has organized a seminar on <Unlocking Opportunities: Technology trends and
entrepreneurial Strategies for Startups= on 11th October, 2023 at School of
Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University, Kudlu Gate, Bangalore. Mr. Ganesh Nag
Doddi, Founder And CEO , Brainovision India Pvt Ltd was the resource person of
the event. The seminar was organized for Computer Science and Engineering 3rd
year students. The seminar was an enlightening journey, offering valuable insights
and actionable ideas for startups navigating the ever-evolving business

Faculty and Student Involvement : Global Bio- India 2023


Faculty, students, and researchers from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
Department attended the Global Bio-India 2023 event at the Majumdar Shaw Medical
Foundation. Both student teams and faculty teams showcased their healthcare projects
at the event. This not only highlights the department's commitment to innovation but
also provides a platform for sharing their work with a broader audience. The presence
of esteemed guests, including Mrs. Richa Vashishta (Manager, BIRAC), Mrs. Ankitha
Kumar (Co-founder, Mocxa), and Mr. Nikhil Cartosense, suggests the event attracted
notable figures in the industry. Students were encouraged to apply for E-Yuva and
Sitara funding from BIRAC. This indicates a proactive approach to securing financial
support for the innovative projects presented at the event. The fact that doctors with
their own companies expressed interest in student resumes suggests potential
internship opportunities for students within these healthcare-focused enterprises. The
event provided an excellent networking opportunity, facilitating connections between
students, faculty, startup CTOs, founders, doctors, and researchers. Such networking
can lead to collaboration, mentorship, and future partnerships on 25th November 2023.

WORKSHOP ON CAREER LAUNCHPAD


The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Full stack
development has successfully conducted a one-day workshop on "Career Launchpad: A
comprehensive guide to placement, higher studies and Entrepreneurship opportunities"
on November 23, 2023 at Dayananda Sagar University, Harohalli, Bangalore. The session
was led by Mr.Harsh Singh, Former SDE Intern @Fidelity Investments|2023 Google
Summer of Code|Specialist @CodeForces|knight@Leetcode and V U Bushra ,Senior
Software Developer @Birlasoft,Speaker,Entrepreneur.The workshop was organized by
Dr.Basavaraj N Hiremath, Dr.Pramod Kumar Naik and Dr.Gousia Thahniyath. Their
involvement underscores the commitment of the faculty to providing students with
comprehensive guidance and support in navigating career options. This workshop
appears to be a valuable initiative in preparing students not only for placements but also

In a proactive step towards shaping the future careers of its students, the Department
of Computer Science at Dayananda Sagar University recently organized a
comprehensive placement training program for 3rd semester students. The event, held
on November 15, 2023, aimed to equip students with the necessary skills and insights
to excel in the competitive job market. The placement training program was tailored to
meet the unique needs of 3rd semester students, providing them with a head start in their
journey towards securing internships and placements. The event witnessed active
participation from a significant number of 3rd semester students, highlighting their

DSU ACM Student Chapter : Byte Bounty


Computer Science and Engineering in association with ACM student chapter conducted a
competition <Byte Bounty= on 24th November,2023. The objective of the event was
to make the students familiar with Capture The Flag (CTF) event. CTF is one of the best
ways for students to hone their technical skills in the field of Cyber security. CTF requires
participants to join forces as a team, helping individuals learn to work together to tackle

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has conducted Alumni Talk Series-
Session-3 on <Generative AI: Building Tomorrow’s World with AGI= on 25th
November, 2023. 53 CSE students have registered and participated in this event.
The objectives of this session were:

and practitioners.
2. To understand the adoption, impact, and future trends of artificial intelligence in

3.To demystify their diverse forms, highlight real-world applications, and explore how

Launch of Skill Enhancement Course


<Linux Programming Fundamentals”
In a landmark collaboration between Dayananda Sagar University and Infosys, an
innovative chapter in education has unfolded with the launch of the Infosys Springboard
course on <Linux Programming Fundamentals=. The much-anticipated course, unveiled at
the Harohalli Campus on 1st of December, 2023, promises to complement and amplify the
skills of students enrolled in the university’s Skill Enhancement program. As the tech
industry continues to evolve, proficiency in Linux programming has become an invaluable
asset. The Infosys Springboard course is designed to equip students with essential skills,

students but also resilient and mindful individuals, an enlightening event: "Mindful Living
for a Healthy Tomorrow" has been organized at the Harohalli Campus on 4th of
December, 2023 for the 3rd semester CSE students. The distinguished resource person for
this event was Dr. Keerthana N Gowda, Assistant Professor, Department of Community
Medicine, Dr. Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Institute of Medical Education and
Research, DSU, Harohalli. The event was organized by passionate educators who
understand the significance of life skills in a student's journey Dr. Basavaraj N. Hiremath,

A two-day workshop on Development of

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has organized a two-day
workshop on "Development of Entrepreneurial Skills" on the 8th and 9th of
December,2023 at the Harohalli Campus. This empowering event was led by the
esteemed Mr. Vivek Tonapi, Chief Nurturer at Potentialtree. The workshop was a
unique opportunity for students to not only develop entrepreneurial skills but also learn
practical strategies for translating ideas into successful ventures.

FLASK FIESTA(INTERNAL HACKATHON)


The Department of Computer Science and Engineering has organized a coding spectacle
like never before <Flask Fiesta=, an internal hackathon by our dynamic Career Club
at Dayananda Sagar University, Kudlu Gate Campus on 8th of December,2023. With a
resounding participation of 38 students from the 5th Semester CSE, the event brought
together aspiring coders and web developers eager to showcase their skills and creativity.
The highlight of the event was the presentation phase, where eight teams presented their
meticulously crafted websites infront of a seasoned jury. The air was thick with
anticipation as each team demonstrated their unique approach to web development
using Flask, a micro web framework for Python. The jury, comprised of esteemed
members Dr. Gousia T, Prof.Amruta, and Prof. Pranamy C, had the arduous task of
selecting the top three teams. These talented teams not only showcased their technical
prowess but also demonstrated innovation and creativity in their Flask-based projects.
The event was organized by Dr. Revathi V, Associate Professor, CSE, DSU and also Student
Coordinators - Nuthan B, Mokka Hema Sai, and Mohammed Kaifulla Kazim. Their
meticulous planning, coordination, and leadership played a pivotal role in making Flask
Fiesta a grand success.

Club Activity: Career Chronicles Forum


Career Club on behalf of Department of Computer Science and Engineering
conducted an event <Career Chronicles Forum= on 23rd November 2023 to facilitate
the exchange of insights from seasoned professionals, offering guidance to aspiring
individuals on career paths and success strategies while fostering mentorship and
igniting career inspiration. The speakers for the event were Mr.Adithya Sarwade,
Ms.Ruby Seher, Mr. Inesh Rao. The faculty Coordinator was Dr.Revathi V, Associate
Professor,CSE.
