PROPERTIES OF WATER

Water's unique qualities include its high heat capacity and heat of vaporization, ability to dissolve polar molecules, cohesive and adhesive capabilities, and
dissociation into ions, which leads to the production of pH.

Cohesive and Adhesive properties

Adhesion and cohesion are water properties that affect every water molecule on Earth and also the interaction of water molecules with molecules of other
substances. Essentially, cohesion and adhesion are the "stickiness" that water molecules have for each other and for other substances.

Molecular Structure of water

A water molecule is made up of two hydrogen atoms connected to one oxygen atom. The shape of the molecule is bent because the oxygen atom not only bonds with
the hydrogen atoms but also has two pairs of unshared electrons.
What are waters 4 important properties? (explain each briefly)

-Cohesion and Adhesion.

-Temperature Moderation.

-Low Density of Ice.

-Ability to Dissolve Other Substances.

What are the 5 main properties of water?

{ayaw lang apila og sulat ang naka parenthesis}

Unique properties of water

• Water is polar. …("polar" refers to the molecule's uneven distribution of electrical charges.)

• Water is an excellent solvent. …(Water is an excellent solvent because its polar nature allows it to effectively dissolve a wide variety of substances, making
it essential for various biological and chemical processes.)

• Water has high heat capacity. ...(Water has high heat capacity because it can absorb and store a lot of heat energy, which helps regulate temperature and
stabilize environments like oceans and living organisms.)

• Water has high heat of vaporization. …(Water's high heat of vaporization means it requires a lot of energy to change from a liquid to a gas, which is why it
takes longer for water to evaporate compared to other liquids.)

• Water is less dense as a solid than as a liquid…(Water becomes less heavy when it freezes because its molecules arrange in a way that takes up more
space, making ice less dense than liquid water.)
IMF

There are 3 different forms of water, or H2O: solid (ice), liquid (water), and gas (steam). Because water seems so ubiquitous, many people are unaware of
the unusual and unique properties of water, including:

-Boiling Point and Freezing Point

-Surface Tension, Heat of Vaporization, and Vapor Pressure

-Solid State

-Liquid State

-Gas State

Surface Tension, Heat of Vaporization, and Vapor Pressure

Water's unique properties include high surface tension, low vapor pressure due to hydrogen bonding, viscosity due to intermolecular forces, and high
cohesion, enabling it to form droplets and fill containers without spilling.

Solid state (Ice)

Water's unique behavior during freezing is due to its slowing down molecules, forming a crystalline structure that makes ice less dense and allowing it to
float. This expansion, caused by hydrogen bonding, can cause overflow in glass and freezer bursts.

Boiling and Freezing Point (ayaw apila ang naka parenthesis kai for context og insight lang nah..)

Water's high boiling and freezing points are due to its hydrogen bonds, making it a highly energy-intensive substance. Boiling requires breaking these bonds,
requiring a significant amount of heat to reach 100°C, and freezing takes time due to water molecules' resistance to releasing each other. These high boiling
and freezing points are crucial for life on Earth, as they maintain ecosystem stability, prevent chaos in oceans, lakes, and our bodies, and help cool us down
during sweating.

{Water's high boiling and freezing points are due to its hydrogen bonds, which make it a highly energy-intensive substance, despite being composed of only
two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Before water can start boiling, we need to break these strong bonds between the molecules. That's why it takes
a lot of heat to make water boil—100°C to be exact. The same goes for freezing. Water molecules don't want to let go of each other easily, so it takes them a
long time to slow down and freeze. That's why water freezes at 0°C.

-High boiling and freezing points of water are super important for life on Earth. If water boiled or froze too easily, it would cause chaos for living things in
oceans, lakes, and even our bodies. This stability helps keep ecosystems healthy and even helps us cool down when we sweat.}

Liquid State (Liquid Water)

Water being liquid at room temperature, despite lacking carbon, allows faster molecular movement with fewer hydrogen bonds than its solid form,
maintaining close packing in a mobile tetrahedral arrangement, contrasting with the larger, hexagonal structure of ice.

Gas State (Steam)

Boiling water breaks hydrogen bonds, causing steam particles to spread apart quickly, causing more severe burns due to energy transfer from liquid water
