5.1 MS-FRONTPAGE
 Internet- Networks of networks is the world’s largest computer network
connecting millions of computers across the world.
 The WWW which is a system based on HTML (Hypertext Markup Language)
and HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol). It is WWW which makes it possible to
share information between disparate groups of users, computers and Operating
system.
 A web page is an electronic page like any other computer document. Web pages
are uploaded and downloaded through HTTP- a method used to transfer
hypertext files across the Internet.
 Web pages can be created through a vast variety of programmers. One can create
web pages through Ms-Word, Ms-Excel, Ms-Excel, Ms-PowerPoint and Ms-
Access also.
 We can create and manage complete web site through the Front Page package.
Because of its complete integration with other Ms-Office components like word,
Excel and PowerPoint, Front page is increasingly becoming the preferred choice
for non-professional web designers.
 FrontPage has eight different types of standard templates using which one can
create different web sites of varying degrees of complexity and sophistication-
starting from a single page web site to a complete corporate and a customer
support site.
5.2 Creating and managing web sites

5.3 FORMATTING WEBSITES
Most powerful features in Front Page Provides the ability to format all your
web pages at once. Adding Headers and Footers are set to all your web pages at once.
Headers and footers that automatically contain updated links to the rest of your web
sites.
5.3.1 Using Themes to format your website:
A theme is a coherent set of colors, shapes and fonts that are used in all your web
pages.
Following themes are used to format the web site:
1. To create a theme for your web site, select Format, Theme.
2. Click any theme to see it previewed in the sample of theme
window.
3. When you have found the theme you like, click OK. Front page updates
all the pages in your website to include the selected theme.
5.3.2 Creating shared borders
Shared borders are areas at the top, bottom left and right of a web page that are
automatically replicated on all the pages of a web site. Front page allows you to put text
and graphics in shared borders.
To specify that your website should use shared borders, do the following.
1. If you wish to turn shared borders On or Off for a specific web page,
highlight it in the folders pane.
2. Choose Format, shared borders.
3. Choose all pages or selected page.
4. Specify the borders you wish to create, and then click OK.
To edit the contents of a shared border, display any page that contains that
border in the page view. Click in the border, and add or edit the desired text or graphic
object when you save the page, all other pages containing that shared border will be
updated.
5.3.3 Creating automatic links with navigation bars
 To leverage the power of shared borders you can add automatic links
to other pages in you web by using the navigation bars feature.
 A navigation bar will automatically display the titles of other linked
web pages as they are defined in the navigation view.
 When you create a FrontPage web using the web site templates,
navigation bars are automatically created for you.
 If you do not have a navigation bar, you can create one as follows:
1. Open a page containing the shared border in page view.
2. Double click to see that the page has the appropriate shared border,
and create it as described earlier in “creating shared Borders” if it does
not.
3. Click the shared border where you want the navigation bar to appear.
4. Choose Insert, Navigation bar.
5. Choose which pages you would like your navigation bar to contain
and whether the bar should contain the home and parent page in
addition to others you select. Choose orientation and appearance of
your navigation bar.
6. Click Ok. You see the navigation bar in your shared border.
5.4 CREATING A WEBPAGE WITH WIZARD
There are 8 types of wizards from which one can pick the one required. Wizards
are very user friendly and guide us through step by step instructions about how to
create a web page.
 Improving Home page
A home page is like display window in a shop. The more attractively you display your
goods there, the more customers will be enticed into coming into your shop. Similarly
the home page should be an attractive and it should contain an overall introduction
about the site so that people visit the site more frequently.
Following Hyperlinks
1. Click on this hyperlink and press control key from the keyboard and
simultaneously click your mouse left button to follow the hyperlink.
2. Now click on the banner text and then right click your mouse on it.
3. The following roll down menu would be displayed choose page banner
properties from it.
4. Give the name of the link that you want to change the page to.
5. Click on OK button to continue.
5.5 CREATE A WEB PAGE WITHOUT A WIZARD
Creating a webpage without a wizard
There are two ways to create a web page,
 Create a Web Page with a wizard.
 Create a Web page without a wizard.
Start MS- FrontPage
 Choose MS Front Page from MS office option from programs menu
from start menu.
 Alternatively you can also click on Ms Front Page icon from the MS
Shortcut bar.
 MS Front Page opens a blank new web page.
 Choose web command from new option from file menu. The dialog
box would be displayed.
1. Click on one page web icon.
2. Give the location of your web.
3. Click on Ok button to continue.
Creating Homepage
 Click on Draw Table icon from this toolbar.
 Now draw a box, divide this box into various segments to make
home page title to give links to other sites and given an
introduction to the web site.
Adding your company logo
 Choose From file command from picture option from insert menu.
 Specify the folder in which your image or logo is saved.
 Click on the image file.
 Click on OK button to continue.
Click on the logo.
Place your mouse on the corner and when it turns into a black two-header arrow, click
the mouse and keeping the button pressed drag it to resize the logo.
Removing Borders

1. Click on normal tab to change to


normal view.
2. Click inside the table. Now right click
here you will see the menu.
3. Click on Table properties.
4. These buttons help to increase or
decrease thickness. Decrease the border thickness to 0.
5. Click on OK button to continue
Saving a web page:
a) Choose save command from file menu.
b) Choose the folder in which you want to save your files.
c) Give the filename here.
d) Click on save button.
e) Click on OK button to continue.
Inserting Links
1. Type the name of the link that you want to make.
2. Now highlight it and right click with your
mouse on it.
3. The following roll down menu would be
displayed. Choose hyperlink command
from this menu.

4. Choose the folder that you want to save


the hyperlink in. Usually the hyperlink is saved in the same folder that you have
created for the web site.
5. Give the hyperlink name. It should be same as the link that you are trying to
create.
6. Click on OK button to continue.
Changing Font and Font color
1. Highlight the text.
2. Choose Font command from format menu.
3. Choose Comic Sans MS font from the font list.
4. Choose size 14pt from the font size list.
5. Click on the font color pull down list and choose the color purple to change the
font color.
6. Click on OK button to continue.

Inserting Pictures
1. Click on the place where
you want to insert your
picture.
2. Choose ClipArt command from picture option from insert menu.
3. Click on business category.
4. Click on the picture you want to insert. A shortcut menu would be displayed.
5. Drag the picture to the location where you want the picture.
6. Click on the picture. Drag it to resize it.
Saving the work
1. Choose save command from file menu.
2. Click on Ok button to continue.
Previewing the webpage
 Click on the preview tab.
 Preview shows you how your current page will look in a web browser.
5.6 CREATE A WEB THROUGH A WIZARD
1. Choose Web command from New option from File menu. The following
dialog box would be displayed.
2. Click on the type of wizard that you want to start.
3. Give the location of your new web.
4. Click on Ok button to continue.
5.6.1 Modifying Your HomePage
1. Click on the HomePage title. Then right click on it. The following roll down
menu would be displayed. Now click on Page Banner Properties. The following
dialog box would be displayed.
2. Click on Text radio-button.
3. Change the Page Banner text by clicking in this box and typing the banner text
here. (Ex: SOWDESWARI COLLEGE)
4. Click on Ok button to continue.

5.6.2 Changing the Font Color


To make our text more beautiful and attractive we can change the color of the
font.
 Click on the Page Banner to highlight it.
 Click on the Font Color icon to change the color of the font.
 Click on the color Red to apply it to the text.
5.6.3 Formatting Text
1. Click on the title again.
2. Choose Comic Sans MS font from the font pull down list.
3. Click on the font size pull down list and change the font size to 6(24 pt). Click
outside in the page anywhere.
