• Engineered with new Daikin’s patented inverter compressor technology which is smaller, lightweight, and optimized for part
load efficiencies with TCSPF up to 7.25.
• Innovative sealed E-box technology with IP55 rating for protection from gecko, insects, dust, water and snow ingress.
• Design flexibility to enlarge system from single to dual module without changes to installed main pipe sizes.
• Industry leading piping with vertical separation up to 110 m.
• Hot gas defrost circuit allows installation without base pan heater.
• Defrost operation before the equipment is shut down speeds up the increase of discharge air temperature of the next heating
operation.
• Defrost learning function optimises the next cycle defrost start conditions to extend the heating operation time when the
deforest operation time is limited.
• Outdoor temperature operation range limit is extended to 52°CDB in cooling operation and -25°CWB in heating operation.
• The average automatic charging operation time has been shortened by 22% (14 min), and the number of on-site operations
has been reduced by performing the automatic refrigerant charging and test run at the same time.
• Service window provides quick access to multi-functional display and configuration buttons.
• Multi-functional display provides refrigerant pressures and temperatures eliminating the need to connect gauges during regular
maintenance check.
• VRT Smart II control: coordination between indoor and outdoor units minimizes energy consumption by optimizing capacity to
meet actual operation load. Further improvement of energy savings is achieved due to optimal control of the outdoor airflow
rate.
• Engineered to optimize capital on phased & tenant fit out commercial buildings.

6. Capacity Range
6.1 For VRV Indoor Units Only
6.1.1 Connection Ratio
Notes:
1. For indoor units used for cooling only, total capacity index must be 50% or less than the capacity index of the outdoor units.
2. If the operational capacity of indoor units is more than 130%, low airflow operation is enforced in all the indoor units.
* When outdoor-air processing units (FXMQ-MF, FXMQ-AF) and standard indoor units are connected, the total connection capacity of the
outdoor-air processing units must not exceed 30% of the capacity index of the outdoor units for FXMQ-MF or B% of the capacity index of the
outdoor units, depending on the connection ratio A%, for FXMQ-AF. And the connection ratio must not exceed 100% for FXMQ-MF and 130%
for FXMQ-AF.
Because connection is possible depending on conditions even when the capacity index of FXMQ-MF exceeds 30% of the capacity index of the
outdoor units, contact your local distributor.
15
RXYQ8-60BYM EDTRAU342315-D
Notes:
*1. Values inside brackets are based on connection of indoor units rated at maximum capacity, 200% for RXYQ8-20BYM, 180% for
RXYQ22/24BYM, 160% for double outdoor units, and 130% for triple outdoor units.
*2. When outdoor-air processing units (FXMQ-MF, FXMQ-AF) and standard indoor units are connected, the total connection capacity of the
outdoor-air processing units must not exceed 30% of the capacity index of the outdoor units for FXMQ-MF or B% of the capacity index of
the outdoor units, depending on the connection ratio A%, for FXMQ-AF. And the connection ratio must not exceed 100% for FXMQ-MF and
130% for FXMQ-AF.

14.Selection Procedure
14.1 Selection Procedure
14.1.1 Flowchart
Given Conditions:
· Design temperature and humidity (indoor & outdoor)
[1] Given conditions · Required heat load of each room
· System peak load ( if necessary)
· Piping length, level difference
· Specifications of indoor units (type and number)
Define safety factor for the indoor units and outdoor unit
[2] Selection of indoor units
Indoor unit capacity corrected for indoor air temperature (WB) ≥ Required heat load × Safety factor for the indoor units
1) Use the sum of the peak load of each room 2) Use the system peak load
Provisionally select outdoor unit type and size based on limitation of connection ratio
Confirm that the number of indoor units connected to the outdoor unit is within limitation.
Correct for cooling & heating capacity of the outdoor unit by the following items
-Outdoor air temperature -Piping length, level difference
-Indoor air temperature -Piping heat loss
-Connection ratio -Safety factor for the outdoor unit
-Defrost (only for heating capacity)
No
Corrected capacity of the outdoor unit ≥ Required total heat load to the outdoor unit
Yes
64
RXYQ8-60BYM EDTRAU342315-D
The following is a selection example based on total heat load for cooling.
Room H Room G
Room A Room F
Room B Room E
Room C Room D
Floor plan
-Determine peak load of each room (and system peak load if necessary)
From the above heat load calculation, the maximum heat load for the system (system peak load) is 51.2 kW.
-Safety factor
In this example, safety factor is not used. (i. e., safety factor = 1.0)
65
RXYQ8-60BYM EDTRAU342315-D
TC : Total capacity: kW
SHC : Sensible heat capacity: kW
∗In case of selection based on Total Heat Load and Sensible Heat Load, select indoor units which satisfy not only the Total
Heat Load but also the Sensible Heat Load of each room. The sensible heat capacity of indoor units is to be corrected for
indoor air temperature. If the design temperature of indoor air falls between temperatures listed in table, calculate sensible
heat capacity by using the bypass factor calculated by interpolation for each indoor air temperature.

In cooling mode, heat loss factor per meter at 33°C is calculated as below.
Heat loss factor per meter = 0.022 + (0.030 – 0.022) × (33 – 30) / (35 – 30) = 0.0268
Using "Equivalent piping length = 76 m" and "Heat loss factor per meter = 0.0268"
(K2) = 1 + (0.0268 × (76 – 7.5)) / 100 = 1.018
Cooling Ambient temperature
Heat loss factor per 5°C 10°C 15°C 20°C 25°C 30°C 35°C 40°C

If the corrected capacity (C) is the same or greater than the required total heat load (A), selection is complete.
If (C) < (A), return to Procedure [3]-2 and provisionally select a larger outdoor unit.

The installer and system specialist shall secure safety against leakage according to local regulations or standards. The following standards may
be applicable if local regulations are not available.
This system uses R410A as refrigerant. R410A itself is an entirely safe non-toxic, non-combustible refrigerant. Nevertheless care must be taken
to ensure that air conditioning facilities are installed in a room which is sufficiently large. This assures that the maximum concentration level of
refrigerant gas is not exceeded, in the unlikely event of major leak in the system and this in accordance to the local applicable regulations and
standards.
The maximum charge of refrigerant and the calculation of the maximum concentration of refrigerant is directly related to the humanly occupied
space in to which it could leak.
The unit of measurement of the concentration is kg/m3 (the weight in kg of the refrigerant gas in 1m3 volume of the occupied space).
Compliance to the local applicable regulations and standards for the maximum allowable concentration level is required.
86
RXYQ8-60BYM EDTRAU342315-D
Check the maximum concentration level in accordance with steps 1 to 4 below and take whatever action is necessary to comply.
1 Calculate the amount of refrigerant (kg) charged to each system separately.
+ =
Amount of refrigerant in a single unit system Additional charging amount (amount of
(amount of refrigerant with which the system is refrigerant added locally in accordance with the Total amount of refrigerant (kg) in the system
charged before leaving the factory) length or diameter of the refrigerant piping)
NOTICE
Where a single refrigerant facility is divided into 2 entirely independent refrigerant systems, use the amount of refrigerant with
which each separate system is charged.
2 Calculate the volume of the room (m3) where the indoor unit is installed.
In a case such as the following, calculate the volume of (A), (B) as a single room or as the smallest room.
A Where there are no smaller room divisions:
B Where there is a room division, but there is an opening between the rooms sufficiently large to permit a free flow of air back and forth.
1
2
1 Opening between the rooms
2 Partition
(Where there is an opening without a door or where there are openings above and below
the door which are each equivalent in size to 0.15% or more of the floor area.)
3 Calculating the refrigerant density using the results of the calculations in steps 1 and 2 above.
Total volume of refrigerant in the refrigerant system
Size (m3) of smallest room in which there is an indoor unit installed ≤ Maximum concentration level (kg/m3)
If the result of the above calculation exceeds the maximum concentration level, a ventilation opening to the adjacent room shall be made.
