Ever since the brothers got rid of the Triple Threat Triad from their back, Mako would
constantly warn Bolin not to go near them anymore, and under normal circumstances, Bolin
would listen but this month was not normal at all because in just 3 days it would be Mako's
birthday.

Which was exactly what led him to do street acrobatics with Pabu in the city center but to say
straightforwardly Pabu's incredible circus ability was constantly being overlooked by people
who couldn't tell when a real talent was performing right in front of them. After three hours
of showcasing Pabu's talents, Bolin began to pack up his belongings, his mind already
formulating strategies to convince his boss to hand over his paycheck earlier than the usual
schedule.

However, his plans were interrupted when Shady Shin approached him with an offer of a
bodyguarding job. Of course, Bolin did his best to brush off the beta's deal, but due to the
amount of money he was offering, the omega couldn't bring himself to decline the job. So as
soon as Mako fell asleep after a long day of labor, he began sneaking out of his house as quiet
as possible because not only would Mako disapprove of him messing around with Shady, but
he would also forbid Bolin from going out at 1 in the morning.

Nonetheless, driven by the promise of quick cash and the urgency of his brother's upcoming
birthday, Bolin goes to the club Shin instructed him to go. As soon as he entered the
clubhouse, Shin commanded him to stay outside the door to guard him and his business
associates.

The job seemed simple enough, all he had to do was stand outside the door with a bodyguard
type of pose and wait for Shady Shin to finish making some shady deal with some random
gang in the room he was guarding from outside.

Sadly, that kind of deal would take at least an hour to finish, and Bolin's patience was already
wearing thin with only 20 minutes of waiting. After looking around his surroundings, Bolin
figured that there were no threats present, and if there were as long as he was within a 5-mile
radius of the door, he could easily take down anyone foolish enough to attack Shin. So,
instead of waiting for Shin and his miserable gang to exit the room, he decided that it
probably wouldn't hurt to grab a drink or two and maybe even hit it off with some attractive
betas.

Navigating through the bustling crowd, Bolin approached the liquor stand with something
light and cheap in his mind. He knew Shady Shin would lose his shit if he found out that
Bolin drank and lost sobriety during work and possibly cut off half of his payment so with a
subtle nod to the bartender, Bolin quietly placed his order.

"Can I buy you a drink?"As Bolin's gaze shifts toward the man who extended the offer of a
drink, he promptly recognizes a few signs of government affiliation. Under normal
circumstances, it would be logical for Bolin to warn his boss that there was a presence of
government official in the club, but the man was likely off-duty considering the fact that he
was in the club for a drink. Plus, Bolin's need for some company and free drinks completely
outweighed any apprehension involving an arrest, ultimately leading Bolin to enthusiastically
accept the man's offer.

As he analyzes the man, Bolin concluded that this man is practically screaming 'rich' for all
he knows. With his expensive-looking military outfit coupled with a tall, muscular physique,
there was an unmistakable aura of wealth surrounding him. He also couldn't ignore the fact
that there was at least a 10-year age gap between them.

"Name's Iroh II, by the way,"

"Bolin," he replies quietly, still lost in the swirl of his drink, unaware of how close he and
Iroh were seated. As their conversation started flowing, Bolin gradually realized the amount
of similarities he shared with Iroh.

Surprisingly, Iroh's presence brought him a sense of comfort, alleviating his earlier worries.
With each exchange of words and shared laughter, Bolin felt a growing appreciation for the
unexpected bond forming between them. It was a rare connection that seemed to bridge the
gap between their differences, leaving Bolin feeling grateful for the encounter with Iroh in
the midst of the bustling club.

Bolin's voice dripped with sarcasm as he recounted his most recent argument with Mako to
Iroh. "Can you believe it?! I was literally just drinking gin. So I told him, 'I'm already 16
Mako, free to do whatever I want, date whoever I want,'" he quipped, conveying his
frustration with a touch of humor. Sighing, Bolin quickly took a sip from his drink.

"I mean, he's not wrong about the age thing," Iroh replied with a hint of amusement coloring
his voice, though his expression remained composed. "But perhaps Mako's concern goes
beyond just the drinking. Maybe he worries about your overall choices and the company you
keep." He took a contemplative sip from his own cup, his gaze resting gently on the omega
he'd grown fond of in just 30 minutes.

Bolin rolled his eyes in mock exasperation. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. Mako's always been the
protective and responsible brother type," he said with a grin, though a hint of understanding
flickered in his eyes. "But sometimes, a guy just wants to let loose, you know? Besides, why
stop at gin? Weren't you the one asking if I wanted a drink in the first place?" Bolin teased,
his playful spirit shining through.

"Well, I did want to get to know you better. You're exactly my type, and buying a drink
seemed like the perfect way to charm an omega," Iroh confessed with a hint of truth beneath
the joking tone. As Bolin listened to Iroh's comment, his eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Oh,
really now?" he replied, with a grin spreading across his face. "Well, in that case, who am I to
refuse such a charming alpha?" Bolin's tone was teasing, but there was a hint of genuine
interest in his response.

Iroh chuckled, the warmth in his eyes ignited as he returned Bolin's playful banter. "I'm glad
you agree. So, what'll it be then? Another round of gin or something different?" he asked,
gesturing to the array of drinks available.
"Hmm, I'm sorry, Iroh, but I'm afraid my bodyguarding shift will be over soon," he confessed
sincerely, a hint of disappointment in his voice as he lowered his head. "I can't be caught
slacking off during work."

Iroh's brows furrowed slightly in confusion at Bolin's sudden confession. "You've been
bodyguarding someone this whole time?" he asked, surprised by the unexpected information.
"Not guarding someone, but rather a room, I guess?" Bolin whispered to Iroh, trying to hide
his task from the alpha in fear of busting the Triple Threat Triad, his income for tonight.

In that case, duty calls, I suppose," Iroh admitted with a slight sigh, a tinge of regret coloring
his tone. "But if you ever find yourself in need of company, don't hesitate to give me a call."
he extended a cigarette toward Bolin, tainted with carefully written digits of Iroh's phone
number.

Bolin's eyebrows shot up in surprise at Iroh's unexpected offer, a mixture of surprise and
appreciation flickering in his eyes. "I'll keep that in mind," he replied with a warm smile,
reaching out to accept the cigarette, his fingers briefly brushing against Iroh's in the
exchange.

As he studied the numbers written on the cigarette, Bolin couldn't suppress the surge of
excitement that welled up within him at the imagination of future encounters with Iroh, this
time perhaps on more personal terms such as date. "Thanks," he said sincerely, meeting Iroh's
gaze with a sense of gratitude. "I'll definitely give you a call."

With a final nod of farewell, Bolin tucked the cigarette into his pocket, the promise of Iroh's
company flowing in his thoughts as he returned to his duties. And as he stood guard in the
quiet corridors, Shin and his gang began exiting the room. Bolin straightened up, adopting a
serious demeanor as Shady Shin and his associates emerged from the room. He watched them
closely, scanning their expressions for any signs of trouble or tension. However, everything
seemed to be in order, and Bolin let out a silent sigh of relief.

Shin approached him, a satisfied grin on his face as he glanced at Bolin. "Everything went
smoothly out here?" he asked, his tone casual yet expectant.

Bolin nodded, keeping his expression as neutral as possible. "Yeah, no issues," he replied
confidently, making sure to maintain his professional demeanor despite the lingering thoughts
of his encounter with Iroh.

Shin's grin widened, and he clapped Bolin on the shoulder. "Good job, kid. Looks like you're
getting a hang of it," he remarked, before turning around to lead his group out of the club.

As they departed, Bolin's mind raced with conflicting emotions. On one hand, there was a
sense of pride in successfully completing his task, knowing that the fat paycheck awaiting
him would be able to afford Mako the expensive leather glove he had been eyeing for some
time, making it the perfect birthday gift. On the other hand, his thoughts kept drifting back to
Iroh and the unexpected connection they shared.

With a shake of his head, Bolin pushed aside his personal thoughts and focused on the task at
hand. At the moment, he needed to sneak back inside without waking his older brother up
and distractions were the last thing he needed.
