INTRODUCTION
Welcome, teachers, to the fascinating world of the solar system! These engaging
activities will ignite the curiosity of children as they embark on an educational
journey through space.

The solar system is a vast expanse filled with celestial marvels. At the centre of it all is
the Sun, our radiant star, around which all other objects orbit. Each planet has its own
unique characteristics, such as size, composition, and atmosphere, offering a
multitude of learning opportunities for young minds. Through these activities,
children will have the chance to delve into the mysteries of the solar system and
deepen their understanding of our cosmic neighbourhood.

Through these activities, children will have the opportunity to delve into the
captivating realm of our solar system, fostering a love for astronomy and
broadening their understanding of the vast universe that surrounds us.

So, let us embark on this cosmic adventure together and discover the wonders of the
solar system!

ACTIVITY STEPS

1. The teacher gathers the children and introduces our solar system to the children, using the
pictures of the solar system as visual aids and says:

"Hello, children! Have you ever looked up at the sky at night and wondered what all those
twinkling lights are? Well, some of those lights are actually huge, gigantic balls of gas and rock
that we call planets. Planets are just one part of something even bigger called the solar
system. The solar system is like a big family of planets, stars, moons, and other objects that all
spin and move around together. Today, we're going to learn more about our solar system and
the amazing things that make it so special."

2. The teacher continues by using the stick planets. The teacher shows each planet and talks
about their names, colours and shapes. Then the teacher can tell the planets story using the
stick planets(printable).

3. Then, the teacher invites the children to gather around the sensory bin and

4. The children play and explore the sensory bin filled with black beans, stars and planets.

5. The teacher encourages the children to use the words planets, space, big, small, round, stars,
sky, space.
