Introduction
I'm sure a lot of you have seen
people with beautiful,long and
healthy hair(both natural and
relaxed) and have always
wondered how to grow yours
(you're not alone,I was like that at
the early stage of growing my hair)
Growing your hair isn't magic! A lot
of people are not ready to put in
the effort. It's just like growing a
plant. If you just put it in the soil
without any extra work,it won't do

5
well at all. It can even get halfway
and die.
Human hair is also like an average
plant. It does well when you pay
attention to it. As we proceed,I'll be
sharing with you several things you
need to know about your hair.
Let's get this!

6
Factors hindering your hair
growth.
A lot of people dream of having
long and thick hair(who no like
good thing 😅 ). The hair can stop
growing or grow slowly due to a lot
of reasons. Here are some;
1.) Age: Hair loss and slow hair
growth are common
occurrences of natural aging.
Your hair won't grow as fast as it
used to when you were younger.
It's natural.

7
2.) Stress: Stress is a common
factor behind hair loss. Stress
may occur during illnesses and
recovery from an operation or
due to lifestyle factors. Look at
this scenario. We have Miss A
and B. Miss A works as at when
due and takes her rest at the
right time while Miss B does the
complete opposite. Who do you
think will be affected negatively?
Mrs B obviously. This is to show

8
that stress has a way of affecting
hair growth.

9
3.) Improper hair care routine:
Brushing the hair
carelessly,drying the hair with a
rough towel, and shampooing
the hair too often are some
common hair care mistakes that
can damage the hair and lead to
poor hair growth.

4.) Medications: Certain

medications such as
antibiotics,and chemotherapy
may cause hair loss.

10
5.) Genetics. Genetics plays a
huge factor in determining how
your hair will grow , how long,
the thickness and color. I'm sure
a lot of people can attest to this.
I'd use myself as an example. My
mom's hair is long and full but
mine's fuller and longer. Why?
Genetics is at work.

6.) Diet: Hair growth is largely

dependent(about 90%) on a rich

11
supply of nutrients. Therefore,
an improper diet or a lack of
nutrients, such as minerals,
vitamins,proteins, and water can
affect hair growth.
Don't fret because I'm hair for
you (get it?)

12
13
Steps to growing healthy hair.
Trying to grow healthy and longer
hair can be frustrating at times
because you feel like it's not
growing. While hair is the
fastest-growing tissue in the human
body the average rate of growth is
0.5 to 1.7 centimeters per month or
anywhere from about two to eight
inches per year(according to
Google).

14
That growth can feel minimal
especially if you're observing it too
closely.
In Spite of all the factors hindering
healthy hair growth,you can still
grow and maintain it if you're ready
to follow and implement these
steps.
1.Shampoo regularly but don't
overdo it: Shampoo helps clean
your hair and helps your scalp
grow thicker hair. If your scalp is

15
not cleaned, it leads to thinner
hair.
To help you reach your hair
goals, you need to have your
scalp in the best condition ever!!
This is the source of your hair
growth.
Look at this example of a crop. If
you plant on dry land, you get
dry crops(in most cases,they
wilt). The soil has to work for
vegetation to grow...unless

16
you're a desert plant!(na special
😂
case be this )
There are good shampoos out
there. Examples of good brands
are; Mielle,Cantu,Vo5, Mega
Growth,Miracle etc.
2. Scalp massages: They are
simply massages that are
focused on your scalp area(your
head). A scalp massage only
involves your fingers and
(maybe) a part of your palm.

17
Scalp massages help to
encourage blood flow to the
area, bringing with it oxygen and
hair-healthy nutrients. It's helpful
for those who do have a tense
scalp, as muscle tension can
often inhibit proper blood flow to
the area and also reduce hair
growth.
It has other benefits:
● Reduces stress hormones:
"Massages can reduce stress

18
and boost mood,"Stress also, is a
main contributor to hair loss.

● Boosts immune function:

Plenty of research connects
immune function with massage
therapy (although not
specifically tested on the scalp).

19
3. Trim when needed: A lot of
people are guilty of not obeying
😅
this. I was too . I mean who
will cut the extra length of their
hair and feel happy? It is
however very important to trim
when needed. I'll tell you why;
● Trimming hair promotes
healthy hair growth as a trim
gets rid of split ends and
other strands that are doing
more harm than good

20
● A good trim helps in cutting
down on the time that it takes
to detangle hair.

4. Use a microfiber towel/t-shirt to

dry your hair after washing: The
image is above. The fibers in
microfiber towels are so tiny that
they can lift tiny particles of dirt.
Unlike regular towels, microfiber
towel fibers are so small that
they are 1/100th the size of
human hair. Their tiny fibers

21
make them incredibly soft and
non-abrasive hence suitable for
the hair.

22
5. Avoid regular use of heat: One
way that heat damaged hair
occurs is through a loss of
moisture. Your hair is made up of
different bonds and oils. The
cortex is the inner part of your
hair strands, and it contains
water molecules that are bound
to the keratin proteins(too much
of chemistry 😅 ).
When heat is applied, the natural
oils are stripped from your hair,

23
and the water molecules
evaporate which affects the
structure of each strand and can
crack the outer layer of hair,
making hair more vulnerable to
further damage.
6. Know your hair porosity: Hair
porosity refers to how well your
hair is able to absorb and hold
moisture. Porosity can be
genetic, but it can also be
affected by external factors such
as exposure, heat treatments
and chemical processing.
24
Knowing your hair's porosity can
help you choose the right
products to keep your hair
well-moisturized, healthy and
strong.
You can determine your hair
porosity by using the float test.
Take a couple of strands of hair
from your comb or brush and
drop them into a bowl of water.
Let them sit for 2-4 minutes. If
your hair floats, you have low

25
porosity. If it sinks, you have
high porosity.

26
7. Moisturize regularly: It’s hard to
talk about moisturizing hair
without talking about why hair
needs that moisture in the first
place. If you’ve been wondering,
“Why is natural hair so dry?,” let’s
break it down.
There are a few reasons why
natural hair gets dry. One of
them is the way curls grow. The
natural shape of a curl makes it
tricky for the natural oils that
your scalp produces to work

27
their way down each hair shaft.
This is what keeps straighter hair
moisturized.
If you've noticed,you would have
seen that people with natural
hair have a very fast rate of hair
drying compared to people with
relaxed hair.
There are several ways to
moisturize your hair because
your hair thrives on moisture.

28
There are two
methods(depending on your hair
porosity) which are;
1.The LOC method
(liquid+Leave-in
conditioner,oil,hair butter/cream)
- This method is best for high
porosity hair. The steps for this
method are as follows;

● Spritz hair with

water/Leave-in conditioner

29
mixed with water using a
spray bottle.
● Apply your hair oil(best
applied with an applicator
bottle)
● Seal with hair cream/butter.
These oils are good for high
porosity hair: Olive,Avocado
and Castor oil.
2. The LCO method
(liquid+Leave-in conditioner,hair
butter/cream,oil) - This method is
best for low porosity hair. The

30
steps for this method are as
follows;
● Spritz hair with water/Leave-in
conditioner mixed with water
using a spray bottle.
● Apply your hair cream/butter.
● Seal with hair oil(best applied
with an applicator bottle)
These oils are good for low
porosity
hair:Almond,Jojoba,Castor and
Argan oil.

31
8. Detangle your hair properly
before combing(the Aunty that
Combs her hair dry just left the
group chat): A lot of people
complain of massive hair
breakage. Why? They're not
patient enough to de-tangle
their hair before combing. There
are two methods to effectively
detangle your hair with massive
breakage. These two methods
work hand in hand.

32
The first one is
finger-detangling. It's just as the
name implies. (Make sure to
hydrate your hair with water and
Leave-in conditioner before doing
this)

The second is the use of a wide

tooth comb.

33
9. Have a consistent hair
regimen: A regimen is just like a
skincare routine. Meaning it
contains all hair care procedures
that suit your hair and also the
right products to use (you can
reach out to me to get your
personalized at an affordable
rate).

10.Eat a balanced diet: Following

all the steps I mentioned earlier

34
will be useless without having a
balanced diet. Of course, it's
important to keep your scalp
healthy, but it's also important to
have a good diet.

35
Conclusion
I'm glad you read to the end and I
hope you learned, unlearned and
relearned a thing or two. I also
believe that your hair game will
change after reading this. Those
beautiful hairs you see were not
grown in one day( just like Rome
wasn't built in a day). You need to
put in the work and I know your
work will bring results. You can
send me a DM to give me a review.
