INTRODUCTION
Since the announcement of the Windows 11 by Microsoft Company in June
2021, many have been anticipating to see the new Operating System released
by the end of the year, 2021. It was widely speculated by analysts,
enthusiasts and users alike, that Windows 10 could have been the end of the
road for the IT Tech giant in terms of pioneering user interface software,
given the rise of other competitors at the turn of the second decade of the new
century. However, with the announcement of Windows 11 many have been
taken by surprise. Not only is it another higher version of the old Operating
System, it is also futuristic in outlook, user experience and it will be dictating
the direction Personal Computer’s Operating System should go. It is beautiful
in outlook, in feel, and navigation.
The launch of Windows 11 does not affect the OS experience of users of

Windows 10 if they insist on continuing to use it. However, Windows 11 is
made available free of charge to Windows 10 users who desire to upgrade.
There are many benefits of an upgrade as the new Windows has better
features and several improvements following the trends of contemporary
needs and evolution of computer systems in whatever mode and size.
Microsoft Company, however, will continue to give support to Windows 10
users up until 2025.
CHAPTER ONE
System Requirements for Windows 11
The minimum system requirements for Windows 11, as published by
Microsoft, are listed thus:
● Processor: 1GHz or faster. 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit
processor or system on a chip (SoC).
● RAM: 4 GB minimum.
● Storage: 64 GB minimum.
● Display: 9” or greater display screen, high definition display (720p).
● Graphics card: DirectX 12 or higher, with a WDDM 2.0 driver.
● Security: UEFI firmware, secure boot and TPM version 2.0 compatible.
Microsoft is officially retiring 32-bit Windows, with the launch of the
Windows 11 OS. 32-bit Windows apps will continue to enjoy support.
However, older PCs are not expected to meet Windows 11 stringent
requirements for processors. Two or higher cores on a 64-bit processor will
be good to go. PCs built since 2019 will pass all the Windows 11
compatibility requirements. However, there are some exceptions from older
generation PCs.
Most PCs built from around 2015 have hardware security components called
the Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) support. There might be a need to
enable this in the firmware setting if this is not already done.
Devices with display screens smaller than 9 inches will not work with the
new Operating System.
For Windows 10, a minimum storage of 16 GB and a minimum 2 GB RAM
were required. With Windows 11, however, minima of 64 GB and 4 GB are
required respectively for the storage and the RAM. This means that a PC with
lesser configuration will need to be fixed, before upgrading to the latest
version.
A steady Internet connection is required to keep Windows 11 up to date, as
there are features that will not work without it.
PCs and devices, which do not meet up with the minimum requirements of
Windows 11, can install the Windows 11 Insider Preview on their devices to
receive updates pending when Windows 11 is officially released. In section
1.2 of this Guide, how to install Windows 11 Insider Preview is discussed.
New Windows 11 Features
Windows 11 is a lot similar to Windows 10, but with a few simplified
changes here and there. There is an apparent fluidity in the user’s touch
experience. This makes it user-friendly and it gives an ease in accomplishing
whatever tasks on the PC or device.
Although, there are several minor changes here and there, the following are
the most significant changes:
1. A new, simplified user interface.
2. Installable Android apps.
3. Widgets.
4. Microsoft Teams.
5. Xbox tech for better gaming – autoHDR, DirectStorage.
6. Improved multitasking.
The most significant changes on the user interface are along the taskbar. The
tray area is no more there. All the apps are now placed on the taskbar. There
is a new Start button and menu. It looks a bit like Mac-OS and more or less, a
simplified version of Windows 10X, but without Live Tiles. The apps icons
and Start menu can be moved to the extreme left, in case the user does not
want them featured centrally.
Android apps can be installed natively from the new Microsoft Store
through the Amazon Appstore.
Windows 11 has a Widgets panel, where some handy features such as
Photos, Calendar, To Do List and news are placed.
Teams is now directly located on the Taskbar for easy access – a bit
like Mac’s FaceTime. Teams will be available on Windows, Mac,
Android, and iOS.
Certain features found in Xbox such as Auto HDR, DirectStorage are
now integrated into the new Windows. This will greatly improve the
gaming experience of users.
Windows 11 has features that make multitasking easy. They are called
Snap Groups and Snap Layouts. They put all the apps you are using at
once in one place. They also allow the user to either plug or unplug
their display screens without losing their opened windows.
How to Install Windows 11 Insider
Preview
Windows 11 is speculated to be released in October 2021. Some individuals
already have access to the OS, even though it is yet to be released. These are
you and I. In other words, anyone can have this privilege if you follow the
steps below. The only way possible to get access to the new Windows 11 beta
is to be part of the Windows Insider Program and have an active Microsoft
account.
The following will show you how to be a member of the Windows 11 Insider

Steps to Take to Download and Install
Windows 11
When the installation process has been completed and your PC restarted, then

CHAPTER TWO
Customizing the Start Menu
To access the Start Menu on Windows 11, you can either click on the Start
Menu icon on the taskbar or press the Windows key. The Start Menu will
display your often-used apps, recently-added apps, Jump Lists, File Explorer
and recently-opened items in Start.
In order to change the Start Menu on Windows 11 to suit your taste, follow
the steps below:
Step 1: Press Windows key + I to go to Settings.
Step 2: Then find Personalization.
Step 3: Open the Start page.
Step 4: Then change the Start Menu to the way you want it.
You can add folders you want to appear in the Start Menu here.
Add Folders in the Start Menu
Follow the below to start adding folders in the Start Menu
Step 1: Press down Windows key + I or go to Settings from the Start
Menu.
Step 2: Then find Personalization.
Step 3: Open the Start page.
Step 4: Go to Folders.
That is, Settings > Personalization > Start > Folders
On the Folders settings, customize by turning on and off the options, as you
desired. This will enable you to have quick access to different Folders
locations selected on the Start Menu.
How to Organize Pinned Applications
Your pinned apps will spill to multiple pages, and you might want to re-
arrange them to your order of preference. To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Click the Start button on the taskbar or press the Windows
key to bring out the Start menu.
Step 2: Then browse through your pinned apps to select the particular
one you want moved.
Step 3: Right-click on the app, and select Move to Top.
How to Pin Apps in the Start Menu
and Re-arrange Icons
To pin your apps in the Start Menu, the following simple steps are to be
followed:
Step 1: Press on the Windows key to open up the Start Menu.
Step 2: Click on the All apps> at top right-corner of the pinned
apps.
Step 3: Scroll down and up to select the desired app you wish to
pin.
Step 4: Right-click on the app and click Pin to Start.
Step 5: At the top right-corner, click on <back.
Step 6: You should find your newly pinned app in the list.
How to View the Drive Usage
To view the usage of your drive, simply follow the steps below:
Step 1: Go to the Settings page.
Step 2: Click on the Manage disks and Volumes settings.
Step 3: Then click on the Properties to view it.
Step 4: Scroll down the settings page, and click on View usage.
This is where you will find the list of the folders on the device and the
amount of space occupied. You may click on any folder to see the files and
/or apps in them and their sizes.
Changing the Label of Your Drive
Follow the steps below to change the name or label of your drive:
1. Open Settings from the Start Menu.
2. Then, click on System.
3. Then click on Storage on your left-hand pane.
4. Afterwards, click on Advanced storage settings from your right-hand
pane.
5. Find Disk & volumes on your right-hand side and click on it.
6. Locate the specific drive you want renamed and click on its icon.
7. All the partitions of the drive will appear. Highlight the partition with
the biggest size.
8. Then click on Properties.
9. Data Volume section will then come up.
10. Click on the Change label.
11. Type the new letter in the space provided.
12. And finally click Ok to conclude the renaming.
It is important to use a different letter from the ones already used.
Press down Windows key+ E keys to go to the File section to see what
letters or labels are already in use. Then click on This PC, where all the
drives connected to the PC are.
CHAPTER THREE
How to Unpin Applications in the
Start
If you feel the Start Menu is clustered with too many apps, you can un-pin
some of the less often used ones, by following the steps:
Step 1: Open the Start menu by pressing the Windows key.
Step 2: The pinned applications are right there in the Start Menu.
Step 3: Right-click on any app on the list; then click Unpin from
Start.
How to Manage Disk and Drive
Storage Settings
Windows 11 has a better and simpler disk management in the Windows
Settings. Take the following steps to manage the disk and drive storage
settings:
Step 1: Press down the Windows + I keys to open the Settings page or
open Settings from the Start Menu by clicking Start on the taskbar.
Step 2: Then select System.
Step 3: Afterwards, click on the Storage settings on the left.
Step 4: Then click on Advanced Storage setting.
Step 5: On the right-hand pane, move down and locate Disk &
volumes. Click on it so that you can analyze the storage device, which
will show you all the devices on your PC.
Step 6: Click on any of the devices you want to have access to.
Step 7: Then, click on Explore.
Search for Storage Details
To search for storage details, you will do the following:
Step 1: Press down the Windows + I keys to open the Settings page.
Step 2: Then select System.
Step 3: Afterwards, click on the Storage settings on the left.

Partition Size of Your Drive
To either increase or decrease the partition size of your disk, follow the steps

Step 9: Click OK, when done allotting.
How to Increase the Size of a
Windows 11 Partition
To increase the partition size of your disk, follow the steps below:
Step 3: On the right-hand pane, move down and locate Disk & volumes.
Step 4: Select the drive you wish to work on. The drive’s partition will be
displayed.

Step 6: Thereafter, click on Change size.
Step 7: A window will be prompted, where you can now allot the disk
size to increase it from what was there before.
Disk sizes are measured in MB.
1GB = 1024MB.
So, for instance 25GB = (25*1024) = 25,600M
Step 8: Click OK, when done allotting.
CHAPTER FOUR
How to Use Clipboard Paste as Text
In Windows 11, copied items in their original forms can be pasted and then
modified to plain text. This can be done by following the steps below:
Step 1: Open a desired file in text format.
Step 2: Then, press down the Windows + V keys on the keypad to open
the history tab of the Clipboard.
Step 3: Then, click on the three-dots just beside the copied text, and click
Paste as text.
What are the Different Types of Files
that Can Be Stored in Clipboard?
Texts, images, scripts, links, documents and videos less than 4MB can be
stored in Clipboard on Windows 11. Maximum number of items supported in
the Clipboard is 25. The most recent item copied stays at the top. The oldest
copied item is removed bottom up when new ones are added.
How Do You Enable Clipboard
History
To enable the Clipboard History, follow these steps below:
Step 1: Open the settings app by using Windows key + I shortcut keys
from the keyboard.
Step 2: Then click on System.
Step 3: select the Clipboard, on the right side of the System settings.
Step 4: now on the right pane of the clipboard, turn on the option to
enable it.
How to Use Several Keyboard
Layouts
In Windows 11, the user interface of the touch keyboard makes the keyboard
layout very easy to use. Do the following to make use of the keyboard layout:
Step 1: Locate on the taskbar, the touch keyboard button and click on
it.
Step 2: From the screen that appears, click on the gear icon on the left-
hand corner. The gear icon represents settings.
Step 3: Click on the Keyboard layout>, then you will have access to
the different keyboard layouts - default, small, split and handwriting
tool, as well.
The default keyboard layout completely covers the lower part of the screen
that comes up when you open the touch keyboard. The small is a smaller size
of the touch keyboard. While the split divided the screen to two to enable you
type with both hands
For the Handwriting tool, do the following to enable it:
Step 1: Click on the gear icon (settings) on the left-hand corner of the
touch-keyboard screen.
Step 2: Then, click on Handwriting.
This feature allows you to write texts with your handwriting, which
Windows 11 will recognize and convert to words in desired fonts.
How Do I Add Another Keyboard
Layout?
The default language layout is English (US). However, it is possible to install
a secondary language or more; and switch from one to another as needed. To
do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
Step 2: In the Settings app, click on Time & language on the left side.
Step 3: Then select Language & Region on the right pane.
Step 4: Then on the preferred languages, click on Add a language
from the options.
Step 5: Choose a language to install and search for the desired
language.
Step 6: And click on Next at the bottom of the same pop-up window.
If you want this new language as your main display language, select it
by clicking on Display language before clicking on Next.
Step 7: Installation may take a few minutes, but when it is completed,
you will need to sign out for the changes to take effect. You can do this
by clicking on sign out. You will then need to sign in back again.
Step 8: After signing in back again and the new language successfully
installed, its keyboard layout button will then appear in the taskbar.
Step 9: It is easier to use keyboard shortcuts to switch from one
keyboard layout to another.
- Press down Windows key + Space to change layouts. If
there are more than 2 Keyboard layouts, then you press down
the Windows key while pressing the space key one at a time.
- Another shortcut is the Alt + shift combination.
How Do I Change the Keyboard
Layout?
To switch or change from one keyboard layout to another, follow the steps
below:
Step 1: Locate keyboard layout button in the taskbar and click on it
Step 2: Then select the language keyboard layout desired
Alternatively, there are keyboard shortcuts to use
- Press down Windows key + Space to change layouts.
- Another shortcut is the Alt + shift combination.
How Do I Remove the Keyboard
Layout widget from the taskbar?
The widget is there in the first place, because a secondary language was
added; so by simply removing a language, the widget disappears. Take the
following steps to remove the secondary language:
Step 3: Then select Language & Region on the right pane.
Step 4: go to the 3 dots beside the secondary language and click on
remove. The widget will no more be in the taskbar
Alternatively, without removing the secondary language, the widget can thus
be removed.
Step 3: Go down to advanced keyboard settings
Step 4: Locate the language bar options.
Step 5: A window will appear, turn on hidden and click ok.
Step 6: Then select Use the language bar when it is available.
Step 9: The widget will no longer be in the taskbar without removing
the secondary language.
How to Use Ease of Access Center to
Turn On the On-Screen Keyboard
To use Ease of Access Center to turn on the on-screen keyboard on your
device, follow these steps:
Step 1: Press the Windows key + I to go to settings
Step 2: Locate and click on Ease of Access
Step 3: Then scroll down and click on Keyboard.
Step 4: In the keyboard settings, turn on the button in front of Use
your device without a physical keyboard. It is done.
CHAPTER FIVE
How to Format or Delete the Partition
Files and data should be backed up before formatting the disk partition. To
delete or format disk partition, do the following:

Step 4: Select the drive you wish to work on. The drive’s partition will
be displayed.
Properties.
Step 6a: Locate and click on Delete to delete your partition. Follow the
instructions afterward to finish the process.
Step 6b: However, to format the drive, only click format and not
delete
Depending on the size of the partition, it will take a few seconds or minutes
to complete.
Using the Search and New Emojis
The touch keyboard in Windows 11 has new dedicated emojis and GIFs,
which is lacking in that of Windows 10. To use, follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the Taskbar, locate and click on the touchpad icon.

Step 2: Click on the emoji icon on the left, just beside settings (gear-
like) icon.
Step 3: there you will see diverse emojis and GIFs.
Step 4: Use the search bar to search for GIFs and emojis.
Step 5: There is also clipboard history, which can be used on the touch
keyboard. First, click on the emoji icon on the left, and then at the left-
hand corner, click on the clipboard icon. This will show the clipboard
history from which you can then click on the desired text or image.
How to Use Transparency Effects
The new Windows 11 touch keyboard has an option to use emoji, unlike
Windows 10. It also has options to use transparency effect, animated GIF
search bar and more.
The transparent effect of the touch keyboard in Windows 11 is a feature that
makes the touch keyboard look somewhat transparent. Nevertheless, the
keyboard has to be docked. By default, it is docked at the lower end of the
screen.
To undock, there is an undocking button on the right-hand corner of the touch
keyboard, click on it. This will enable you to move the touch keyboard
around, as you like. To dock the keyboard back, click on the same button.
The taskbar also appears transparent, having shades of the colourful
background used for desktop. This is a default setting.
In the section, however, we shall look at how to disable it, if so desired.
Disable Windows 11’s Transparency
Effects
In Windows 11, there are two methods of disabling the transparency feature –
through Personalization Settings and through Accessibility Settings.
To disable transparency effects through Personalization, follow these steps:
Step 1: Get to Personalization through Settings or right-click on the
desktop and click on Personalize.
Step 2: On Personalization settings, click on Colors.
Step 3: Thereafter, turn off the Transparency effects switch and it
will be disabled.
Next, we shall look at the other method. To disable transparency effects
through Accessibility Settings, follow these steps:
Step 1: Press the Windows key + I to open the settings app.
Step 2: Then click Accessibility on the left side of the Settings
window.
Step 3: In the Accessibility options, click on the virtual effects tab.
This will bring up all the settings of effect used in the Windows user
interface.
Step 4: Look for Transparency effects and turn off the Transparency
effects button.
CHAPTER SIX
How to Open Folder Option
The new Windows, like every other edition of Windows since Windows 8,
has the Windows Folder Options. This dialog box allows the user to
configure all manner of settings, and change the preference for the File
Explorer on the PC. To open Folder options, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open File Explorer
Step 2: You will see 3 at the top of the opened windows, click on See
More.
Step 3: A drop-down menu will appear, click to open the options.
Step4: Here, a window with 3 tabs, like in previous editions, will
appear: General, View, and Search.
Alternatively, Folder options can be opened via the Control Panel. To do this,
follow these steps:
Step 1: open Start.
Step 2: Locate the Control Panel and click on it.
Step 3: Then click on Experience & Personalization.
Step 4: Here just click File Explorer options and start customizing
your experience.
Options to Open File Explorer in a
Different Way
Use the Ribbon in the File Explorer
Step 1: Press Windows key + E to launch the File Explorer in
Windows 11.
Step 2: Click on the 3 dots at the top ribbon and select Options.
Step 3: The Folder Options windows will then open.
Use the Search Icon
Step 1: From the bottom left of the desktop, click on the search icon
Step 2: Type Folder options in the search bar and it will bring result,
click on it.
How to Use the Ribbon in the File
Explorer
Step 1: Press Windows key + E to launch the File Explorer in
Windows 11.
Step 2: Click on the three dots at the top ribbon and select Options.
Step 3: The Folder Options windows will then open.
How to Change Administrator on
Windows 11
To have total control over your PC or device, you will need an Administrator
account. This will enable you to give permission to apps and games to
function optimally.
Windows 11 has the standard user account and the administrator account.
While the standard user account gives you basic access to perform tasks and
use apps in limited levels, the administrator account gives complete control to
customize experience as desired and optimally.
Change Account to Administrator
through the Windows Settings
Step 1: Press the Windows + I keys open Settings or any other method
as mentioned earlier.
Step 2: Then locate Accounts and select Family & other users.
Step 3: On the Other Users section, you will see all user accounts.
Click on the desired user account and select Change account type.
Step 4: Click on Administrator. Afterwards click OK.
To change it back to Standard User account, select Standard User.
How to Change Administrator through
the Control Panel
Another method to change a standard user account to the administrator
account is via Control Panel. To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Type Control Panel in the search space (search bar) at the
bottom of the screen and view it in Category mode.
Step 2: Locate User Accounts and open.
Step 3: Then click on Change account type
Step 3: A new window will appear with user accounts. Click on the
desired user account and click on Change the account type.
Step 4: Tick the Administrator box and click Change Account Type.
To change back to Standard, follow the same steps above in this same way.
How to Change Administrator using
the Command Prompt
In Windows 11, to use Command Prompt to change administrator, follow the
steps below:
Step 1: With an Administrator account, run Command Prompt.
Do this by pressing Windows key + S on your keyboard and Windows
Search will be launched. Type cmd in the space where Type here to
search is. Then, click on Run as administrator on the right-hand side.
Step 2: Type net user and press Enter to bring out the list of users on
your PC. Make note of the name of the user you want to make changes
to. Let’s assume it’s Nick, so we note it
Step 3: Afterwards, execute the command net localgroup
Administrators Nick /add.
Nick in that command is the name of the user we want to change to an
administrator account. On your PC, you will change Nick to the user
you desire to change.
If you desire to change the user back to Standard user account type in
the command net localgroup Administrators Nick /delete
How to Remove a Setting from Quick
Settings
In Windows 11, the Quick Settings now replace Action Center. The Quick
Settings are similar to the Control Center in Mac computers.
The Quick Settings will enable user quick access settings, so that changes can
be made, though it has few settings options. They are a set of status icons on
the taskbar such as the Wi-Fi icon, the volume icon, and the battery icon. It
can be found on the right section of the taskbar in Windows 11.
To remove a setting from Quick Settings, follow the steps below:
Step 1: A keyboard shortcut to open Quick Settings is Windows key +
A.
Step 2: You will see an icon similar to a pen, click on it.
Step 3: The settings here will turn grey and you will see an unpin
icon at the top-right corner of each setting. Click on the unpin icon to
remove a setting from the Quick Settings.
Step 4: Click on Done to save changes.
Quick Settings: Adding or Removing
The main purpose of Quick Settings is quick access to the settings needed as
desired by the User, which can be edited as required.
To add a setting to Quick Settings in Windows 11, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press Windows key + A key to open the Quick Settings.
Step 2: Click on the pen icon located at the bottom right.
Step 3: Click Add.
Step 4: select the options you want added to the Quick Settings. On a
PC, there are more options after accomplishing Step 3 above. They are
Nearby sharing and Mobile hotspot.
Step 5: Click on Done to save.
CHAPTER SEVEN
Connecting to a WiFi network on
Windows 11
WiFi or Wi-Fi is the radio signal a wireless router sends to a device or
devices in proximity with it, and which converts the signal into tangible data
that can be used. In other words, it is a wireless networking technology used
by devices to interface with the Internet.
Using Windows 11 OS, follow the steps below to connect your PC to a Wi-Fi
network:
Step 1: On the taskbar, locate and click on the Network icon
Step 2: A small box will pop up showing the Wi-Fi icon and the
symbol “>”. Click on the symbol >, right beside the pie icon of the Wi-
Fi.
Step 3: A list of WiFi connections available will appear. Then locate

the desired WiFi network and click on Connect.
Step 4: You will be prompted to put a password (network security
key), if the WiFi network is password protected; otherwise it connects
immediately you click on Connect in Step 3. Put the password if
known and click Next.
Your PC will successfully establish a connection with the WiFi network, if
the password inputted is correct. You should see a Connected, secured status
tagged with the specific WiFi successfully connected to.
Whenever the WIFI is enabled the Wi-Fi, the button on the taskbar will be
blue in color.
It is possible that Windows 11 is unable to detect your wireless adapter. This
can happen if the driver is either not installed or improperly installed. To
correct this, install the driver from any source (CD, USB flash, Internet, etc).
If it is a WiFi dongle, it is likely the driver will come with it in a CD. You
can as well automatically update the driver of the device by using the
Windows Update or the Device Manager.
Reconnect Automatically
If you desire a repeated access to a particular WiFi network, each time the
device is turned on or WiFi connection is enabled, without having to set it up
all over again by inputting a password, then you should set it to connect
automatically.
To do this, simply follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the taskbar, locate and click on the Network icon.

The Most Effective Method to
Connect to a WiFi Network Using
Settings
Using Settings, connection to WiFi networks can be made. To do this, follow
the steps below:
Step 1: Press down the Windows key + I keys to open the Settings
page or open Settings from the Start Menu by clicking Start on the
taskbar.
Step 2: On the left-hand side of the Settings page, locate and select
Network & Internet.
Step 3: Then click on Wi-Fi on the right-hand side of the Network &
Internet page.
Step 4: Turn On the Wi-Fi toggle.
Step 5: Select Show Available Networks in the settings that come up
next.
Step 6: Here a list of available WiFi networks in close proximity
appear. Select a desired network, input the password or network
security key (if it demands for it).
Step 7: click Next.
Alternatively, click on the search icon on the taskbar; enter either Settings or
WiFi on the search bar to bring up their icons in the results. Click on any of
them and join either at Step 2 or Step 4 above respectively.
How to Set Up a VPN
The Virtual Private Network (VPN) helps to deliver a private network across
various public networks like the internet, to share data as if their devices are
directly connected to one another privately. This means their connections
bypass interference or monitoring (by governments, hackers, etc) through
encrypted means. It is also used by big organizations to connect employees’
PCs in distant locations as if they are connected directly to one another. There
are numerous personal VPNs created by individuals to protect their
networking activities and make them private.
To set-up a VPN on your own, follow the steps below:
Step 2: Locate the Network & Internet Settings and click on it.
(Alternatively, you can combine the 2 steps above by right-clicking on
the network icon on the taskbar and then click on Network and
Internet settings to take you straight to the Network & Internet
settings tab).
Step 3: On the right-hand side click on VPN.
Step 4: Afterwards, click Add VPN button right behind the VPN
connections.
Step 5: A pop-up will appear. When it does, set up your VPN as
instructed below:
- VPN provider: Set the VPN provider to default selection to
Windows, which is built-in anyways.
- Connection name: Type in your preferred name to easily
recognize it at any time.
- Server name or address: Type in the name of the server
provided by the company providing the VPN. Usually, there will
be a range of options to select from. Diverse locations or
destinations are also usually provided, from which you will
select one.
- VPN type: It is recommended that you leave it at the default,
which is automatic. However, if you are a Tech pro and you
know what type of VPN you are about using, you can indicate to
give your connection a faster speed.
- Type of sign-in info: Here, you type in the username and/or
password if the connection has them. Otherwise, you can as well
leave this blank. Smart cards can also be used here.
If the settings turn out successful, the new VPN will be listed under the VPN
connections. You can set up as many VPN connections as desired.
However, whenever you wish to connect your PC to any particular VPN, you
locate it, select it and click on the Connect to start using Virtual Private
Network.
CHAPTER EIGHT
Installing Fonts on Windows 11
There are tens of fonts pre-installed with Windows 11, as with previous
editions. However, the new Windows in the same tradition as with older
Windows allows room for customization to further personalize an individual's
experience in the way they work on their PCs or devices.
There are diverse ways to go about installing fonts, and we shall be looking at
each one after the other.
Installing Fonts from Microsoft Store
To install fonts from Microsoft Store, you will to follow the steps below:
Step 1: Open the Microsoft Store
Step 2: Type fonts into the search bar
Step 3: Locate Fonts with the subtitle explore new fonts in the results
window that will appear. Click on it.
Step 4: varieties of fonts will appear for you to select from. Some are
free and some are paid; so you need to check well before finally
settling for one. Click one at a time, those fonts you desire to install.
Step 5: Then click on the Free button to install those free of charge.
But if they are paid, the prices will show in blue in place of Free. Click
on the price tag if you wish to purchase the font(s) nonetheless.
Step 6: When downloading is complete, install each one by clicking on
Launch.
Downloading Fonts Manually
Apart from the fonts in Microsoft Store, it is possible to download fonts from
elsewhere. This can be done from several places. Follow the steps below to
do this:
From Microsoft Store, follow the steps below to download and install
Step 1: Download Font packages or archives from anywhere.
Examples of websites to get fonts are as follow:
● DeviantArt – deviantart.com
● Google Fonts – fonts.google.com
● FontZone – fontzone.net
● etc
Step 2: When downloading is completed, right click on each one at a
time and click Show more options from the pop-up menu.
Step 3: Then use any file archiver such as WinRar to unzip them. The
fonts will be located in Windows and ready to use.
Please note that after downloading, there are other ways to manually install
aside using a file archiver such as 7-Unzip, WinRar, etc.
That is, after Step 2, Step 3 can also be:
● Step 2: Locate the font file, right click on it and click Show more
options from the pop-up menu.
● Step 3: Then click Install. It will install automatically.
Another way is:
● Step 2: To double-click on them.
● Step 3: Afterwards, click on Install.
Another method is using drag on drop via settings:
● Step 2: Press down the Windows + I keys to open the Settings
page, or open Settings from the Start Menu by clicking Start on
the taskbar.
● Step 3: On the left-hand side, click on Personalization.
● Step 4: Then on the right, locate Fonts and click on it.
● Step 5: Locate Drag and drop to install option, and follow
instructions. Open the downloaded or extracted fonts file, drag and
drop them into the drag and drop to install settings area.
Note: Only drag and drop files in the following formats: .tff or .otf
How to Change the Primary Monitor
in Windows 11
Like in the previous editions, it is also possible to use multiple monitors and
set how this is preferred. There are not many differences, except that in the
new Windows 11, there are few changes in the settings app that will take a
little time to get used to.
When your PC detects more than one display screen, it will assign a number
to each of them for easier identification. However, this arrangement can be
adjusted to suit you. And this is simple; click, hold and drag the display left
or right.
When your PC detects more than one monitor or display screen, you will see
the same thing across all the monitors. This is by default. You can,
nonetheless, change this to either use only one display only, or duplicate the
same things on all display screens, or extend, which is seeing things across
multiple display screens, or see things on the second display only. In most
cases, it is set at extended mode, where there will be a primary display. The
primary monitor is where major activities like sign-in, and where the taskbar
will be.
To change the primary monitor in Windows 11, follow the steps below:

displays.
Step 5: Click on the numbered display screen you desire to make the
primary monitor to select it.
Step 6: Look down under Multiple Display, you will find Make this
my main display. Check the box in front of it.
Step 7: Changes will be effected immediately, but it is recommended
to restart your PC to fully see the changes made.
CHAPTER NINE
Finding a Windows 11 Product Key
Windows 11 product key is a group of keyboard characters specifically
designed to authenticate your purchase of the OS. The product key is needed
to activate your new Windows. There is usually the trial period of 30 days
after which Windows 11 must be activated, otherwise it expires. When it
expires, Windows 11 is limited in some features and will not function
optimally.
The first thing to do is to find out if your Windows 11 has been activated or
not. To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 2: Click Update & Security on the left side.
Step 3: Then click Activation on the left side of the Update &
Security settings.
Step 4: Afterwards, click on the Check for update button on the
right-hand side.
Your Windows 11 will be activated, if it was not done before. And if it was
already activated, it will show you so.
However, you will need to have the product key handy. You can find the
product key on the sticker of your newly purchased PC, you can check with
the IT vendor, or IT officer in your organization. If purchased digitally from
online stores, you can find it in the software library. In the case of Microsoft
Store, locate Downloads, then, click Product Keys then Subscription page.
However, the next two sections will show the steps needed to follow to find
the product key by making a registry script or by using a Command Prompt.
Make a Registry Script for Product
key
To locate the product key by making a registry script, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Click the search icon on the taskbar, and type notepad in the
search space.
Step 2: Click Open just right below it.

Step 4: Then click file at the top left-hand corner, followed by save as.
Step 5: Change the file type to .vbs. To do this, click the File type and
a menu will drop down from which you will select All Files. Then give
the file the name productkey.vbs and save on the desktop.
Step 6: After it has been saved, click on the file named
productkey.vbs located on the desktop. A small window will open
with the product key on it. You can scribble it down somewhere.
Using a Command Prompt to Locate a
Product Key
To find Windows 11 product key using a command prompt, follow the steps
below:
Step 2: Type this command

Then, press Enter.
Step 3: The current Windows 11 product key will appear in the next
line after the above command.
How to Hide the Windows 11 Taskbar
For whatever reason you want the taskbar hidden, every Window edition has
a provision for doing so. Windows 11 is not an exception. The taskbar is like
a shortcut to accessing often-used apps, documents, files, settings,
notifications, sound, WiFi and whatever the user deems fit to put on there.
However, sometimes, the taskbar might be unwanted temporarily depending
on what you need the entire display screen for.
To hide the taskbar in Windows 11, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Right-click anywhere on the desktop screen
Step 2: A menu will appear, find and click on Personalize, which will
take you to Personalization settings.
Step 3: Then locate and click taskbar on the right-hand side
Step 4: When the taskbar settings screen appears, scroll down to locate
Taskbar behaviours; click on it.
Step 5: Click to select the box for Automatically hide the taskbar
Alternatively, to bypass steps 1 to 3 to land you straight into the taskbar
settings, do the following:
- Right-click anywhere on the taskbar
- Click Taskbar settings from the pop-up menu
- And then continue from Step 4 above.
If you do not want to hide the taskbar, simply deselect the box in front of
Automatically hide the taskbar in step 5.
When the cursor is not on the taskbar, it will automatically hide. But there are
instances when the taskbar won’t hide despite following the steps above
accurately to set it to automatically hide. This can happen when there is a
notification on the taskbar that needs to be attended to, or an application is on
the taskbar which has opened in the background on its own. To want your
taskbar hidden again, attend to these issues or close them and the taskbar will
auto-hide again.
How to Enter BIOS in Windows 11
BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System. It is a program that enables the
PC to boot Windows when it is switched on; and also controls the data flow
between Windows and other devices used with the PC such as the keyboard,
hard disk, mouse and so on. The BIOS can also be used to change the system
and hardware settings of the PC.
There are possible instances Windows will not boot due to an error. It is by
entering into BIOS, that this issue could be rectified. Moreover, there are few
changes that can only be made through BIOS. This makes it important to
know how to have access to the BIOS in Windows 11.
What is the Best Way to Get into
BIOS from a Boot?
To enter BIOS from switching on your PC, you will be required to press the
relevant keys depending on the type of PC you are using. Please check on
your manufacturer’s manual to know what keys are to be used to enter the
Startup menu.
For the following steps, HP laptop was used to enter into BIOS from a boot:
Step 1: Switch on your PC.
Step 2: Press the ESC key immediately and the screen lights up.
(Check with your PC’s manufacturer as this may differ from yours).
Step 3: If you are fast enough and successful, you will see the Startup
menu. Here there will be various options with instructions on what
keyboard keys to press to land you there.
Step 4: Press F10 on the keyboard to enter BIOS.
Step 5: While in BIOS you can now make the changes as you desire.
What is the Best Way to Get into
BIOS from Windows Settings?
If you missed Step 2 of Section 9.6, because you were not fast enough or for
whatever reason, your Windows will boot without taking you to the Startup
menu. However, you can still get into BIOS right from settings, which will
take you much longer, but it is the default procedure across all brands of PCs.
You will need to follow the steps below to do so:
Step 1: Right-click on the Start icon in the taskbar or (press Windows
key + X on your keyboard) to launch Quick Access Menu and then
click Settings from the options. Alternatively, press Windows key + I
to take you directly to Settings.
Step 2: Click on System on the left side.
Step 3: On the right, click on Recovery under the System settings
Step 4: Then click on Restart now to re-start your PC in the Windows
RE (Recovery Environment).
Step 5: You will be prompted to confirm, click on Restart now.
Step 6: Patiently wait for your PC to restart.
Step 7: A blue screen will appear asking you to choose from 3 options:
Continue, Troubleshoot, and Turn off your PC. Click on
Troubleshoot.
Step 8: Then click on Advanced options.
Step 9: Under Advanced options, you will see 6 options, select the
UEFI Firmware Settings.
Step 10: Click on Restart. Your PC will restart and you will then enter
Startup Menu (that is, you will now be in Step 3 of Section 9.6
above).
Step 11: Press F10 on the keyboard to enter BIOS.
Step 12: While in BIOS you can now make the changes as you so
desire.
Advanced Startup Options on
Windows 11
The Advanced Startup Options on Windows 11 can be accessed through
Settings, Command Prompt, Task Manager, Lock Screen, Start Menu,
Automatic Repair or through a USB media. The Advanced Startup Options
allows you to troubleshoot, fix most problems and make changes to the PC
without the Windows 11 running. So, like in Section 9.7, it works in
Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE or WinRE) to be able to do
this. Later on we will learn how to access Advanced Startup Options through
various methods. The following outline below will guide you to access and
explore Advanced Startup Options in Windows 11:
Access the Advanced Startup Options through any of the
methods from Section 9.8.1 to Section 9.8.7.
On the Advanced Startup screen, click on Troubleshoot.
You will see Reset this PC and Advanced Options.
Under Reset this PC, you will be able to re-install Windows
with your settings, apps and files intact.
In the Advanced Options, you will have access to System
Restore and other troubleshooting features. System Restore
enables you to restore your PC to a previous working state.
Also, you can open System Image Recovery, Startup Repair, Command
Prompt, Startup settings, UEFI Firmware settings, etc.
Access Advanced Startup through
Windows 11 Settings
Step 1: Right-click on the Start icon in the taskbar or (press Windows
key + X on your keyboard) to launch Quick Access Menu and then
click Settings from the options. Alternatively, press Windows key + I
to take you directly to Settings.
Step 2: Click on System on the left side.
Step 3: On the right, click on Recovery under the System settings
Step 4: Then click on Restart now to re-start your PC in the Windows
RE (Recovery Environment).
Step 5: You will be prompted to confirm, click on Restart now.
Step 6: Patiently wait for your PC to restart
Step 7: A blue screen will appear asking you to choose from 3 options:
Continue, Troubleshoot, and Turn off your PC. Click on
Troubleshoot.
Step 8: Then click on Advanced options.
Command Prompt
Follow the steps below to open Advanced Startup options area using
Command Prompt:
Step 2: Type this command:
shutdown /r /o /f /t 00
Then press Enter to access the recovery environment (RE).
Start Menu
To gain access to the Advanced Startup options through the Start Menu,
follow the steps below:
Step 1: Click the Start button on the taskbar to launch the Start
Menu.
Step 2: Click on the Power button.
Step 3: On the keyboard, press and hold down the Shift key, while
clicking on the Restart button at the same time.
Step 4: When done, the Advanced startup will be launched.
Alternatively, the keyboard combination shortcut Windows key + X can be
used while in Step 2 above.
Task Manager
To gain access to Advanced Startup through Task Manager, follow the steps
below:
Step 1: Use the keyboard combination shortcut of Ctrl + Alt + Delete
to open up the Windows 11 menu.
Step 2: At the bottom right corner, locate the Power button and click
on it.
Step 3: On the keyboard, press and hold down the Shift key, while
clicking on the Restart button at the same time.
Step 4: When done, the Advanced startup will be launched.
Lock screen
To launch Advanced Startup through Lock screen, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press the Windows key + L to open Lock Screen.
Step 2: Click anywhere on the screen.
Step 3: Locate the Power button at the bottom-right corner and click
on it.
Step 4: On the keyboard, press and hold the Shift key while clicking
Restart on the screen.
Step 5: When it is done, you will be in the Advanced Startup recovery
environment.
Windows 11 USB Media Set-up
If you are using USB media to open Windows Advanced Startup when
Windows cannot boot, you must have created a bootable installation flash
drive prior. Follow the steps below to use USB bootable media to arrive at
Advanced Startup recovery environment:
Step 1: Insert the USB media into the USB port and start the PC or
device.
Step 2: Click Next.
Step 3: At the bottom left corner of the next screen, click Repair your
computer.
Step 4: When completed, the Advanced Startup recovery environment
will open.
Automatic Repair on Windows 11
If Windows 11 won’t boot and you do not have an USB bootable flash drive,
you can follow the steps below to arrive at Advanced Startup:
Step 1: Switch on your PC
Step 2: Immediately you see the Windows blue logo, switch off your
PC again.
Step 3: Repeat the above steps two more times. Windows 11 will enter
into the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) on the third
restart.
Step 4: Next, you select your Windows 11 account
Step 5: Then type your password and confirm it
Step 6: Next, you click Continue
Step 7: Then, click Advanced startup to launch you there.
UEFI Firmware Settings
Basic Input Output System (BIOS) is not the same as Unified Extensible
Firmware Interface (UEFI), although the two terms are often interchangeable.
UEFI is a more recent system than BIOS, with better security features and
other advantages. Many motherboards prefer UEFI, but still support BIOS in
Legacy mode. It is because of these improved security features that Microsoft
has continued to use UEFI in this new Operating System. Windows 11 is not
compatible with BIOS or Legacy Compatibility Mode.
By enabling Secure Boot, which is a UEFI feature, you will be sure your PC
will be Windows 11 compatible. Nevertheless, there is a need to cross check
before enabling it. To check, go to the System Information app by typing it in
the search bar in the taskbar. If your PC says you are in UEFI mode, you
don’t need to do anything. But if you try to change it from Legacy mode to
UEFI, it is likely your PC won’t boot.
Users with new PCs manufactured with Windows 11 pre-installed need not
worry about the UEFI settings or Windows 11 compatibility in whatever
sense.
However, many would be upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows, which
means that their PCs would need to be set to UEFI to be able to install
Windows 11.
If Windows 10 is in Legacy mode, then there will be a need to change it to
UEFI, re-install before doing an upgrade to Windows 11. Be sure to always
document your BIOS or UEFI settings before changing them. This will be
helpful, in case you need to revert to the old settings.
Finding Your IP Address in Windows
11
Finding your Internet Protocol (IP) address in Windows 11 is almost the
same as it is obtainable in Windows 10. There are several ways to locate your
IP address. You can do so through the taskbar, Windows settings, through the
Control Panel, through Task Manager and by using Command Prompt.
How Can You Find Your IP Address
Using the Taskbar or Windows
Setting?
To locate your IP address via Windows settings, follow the steps below:
Step 2: Locate Network and Internet on the left side.
Step 3a: If you are on a wireless network, click on WiFi on the right-
hand side.
Step 3b: But if you are using wired Ethernet, click Ethernet.
Step 4: You will see the name of the network your PC is presently on,
click on it.
Step 5: Then locate and click on find the IPv4 address, which is the
local IP address you are looking for. There is also IPv6, but this is not
the local IP address.
Using the Control Panel?
Step 1: Type Control Panel in the search space (search bar) at the
bottom of the screen, open it and view it in Category mode.
Step 2: Locate Network and Internet.
Step 3: Afterwards, click on Network and Sharing Center.
Step 4: This is where you will click on the name of the WiFi network
your PC is connected to. If your PC is connected to a wired Ethernet,
that is what will show up here.
Step 5: A window will pop up, click on the Details button right beside
the Wireless Properties.
Step 6: A list of information will appear, look for the IPv4 address -
the information in front of it is the IP address you are looking for.
Using the Task Manager?
Another method of finding the IP address is through the Task Manager. To
do this, follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the taskbar, right-click on the Start icon and click on Task
Manager from the menu that will appear. Or, you can use keyboard
combination shortcut by pressing Windows key + Shift + Esc on your
keyboard.
Step 2: On the Task Manager window, locate the Performance tab and
click on it.
Step 3: Then click on the WiFi or Ethernet (this depends on the
connection your PC is using) on the left-hand side.
Step 4: At the bottom right-hand side, you will find your IP addresses.
Both IPv4 address and IPv6 address are there. IPv4 address is your
local IP address.
How can you find your IP address
using the Command Prompt?
Using the Command Prompt is another way of obtaining your IP address.
Follow the steps below to do this:
Open Command Prompt.
Step 2: Type ipconfig
Then, press Enter
Step 3: A long list will appear. In the list, locate Wireless LAN
adapter WiFi if you are using WiFi network. But if it is wired
Ethernet, look for an Ethernet adapter. In either case the IP address is
located right in front of it.

What is a Virtual Machine and How
Does It Work?
A Virtual Machine (VM) is a virtual emulation of a PC, which performs
virtually as if it is a physical Personal Computer (PC) system, but it is located
in a PC. It operates on a separate partition within the PC with dedicated
resources to be self-sufficient. It has its own memory, OS, CPU power, and
other resources.
Virtual Machines enable you to run an operating system (OS) like an app on
your PC while behaving like a separate computer system.
Examples of Virtual Machines (VM) are Citrix, Windows Virtual PC,
VirtualBox, Parallels Workstation, VMware Fusion, Hyper-V, KVM and
others.
There are basically two types of Virtual Machines:
1. Process Virtual Machines. A good example of this is the Java
Virtual Machine, which allows any OS to operate Java applications
on them as if it was part of the original computer system. Therefore,
it allows a process to run independently in any operating system,
while pretending to be part of the OS.
2. System Virtual Machines on the other hand is a full emulation of a
complete Personal Computer system sharing resources with the
main PC and each having their own operating system, which may be
different.
Virtual Machines are used for diverse purposes. They can be used to try out
software, apps, run different operating systems, and try out other stuff within
a safe environment without compromising the main PC. Virtual Machines
(VM) still use the same resources of the main PC, which means that the
performance of the Virtual Machine may be affected. Therefore, Virtual
Machines are less efficient or slower than the real computer systems.
Some benefits of using Virtual Machine (VM) are:
- Minimized cost of purchasing hardware, and so on.
- It gives an organization efficiency and agility being that tasks are
compact on a single PC.
- It reduces management costs.
- It saves physical space that would have been used to place and set-up
another PC.
- It also saves time.
- It supports legacy applications.
- It can be used to explore and work on risky applications, malwares
and so on, without it affecting the main PC.
Installing Windows 11 Beta to a
Virtual Machine
From the explanation in Section 10.1, it means it is possible to download
Windows 11 on top of Windows 10 or whatever operating system your PC is
using. As also explained in the previous section, you may want to install
Windows 11 beta (in a Virtual Machine) on top of your current operating
system, to minimise risks, as there are possible bugs.
Follow the steps below to install Windows 11 to a Virtual Machine, assuming
the operating system on the PC is Windows 10:
Step 1: Download and install VMware Workstation Player.
Step 2: Create a Windows 10 ISO file.
Step 3: Open the VMware Workstation Player and choose a new
Virtual Machine from the File Menu.
Step 4: Choose the location of the Windows 10 ISO file and click
Next.
Step 5: Give the Virtual Machine any name as you wish and click
Next.
Step 6: You will then need to allocate the maximum disk size of about
64GB and select Store virtual disk to one file. Then click Next
Step 7: Click Customize Hardware.
Step 8: Expand the RAM to at least 4GB, it can be up to 8GB. Click
Close.
Step 9: Select Power on this virtual machine after creation and click
Finish.
Step 10: The Virtual Machine will assume the ISO is a CD or DVD. It
will prompt you to press any key to boot from CD or DVD
Step 11: Follow the instructions afterwards to install Windows. Have
your Product Key handy and click Custom when given the option
between Custom and upgrade to install. Use your Microsoft account.
Step 12: When installation is completed, click Install Tools and
thereafter install the VMware graphics driver from the virtual optical
drive.
Step 13: Join the Windows Insider Program from the Update &
Security settings as instructed in Chapter 1 and click the Get Started
button.
Step 14: Choose Dev Channel and then click Confirm. Confirm again
and restart your virtual machine.
Step 15: Under Update & Security settings, click Windows Update.
Step 16: Then click Check for updates. Windows 11 Insider
Preview will download and install.
Step 17: After installation, click reboot your PC when it appears.
Install Windows 11 on Your
Computer
As a member of the Windows Insider Program (discussed in Chapter 1), you
can go ahead to install the Windows 11 beta, by following the steps below:
Step 1: Go to Settings.
Step 2: Then to Update & Security.
Step 3: Click on Check for Updates on the Windows Update tab.
Step 4: Windows 11 Insider Preview will automatically start
downloading after a few seconds.
Step 5: You will be prompted to restart your PC when the download is
complete.
Step 6: After the PC has installed the update, the Windows 11 beta will
be ready to use right away; and all the files and apps on the PC will
remain intact.
Installing and Setting up Windows 11
on Raspberry Pi 4
In a way, it is good news that Raspberry will be able to run the Windows 11
operating system, especially to users, whose older PCs will not be able to do
so.
The Requirements to install Windows
11 on a Raspberry Pi 4 device
The basic requirements to install Windows 11 on a Raspberry Pi 4 are:
1. Raspberry Pi 4
2. RAM: 4 GB or 8 GB
3. USB boot enabled
4. SSD with the minimum of 32 GB via a USB 3 caddy
5. Windows 10 PC
6. WiFi dongle or USB to Ethernet
7. Bluetooth dongle (optional)
8. Micro SD card with the recent Raspberry Pi OS.
Installing Windows 11 on Raspberry
Pi 4
To install Windows 11 on Raspberry Pi 4, follow the steps below:
Step 1: On the site UUDump, type Windows 11 Arm to search.
Step 2: click the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview for Arm64.
Step 3: You will see Choose language. Pick from the drop-down
menu to a desired language.
Step 4: Then you will see the Choose edition, select the box in front of
the edition you prefer: Windows Home or Windows Pro. You can
even decide to select both.
Step 5: Click Next.
Step 6: You will then see Select your download options, click to
select Download and convert to ISO.
In addition, click to select Integrate updates when available
(Windows Converter only).
Then click on the Create download package button.
Step 7: The file will download, after which you should extract it to the
desktop and name it Win11. Click the Extract button to do so.
Step 8: Go to desktop and open Win11 folder and double click on
Uup_download_windows.cmd
Step 9: When prompted, click More Info and also Run anyway.
Allow it to run and effect the changes.
Step 10: Then press 0 on your keyboard to exit.
Step 11: This is the time to insert your storage device into your PC.
Step 12: Go ahead and download Windows on Raspberry Imager.
This is a tool that will enable you to create a compatible image.
Step 13: Then extract the downloaded ZIP folder to the Win11 folder
you created in Step 7 needs to be extracted.
Step 14: Next is to open Windows on Raspberry.
Step 15: Select a language you prefer and click Next.
Step 16: This will bring you to the Select device tab. Two things to be
done here are: (1) select the desired storage drive and (2) select the
desired Device type; in this case, Raspberry Pi 4 / 400 [ARM64].
Then click Next.
Step 17: This will bring you to the Select Image tab. Under the
Image file, locate your Windows 11 Pi image you created in Step 12
and Step 13. Under the Windows edition, ensure Windows 11 Home
build 22000.1 is what is there.
Then click Next.
Step 18: This will bring you to the Select drivers tab. There are two
options here, select the option Use the latest package available on the
server.
Then, click Next.
Step 19: This will bring you to the UEFI Firmware tab, where you are
to select the UEFI Firmware. There are two options here, but select the
option Use the latest firmware available on the server.
Then, click Next.
Step 20: This will land you in the Configuration tab. All you need to
do here is to click Next at the bottom right corner.
Step 21: This will bring you to the last tab, install tab. You will see the
Installation Overview clearly written. Here is the summary of what
you have been setting up, so you need to confirm everything here. If all
is correct, then click install at the bottom right corner to install.
Step 22: When the installation process is completed, eject your storage
device. Then insert it to your Raspberry Pi 4 and boot it up. When this
is completed, Windows 11 is now installed on your Raspberry Pi 4
device.
Setting Up Windows 11 on a
Raspberry Pi 4 Device
To set up the installed Windows 11 (Section 10.4.2) on your Raspberry Pi 4
device, follow the steps below:
Step 1: When your Raspberry Pi 4 is booting up, press ESC to enter
into the Setup.
Step 2: Choose on Device Manager, right above Boot Manager and
press Enter.
Step 3: Here select Raspberry Pi Configuration. Once it opens,
locate Advanced Configuration and select it.
Step 4: Change the RAM limit from Limit RAM to 3 GB to
Disabled. Press F10 in order to save changes and then Exit.
Step 5: Afterwards, Select the option Display Configuration in order
to enter.
Step 6: Set up your preferred Resolution and press F10 to save then
Exit.
Step 7: You will exit the original Setup Menu. Here click Continue.
That’s all. Windows 11 OS is now installed and set up in your beloved
compact Raspberry Pi 4 device.
How to Enable Bluetooth on Windows
11
Bluetooth is ever needed, despite recent improvement on the way devices
connect. This is so as Bluetooth reduces wire connections making
connectivity tidier. PCs are ever needed to connect with printers, tablets,
routers, speakers, phones, TVs, scanners etc. The next two subsections will
give instructions on the ways Bluetooth can be enabled on Windows 11.
How to Enable Bluetooth Using the
Action Center
Turning on Bluetooth through the Action Center is the easiest and fastest of
the two methods. Using the Action Center to enable Bluetooth, follow the
steps below:
Step 1: At the bottom right corner of your display screen, click on the
Notification icon.
Step 2: Look for the Bluetooth tab and click it. This should enable
Bluetooth and the Bluetooth icon will turn blue. The icon of any
enabled Windows feature in the Action Center is always blue, except
when disabled.
How to Enable Bluetooth through
Settings
To enable Bluetooth through settings, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Press down the Windows key + I keys to open the Settings
page or open Settings from the Start Menu by clicking Start on the
taskbar. Alternatively, locate on the search icon in the taskbar, click it
and type settings to search for the app. Then open settings.
Step 2: Then click Devices.
Step 3: Afterwards, locate and click Bluetooth & Other Devices.
Step 4: Turn on Bluetooth to enable it.
How to Turn On Bluetooth When it
Won’t Turn on
It is possible to turn on Bluetooth, and it won’t turn on. It is expedient at this
point to check if the device supports Bluetooth, because so that you know
how to resolve it. Follow the steps below to check:
Step 1: Click the Search icon in the taskbar and type Device
Manager.
Step 2: Open Device Manager app.
Step 3: In the Device Manager window, locate Bluetooth in the list. If

settings to search for the app. Then open settings.
Step 2: Then click Update & Security.
Step 3: Then click Troubleshoot on the left
Step 4: Then click Additional Troubleshooters
Step 5: Locate Bluetooth from the options.
Step 6: Then click Run The Troubleshooter button, the
troubleshooter will run. It will identify and fix any issues with
Bluetooth on your PC.
How to Use Bluetooth Support
Service to Repair Bluetooth
The Bluetooth Support Service is by default set to manual. If set to automatic,
it can repair the issue with Bluetooth on your PC.
To turn the Bluetooth Services to automatic in order to repair Bluetooth,
follow the steps below:
Step 1: Locate on the search icon in the taskbar, click it and type
Services to search for the app. Then open it.
Step 2: You will see a list, look for Bluetooth Support Service there.
When you find it, right-click on it, then from the menu, click
Properties.
Step 3: Then change it from Manual to Automatic.
Step 4: Then click Start for the Service to run, thereafter click OK.
You should be able to turn Bluetooth on now and use it on your PC.
How to Screenshot on Windows 11
The method to use to screenshot is straightforward. By using the keyboard
combination of Windows key + PrtSc of your PC, the whole screen will be
munched. Note that this will include whatever is showing on the screen as at
the moment you screenshot, including the taskbar and other things on the
screen.
You can have access to the screenshots by locating the Screenshots folder in
the Pictures folder in the PC.
However, another method is to use the keyboard combination of Windows
key + Shift + S. This shortcut is a snipping tool that allows you to screenshot
the whole screen like the other shortcut, but also allows you to screenshot
parts of the screen in different shapes. After pressing the combination, a
menu will appear that will allow you to do. Your choice will be saved to
clipboard, which you can now paste in any image supporting application you
desire.

How to Factory Reset Windows 11
The advantages of resetting your Windows 11 to factory default settings will
resolve most of the problems your Windows is having. When you reset, it is
possible that you won’t lose important files and data from your PC. We will
look at the two major ways by which you can factory reset your Windows 11.
Resetting Your Windows 11 to
Factory Settings through Windows
Settings
One method to reset your new Windows 11 to factory settings is by doing so
through Windows Settings. To do this, follow the steps below:
Step 2: Click on Update & Security in the Settings page.
Step 3: On the left side, click Recovery.
Step 4: On the right side, click Reset PC.
Step 5: An option will appear to choose between Keep my files or
Remove everything. Decide and click on one.
Step 6: The screen will change, asking you: How would you like to
reinstall Windows? Click on either Cloud download or Local
reinstall. In this instance, we are clicking on Local reinstall.
Step 7: Another screen will appear asking you to confirm your choice
by either going Back or Next or Cancel. Click Next to proceed.
Step 8: Another blue screen will appear analyzing what a reset will do
and just to be sure you would love to proceed. You have to decide
between Reset and Cancel.
Click Reset to finally start the resetting process. During the resetting
process, your PC will reset a few times, but you do not need to do
anything until it is completed.
Resetting your Windows 11 to Factory
settings using Command Prompt

Open Command Prompt.
Step 2: Type
systemreset -factoryreset
Then, press Enter.
Step 3: Then your PC starts to reset Windows in the normal dialog box
from Command Prompt.
Upgrading Windows 10 to Windows
11
The instruction on how to download and install Windows 11 was fully given
in Chapter 1. That same method can also be used to upgrade Windows 10 to
Windows 11. However, the easier and simpler steps below are to be followed
if you desire to upgrade your PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11:
Step 1: On the keyboard of your Windows 10 PC, press the Windows
+ I keys to open the Settings page or open Settings from the Start
Menu.
Step 2: On the opened Windows 10 settings page, click Updates &
Security from the options there.
Step 3: Then click Check for updates.
Step 4: Windows 10 will start checking for new updates and a list of
updates will come up.
Step 5: Locate Windows 11 upgrade from the list to click on it.
Step 6: Click Download and Install.
That is all.
Is it Free to Upgrade from Windows
10 to Windows 11?
The launch of Windows 11 does not affect the OS experience of users of
Windows 10 if they insist on continuing to use it. However, Windows 11 is
made available, free of charge, to Windows 10 users, who desire to upgrade.
There are many benefits of an upgrade as the new Windows has better
features and several improvements following the trends of contemporary
needs and evolution of computer systems in whatever mode and size.
Microsoft Company, however, will continue to give support to Windows 10
users up until 2025.
Is Windows 11 Compatible with My
Computer?
The minimum system requirements for Windows 11, as published by
Microsoft, are listed thus:
● Processor: 1GHz or faster. 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit
processor or system on a chip (SoC).
● RAM: 4 GB minimum.
● Storage: 64 GB minimum.
● Display: 9” or greater display screen, high definition display(720p).
● Graphics card: DirectX 12 or higher , with a WDDM 2.0 driver.
● Security: UEFI firmware, Secure boot and TPM version 2.0
compatible,
Microsoft is officially retiring 32-bit Windows, with the launch of the

Windows 11 OS. 32-bit Windows apps will, however, continue to enjoy
support.
Older PCs are not expected to meet Windows 11 stringent requirements for
processors. Two or higher cores on a 64-bit processor will be good to go. PCs
built since 2019 will pass all the Windows 11 compatibility requirements.
However, there are some exceptions from older generation PCs.
Most PCs built from around 2015 have hardware security components called
the Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) support. There might be a need to
enable this in the firmware setting if this is not already done.
Devices with display screens smaller than 9 inches will not work with the
new Operating System.
For Windows 10, a minimum storage of 16 GB and a minimum 2 GB RAM
were required. With Windows 11, however, minima of 64 GB and 4 GB are
required respectively for the storage and the RAM. This means that a PC with
lesser configuration will need to be fixed, before upgrading to the latest
version.
A steady Internet connection is required to keep Windows 11 up to date, as
there are features that won’t work without it.
How Do You Clone a Hard Drive to
an SSD in Windows 11?
There are various cloning applications that can be used to clone a Hard disk
drive (HDD) to Solid-state drive (SSD) in Windows 11. The steps to follow
for each software may differ, so therefore the following instruction is
specifying the steps to take for a specific software.
Before you begin cloning, ensure the SSD is connected to your PC through
any of the suitable ports.
Using AOMEI Backupper Standard, a cloning application:
Step 1: Download and install AOMEI Backupper Standard.
Step 2: Open the cloning application installed.
Step 3: Click on Clone on the left.
Step 4: Then click Disk Clone from the options on the right.
Step 5: Click one of the options to either clone your OS as well as the
data, or clone only your files.
Step 6: Select the source disk, which is the HDD you wish to clone.
Step 7: Select the destination disk, which is the SSD.
Step 8: Then click Next.
Step 9: Next, check the SSD alignment option at the bottom of the
screen; and then click Start Clone to start the process of cloning from
HDD to SSD.
Step 10: Wait patiently until the process is completed.
