 Put the word ‘charity’ on the board and ask pupils what the word means to them.
 Allow pupils time to discuss their ideas with their talk partner(s) then collect responses.

 Draw pupils' attention to the main picture on the page and ask them to tell you what they can see (a man in a glass box
hanging from a crane with people watching from below).
 Ask pupils to guess why he might be doing this (to raise money for charity), if they find it unusual, etc. and elicit answers.
 Ask pupils to read through the text and underline any unknown words at the same time.
 Ask pupils the question in the rubric and elicit an answer. (Student’s book 22 Activity B)

 Ask pupils to look at the table and complete it with information from the text.

 Ask pupils which charity they would like to raise money for and what unusual activity would they do to raise money.
POST-LESSON  Encourage pupils to use their imaginations to come up with some unusual ideas.
 When ready, collect responses.
