Standardized Tests
What are different types of
child assessment systems?
As future educator How will
you implement assessment
into your program?
•Assessment is a cycle.
-Instruct
-Observe
-Document, Reflect.
-Analyze, Evaluate.
-Summarize, Plan, and
Communicate.

RUBRICS
-rubric is a scoring tool that identifies the
different criteria relevant to an assignment,
assessment, or learning outcome and states
the possible levels of achievement in a
specific, clear, and objective way.
TWO TYPES OF
RUBRICS
Holistic Rubrics
and
Analytic rubrics
HOLISTIC RUBRICS
A holistic rubric includes all the
criteria (such as clarity, organization,
mechanics, etc.) to be considered
together and included in a single
evaluation.
ADVANTAGES OF
HOLISTIC RUBRIC
• Can place an emphasis on what learners can
demonstrate rather than what they cannot
• Save grader time by minimizing the number of
evaluations to be made for each student
• Can be used consistently across raters,
provided they have all been trained
DISADVANTAGES OF HOLISTIC
RUBRIC
• Provide less specific feedback than
analytic/descriptive rubrics
• Can be difficult to choose a score when a
student’s work is at varying levels across the
criteria
• Any weighting of criteria cannot be indicated
in the rubric
Analytic / Descriptive Rubric

An analytic or descriptive rubric often

takes the form of a table with levels of
performance listed across the top row.
Advantages of Analytic Rubric
• Provide detailed feedback on areas of strength
or weakness
• Each criterion can be weighted to reflect its
relative importance
Disadvantages of Analytic
Rubric
• More time-consuming to create and use
than a holistic rubric
• May not be used consistently across
raters unless the cells are well defined
• May result in giving less personalized
feedback
Why are Rubrics
important?
CHILD PORTFOLIO
ASSESSMENT
PORTFOLIO
A Portfolio is a collection of a student
work that has been selected and
organized.
To show student progress.
TYPES OF PORTFOLIOS
DOCUMENTARY PORTFOLIO
Consist of collection of day-to-day work
of students
They reflect the progress of a students in
a particular area of learning
SHOW PORTFOLIO
Purposeful collections of limited
amount of student’s work.
May contain art projects.
Usually finished products to display the
best he/she accomplished in a given
period.
ASSESSMENT PORTFOLIO
Intended to document what a student
has learned on intended learning
outcomes.
DEVELOPMENTAL PORTFOLIO
Consists of the student’s work over an
extended time frame to reveal the
student’s progress in meeting learning
targets.
STAGES IN IMPLEMENTING PORTFOLIO
ASSESSMENT EFFECTIVELY
STAGE 1: Identifying learning outcomes to assess
through portfolio.
STAGE 2: Introducing the idea of portfolio
assessment to your class.
STAGE 3: Specification of portfolio content.
STAGE 4: Giving clear and detailed guidelines for
portfolio presentation.
CONTENT OF A PORTFOLIO

Only the best work of students.

Evidences of individual student’s work.
Evidences of group work.
BENEFITS OF HAVING PORTFOLIO
1. It can monitor the learning progress of a
students over a given period.
2. It can show students best work.
3. It can compare the students best work from
the past to present.
4. It can provide documentary evidence of
learning to teachers, parents, and
stakeholders.
STANDARDIZED
ASSESSMENT
(Validity, Realibility,
And Usability)
STANDARDIZED
ASSESSMENT
-provide a way to assess students'
knowledge, skills, and abilities in a
consistent and objective manner.
VALIDITY
-a generic term used to define the
degree to which the test measures
what it claims to measure.
4 types of validity
1. content validity
2.criterion-related validity
3.construct validity
4. face validity
Reliability
-is the degree of consistency of a
measure. A test will be reliable when
it gives the same repeated result
under the same conditions.
4 types of Reliability

1.Test-retest reliability
2.Interrater reliability
3.Parallel forms reliability.
4.Internal consistency
Usability
-refers to the ease of use and
overall user experience of a
product, system, or website.
