Hi I am Keyren. My full name is Keyren Agustin. I am


a second year student of junior high school. I am going
to tell you about my family members’ daily routine. I
usually get up at about 5:00 in the morning. I always
take a bath. I don’t forget to wash my teeth. Then, I get
dressed and go downstairs to have breakfast with my
family. We have milk, bread, and some bread for our
breakfast. I go to school at 6:15 a.m and arrive at 6.35
a.m. I go to school by bus. I am never late for school.
My school finishes at 2:10 p.m. I go home straight
away afterward. In the afternoon, I usually help my
mother to do some chores, like sweep the floor, do the
dishes, and help my father in the garden Sometimes, I
play football with my friends. In the evening, I always
do my homework. I seldom watch TV. I usually go to
bed at about 9:30 p.m.

My father is a banker. He usually goes to work at 7
in the morning. Before he leaves home, he often
reads some newspaper. He always drives to his
office. My father finishes work and leaves his office
at 5 p.m. He sometimes does some exercise. He often
mows the lawn behind our house. He does not forget
to feed our dog. In the evening, he usually watches
TV with my mother after dinner.
My mother is a nurse. She works in a hospital. She
always wakes up so early in the morning and
prepares breakfast for us. She usually goes to work
at 7 in the morning. She sometimes leaves the
house at 7:30 a.m. She usually comes back from
work at 3:30 in the afternoon. Then, she cooks
meals for our dinner. After that, she usually
watches TV with my father. She sometimes reads
her books and magazine.

1 The Simple Present Tense

The simple present expresses daily habits or usual activities/routines.


(Simple present digunakan untuk menyatakan kebiasaan sehari-hari
atau aktivitas yang sering dilakukan)

For example :
I usually get up early in the morning
She usually goes to work at 7:00 a.m.
My father reads some newspaper every morning
The students clean their classroom everyday

The simple present is also used to express general statements of fact or


general truth. (Simple present juga digunakan untuk menyatakan fakta
atau kebenaran umum)

For example :
Dogs bark. (fact/general truth)
A snake eats fish, frogs, birds, mammals, and other small snakes
The sun rises from the East (Matahri terbit dari timur)

3 Final -S

(a) SINGULAR : one bird


(b) PLURAL : two birds, three SINGULAR : one, not two or more
birds, many birds, all birds, PLURAL : two, three, or more
etc.

(c) Birds sing A plural noun ends in -s, as in (c).


(d) A bird sings A singular verb ends in -s, as in (d)

(e) A singular verb follows a singular

4 Spelling of Final -s/-es

5 Frequency Adverbs

Adverb of frequency merupakan kata yang menerangkan seberapa sering kita


melakukan suatu tindakan atau aktivitas (verb) atau seberapa sering suatu hal
atau peristiwa terjadi.
Beberapa adverb of indefinite frequency diurutkan dari tingkat keseringannya:
always (selalu), usually (biasanya), normally (biasanya), often (sering),
sometimes (kadang-kadang), occasionally (kadang-kadang), seldom (jarang),
rarely (jarang), hardly ever (hampir tidak pernah), never (tidak pernah).

Ada pula adverb of frequency yang menerangkan frekuensi aktivitas atau
kejadian secara spesifik (adverbs of definite frequency) yaitu daily (setiap hari),
monthly (setiap bulan), annually (setiap tahun), every (setiap), once (sekali),
twice (dua kali), three times (tiga kali), dan lain-lain.
