These documents respectively correspond to the following install/upgrade scenarios:

New Installations of Release 12.2 using the EBS Rapid Install wizard
Upgrades of EBS from versions 11i, 12.0, 12.1 to 12.2 using the EBS Rapid Install wizard

For Linux x86-64 Installation and Upgrade Notes corresponding to the older Release 12.1 version, see My Oracle Support
Knowledge Document 761566.1, Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.1.1) for Linux x86-64.

Specific steps in this document may be conditional depending on the scenario and will be highlighted as such.

This document applies to 64-bit Linux operating systems on the x86-64 hardware architecture.

Note: E-Business Suite Release 12 patches are generally built on Linux x86 (32-bit), and users should pick Linux x86
when choosing platform-specific 12.2 patches to be applied on Linux x86-64 middle tiers. 32-bit E-Business Suite Linux
x86 patches can be applied on 64-bit Linux x86-64 operating systems.

It should be noted that technology components bundled with E-Business Suite Release 12 may be built on Linux x86-64.
For example, Oracle Database patches are built on Linux x86-64 and users should pick Linux x86-64 when choosing
platform-specific Database patches to be applied on the database tier. Fusion Middleware version 11gR1 (11.1.1.x)
patches are also built on Linux x86-64 and should be chosen for platform-specific middleware patches applied on the
application tier - Forms/Reports 10gR2 (10.1.2.3) patches for the application tier are built on Linux x86.

1: Starting with EBS 12.2.6, Oracle Linux/Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 is not certified for Advanced Supply Chain
Planning (APS) products, specifically the 64-bit executables for APS. You must be on OL/RHEL 6 Update 4 (6.4) or higher to
run these APS products.
2
: Oracle Linux 8 and RHEL 8 are certified for new installations and upgrades to 12.2 as well as cloning of an existing EBS 12.2
environment.
3
: Oracle Linux and RHEL version 5 and SLES versions 10 and 11 were previously certified with 12.2 but are no longer actively
supported by the vendors. See Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy page, Red Hat's RHEL Life Cycle page and SUSE's Product
Support lifecycle page for more information. Customers should upgrade to later OS versions for use with EBS 12.2.
4: SLES 12 SP5 and SLES 15 should be used with a specific version of binutils to avoid an issue that causes an underlying
technology component to crash (see the 'Required Packages' and Known Issues sections below).

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SearchDocDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=6rp87d5d6_52 2/32

Note: In-place major OS upgrades (such as from Oracle Linux version 6 to 7) are not certified with Oracle E-Business
Suite. Customers running E-Business Suite who are planning to upgrade to a later major OS version are advised to install
the OS on a separate target environment that meets all requirements listed in this document before cloning their E-
Business Suite instance to it.

Minor OS version in-place upgrades such as from Oracle Linux 7 Update 1 to Oracle Linux 7 Update 2 (or higher) are
certified.

An in-place major OS upgrade for the Oracle Exadata database tier is supported and certified as part of the Exadata
software update process as documented here.

Footnotes:

*After installing these patches, run the command "ldconfig -v" to create necessary links and cache to the most recent shared
libraries. After running "ldconfig -v", re-create (as root) all symbolic links pointing to system libraries that may have been
done manually.

**The openmotif version must be 2.1.30, and the package name must be in the following format: openmotif21-2.1.30.xxx.
For example, openmotif-2.2.3.10.RHEL4.5 is not supported.

Linux Containers (LXC)

Linux Containers (LXC) is a lightweight virtualization solution that enables running multiple Linux instances that are isolated
from each other on the same host. These LXC instances have processes that have their own private view of the OS with its
own process id (PID) space, file system structure and network interfaces. LXC allows the use of container OS versions that are
different from that of the host - for example, one can run OL 6 or 7 Containers in an Oracle Linux 6.6 host.

For information on features, installing and configuring Linux Containers on Oracle Linux, refer to Chapter 8: Linux Containers in
the Oracle Linux Administrator's Solutions Guide for Release 6 or Oracle Linux 7 Working with LXC.

Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2's application tier is certified with LXC with the UEK R3 (QU6) or higher- users must review
associated documentation and meet the following requirements:

Operating Systems requirements - see 'Supported Oracle Linux Container Versions' in the Documentation References
section below
Kernel Requirements - Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Release 3 Quarterly Update 6 (3.8.13-98) or higher
Host RPM requirements for the following x86_64 lxc userspace packages:

lxc-libs-1.0.7-2.0.8 or higher
Check and configure kernel parameters, ulimit settings (in limits.conf) and swap size requirements on the host as
documented in the 'Other Requirements' section of this document
The LXC container running EBS 12.2 must be created with the "--privileged" flag
Install all required RPM packages on the Container following the 'Operating Systems Requirements' section of this
document
Check and configure certain container-specific kernel parameters and ulimit settings (in limits.conf) on the Container as
documented in the 'Other Requirements' section of this document. These values should be equal to or less than the
values set on the host (see Linux documentation in the section below). Specific kernel parameter values to be
configured on the Container are:
kernel.sem
kernel.shmall
kernel.shmmax
kernel.shmmni
kernel.msgmax
kernel.msgmnb
kernel.msgmni

There is a known issue in JDK 7 where it does not recognize LXC cgroup memory and CPU limits - this has been
addressed in an update to JDK 8, though this version of the JDK is not yet certified for EBS 12.2 on the application tier.
In the meantime, you can use the following Java parameters to limit specific resources (number of garbage collection
and compiler threads, memory heap) for an EBS environment running in an LXC:
-XX:ParallelGCThreads
-XX:CICompilerCount
-Xmx
You should review EBS documentation on how to set these parameters for application tier OACORE and other Java
services through the WLS console.

You may see excessive usage of CPUs when running EBS maintenance tools such as ADOP in an LXC as it inherits the
total number of CPUs from the parent container. This may be limited by setting the lxc.cgroup.cpuset.cpus parameter to
the CPU cores to be assigned for the processes in the LXC. For example, to restrict a container to the first 3 cores,
enter:

# lxc-cgroup -n <container name> cpuset.cpus 0,2

You should review the Oracle Linux Containers section on 'Controllng Container Resources' for more information.

SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux)

SELinux is a security enhancement to Linux allowing system administrators finer control over access to system resources by
users and applications.

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SearchDocDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=6rp87d5d6_52 11/32
2/21/23, 10:23 AM Document Display

Starting with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Oracle Linux version 6, SELinux is enabled by default during OS installation with a
mode of 'enforcing'. The status of SELinux in a system can be checked by running the 'sestatus' command - other modes are:

'disabled' where SELinux is disabled completely

'permissive' where warnings are logged to a file but not strictly enfored

The file /etc/selinux/config is the main SELinux configuration file that sets the mode and policy of SELinux in a system, while
warnings are logged to /var/log/messages. Check and review vendor-specific documentation for further details on SELinux
administration and maintenance.

Release 12.2 has been tested with SELinux on RHEL/Oracle Linux 6 with the use of the 'enforcing' mode enabled and the
default 'targeted' policy. Users who find unforeseen issues with the 'enforcing' mode and specific policies should file an Oracle
Support Service Request with details including the SELinux message and their use case. The use of the 'permissive' mode is
certified and can be used as an alternative.

CIS (Center for Internet Security) and STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) Benchmarks

The CIS benchmark is a set of consensus-based guidelines for security configurations for both cloud and on-premise
environments. STIG is a benchmark of security standards and requirements set by the Defense Information Systems Agency
(DISA). These benchmarks ensure compliance with security requirements for operating system environments.

CIS and STIG benchmarks have been tested with Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 by cloning an existing environment to a CIS or
STIG environment with the following requirements:

Install the Oracle E-Business Suite Preinstallation RPM on the target envrionment.
Open ports required for the Oracle Database using the following command for CIS:

# iptables -A INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport <Port> -j ACCEPT

For STIG, use the following to open the ports required:

# firewall-cmd --zone=public --add-rich-rule='rule family=ipv4 source address=<required-cidr-block> port por

Restart the iptables or firewalld service to ensure that the port is open.

Ensure that the subnet level firewall communication is enabled for that required port.

Users who find unforeseen issues with the use of CIS and STIG images should file an Oracle Support Service Request with
details.

Java Requirements

A number of Java Development Kits (JDK) and Java Runtime Environments (JRE) are included with Oracle E-Business Suite

If necessary, see the operating system documentation for information about how to configure additional swap space.

Patching Oracle E-Business Suite

Note: When querying for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 patches on My Oracle Support and selecting Linux x86-64 in
the Platform dropdown list, it will re-direct you to a Linux x86 patch. This patch may be applied to 64-bit Linux operating
systems.

Patching Fusion Middleware in Oracle E-Business Suite

When applying OPatch patches to Fusion Middleware, users must run opatch with the '-jdk <$FMW_HOME/webtier/jdk>'
option due to a bug with opatch. For example,

$ echo $ORACLE_HOME
/d1/oracle/P122/at1/FMW_Home/webtier
$ cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch
$ ./opatch lsinventory -jdk $ORACLE_HOME/jdk

Kernel Settings

Edit the /etc/sysctl.conf file to configure your kernel settings to the minimum values shown below. After editing the file, use
the "sysctl -p" command or restart the system to invoke the new settings.

Note: If the current value for any parameter is higher than the value listed in the following table, then do not change the
value of that parameter.

The following table lists the kernel settings that should be set for the OS:

Parameter Value
kernel.semmsl 2561
kernel.semmns 320001
kernel.semopm 1001

net.ipv4.tcp_tw_recycle 05
net.core.rmem_default 262144
net.core.rmem_max 4194304
net.core.wmem_default 262144
net.core.wmem_max 1048576

1: set using the following entry in the /etc/sysctl.conf file

kernel.sem = 256 32000 100 142

2: If running the database tier separately, the kernel parameter on the server hosting the Database must be the higher of half
the size of the physical memory (in bytes) and 4294967295
3: The values recommended for the local port range may need to be adjusted according to the specific needs of the user's
environment in order to avoid port conflicts.
4: The listed value is the minimum requirement - we recommend an actual setting that is at least equal to the sum of all the

SGAs on the system, divided by the page size.

5: The value of this parameter is recommended to be 0 (disabled, which is the default value) for most modern systems. This
parameter can also be omitted from the sysctl.conf file for this default value to be in effect. This resolves an issue previously
documented with Forms potentially hanging on Windows when switching between desktop applications.

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES), ensure that you set the following kernel parameter to the gid of the group used as
the dba group. For example, on a system using a group named dba with the dba:!:104:oracle entry in the /etc/group file, the
hugetlb_shm_group kernel parameter should be set to the following value:

vm.hugetlb_shm_group = 104

Domain Name System (DNS) Resolver Parameters

Two Domain Name System (DNS) resolver parameters (timeout and attempts) are set by default to low values when the
operating system is installed. These low values may cause network connections to an Oracle database to fail. If this happens,
add or update the following entries to these minimum settings in the /etc/resolv.conf file on each server node:

options attempts:5
options timeout:15

Verifying Host Names

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SearchDocDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=6rp87d5d6_52 15/32
2/21/23, 10:23 AM Document Display

Use the following to verify host name settings:

For Oracle Linux 6, 7, and 8 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, 7 and 8:

1. Verify that the /etc/hosts file is formatted as follows:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

[ip_address] [node_name].[domain_name] [node_name]

2. For Oracle Linux/RHEL 6, verify that the /etc/sysconfig/network file is formatted as follows:

HOSTNAME=[node_name].[domain_name]

or as follows:

HOSTNAME=[node_name]
NISDOMAIN=[domain_name]

For Oracle Linux/RHEL 7 and 8, verify that the entry in /etc/hostname is as follows:

[node_name].[domain_name]

and use the hostnamectl command to change it if necessary.

3. If the /etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/network file exists, remove it.

4. If you changed any files in the previous steps, restart the system.

For SUSE Linux SLES 12 and 15:

1. Verify that the /etc/hosts file is formatted as follows:

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

[ip_address] [node_name].[domain_name] [node_name]

2. If you changed any files in the previous step, restart the system.

Modify ulimit settings in limits.conf

Open the /etc/security/limits.conf file and change the existing ulimit settings for "hard" and "soft" parameters as follows.
Restart the system after making changes.

Note: If the current value for any parameter is higher than the value listed below, do not change the value of that
parameter as the following are suggested minimum values.

* hard nofile 65536

* soft nofile 4096
* hard nproc 16384
* soft nproc 2047
* hard stack 16384
* soft stack 10240

Threading Model in Linux must be NPTL

There are two threading models implemented in Linux - LinuxThreads (an older implementation which is not supported
starting in glibc 2.4) and the modern NPTL (Native POSIX Threads Library). In order to install and run the E-Business Suite on
Linux, the NPTL model must be the configured threading implementation for the operating system. This can be checked with
the command:

# getconf GNU_LIBPTHREAD_VERSION
NPTL 2.3.4

Create required link to Motif library (Oracle Linux 7 and 8, RHEL 7 and 8, and SLES 12 and 15 only)

Perform the following command (as root on your system) to create a required link to the Motif library for Oracle Forms and
Reports:

# cd /usr/lib
# ln -s libXm.so.4.0.4 libXm.so.2

Oracle E-Business Suite Preinstallation RPM (available for Oracle Linux 6, 7 and 8)

The Oracle E-Business Suite Preinstallation RPM (oracle-ebs-server-R12-preinstall) for Oracle Linux 6, 7 and 8 is available on
the Oracle Unbreakable Linux Network (ULN, which requires a support contract) or from the Oracle Linux yum server (under
the 'Add-ons' channel) for these Oracle Linux operating systems. It is recommended that this x86_64 rpm be installed on top
of a 'minimal' install of Oracle Linux to provide just the necessary packages to install and run Oracle E-Business Suite.

As with the Oracle Database Preinstallation RPMs, the Oracle E-Business Suite Preinstallation RPM provides all required Linux
packages for both the EBS application and database tiers, while configuring the environments with particular kernel and other
values to meet most of the requirements published in this document.

Note: Customers on Exadata (Database Machine, Cloud Machine, Cloud Service) should not install the E-Business Suite
Preinstallation RPM as the system already contains all required packages and settings needed to run the Oracle Database.

This preinstallation rpm will significantly reduce the preparation time of the environment prior to installing, upgrading or
cloning an E-Business Suite R12 instance by performing the following tasks:

downloading and installing all software package versions and dependencies required for installing E-Business Suite R12
creating the users oracle and applmgr for use as owners of the database and application tiers respectively, while setting
hard and soft shell resource limits in /etc/security/limits.d/oracle-ebs-server-R12-preinstall.conf
updating kernel parameters in /etc/sysctl.conf to recommended values
sets DNS resolver parameters in /etc/resolv.conf to minimum recommended values
sets 'numa=off' in the kernel commandline
disables 'Transparent Huge Pages (THP)' for Oracle Linux 6, 7 and 8 if it is enabled

The following are steps needed to install the rpm using public-yum, with sample output from an Oracle Linux 6 installation:

1. As an authorized user (such as root), retrieve the file that configures repository locations:

# cd /etc/yum.repos.d
# wget https://yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol6.repo

For Oracle Linux 7, replace 'public-yum-ol6.repo' in the command above with 'public-yum-ol7.repo'.

For Oracle Linux 8, review the documentation on DNF and repository configurations, perform the following
commands to install the preinstallation rpm using the DNF utility, and then skip to Step 4:

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SearchDocDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=6rp87d5d6_52 17/32

# dnf install oraclelinux-release -y

# dnf config-manager --set-enabled ol8_addons
# dnf install oracle-ebs-server-R12-preinstall.x86_64

2. Using a text editor for Oracle Linux 6 or 7, change the field 'enabled=0' to 'enabled=1' for the repositories
corresponding to the machine's operating system while also enabling the 'addons' channel. Here's an example of
a repo file's entries:

Versions listed above are an example - actual versions may be different based on updates to the packages.

Detailed log and backup files are available under /var/log/oracle-ebs-server-R12-preinstall.

4. While the above installation of the preinstallation rpm includes all required packages and sets kernel
parameters and other system values, it is still necessary to perform a few additional steps prior to using this
environment for an E-Business Suite installation:

4a. Ensure that swap space meets the requirements as documented in the 'Swap Space' section.
4b. Ensure that the hostname settings meet the requirements as documented in the ' Verifying
Host Names' section.
4c. Check threading model as documented in the 'Threading Model in Linux must be NPTL' section.
4d. Check for OPMN port conflict.
4e. Check /etc/services for size as documented below.

5. Users can now either clone an existing E-Business Suite environment to the new Linux system or install the E-
Business Suite using the Rapid Install by using the rapidwiz utility after correctly downloading and staging the E-
Business Suite media as documented in Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid Install:

$ cd /u01/StageR122/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz/bin
$ buildStage.sh
$ cd ..
$ ./rapidwiz

Users should review the Installation Guide for further details, as well as Release Update Pack (RUP) READMEs as
applicable.

BEFORE INSTALLING OR UPGRADING

Note: If the Release 12.2 installation or upgrade is performed with the Rapid Install wizard (either a new R12 installation
or upgrade from 11i, 12.0 or 12.1 to 12.2), it is highly recommended to use the latest startCD version and any additional
bundle patches in order to obtain the newest set of patches and other technologies required to successfully install and
run E-Business Suite. Review the 'Current Version of startCD ' section of the My Oracle Support Knowledge Document

OPMN port conflict

Note: By default, the OPMN service of the Application Server technology stack listens on port 6000 when started up
during Rapid Install. This can conflict with the X11 port used for the graphics console on Linux servers and prevent Rapid
Install from completing.

To address this issue, perform the following steps before installing or upgrading:

Check if the port 6000 is being used ("netstat -a | grep 6000")

If so, you should disable the graphics console login process on the Linux server. This can be accomplished by logging in
as root and issuing the following commands:
Find the process that uses port 6000 by the command "lsof -i TCP:6000".
Use "kill -9" to abort the process found in the previous step
Confirm that nothing is listening at port 6000 ("netstat -a | grep 6000")
Modify /etc/inittab by changing "id:5:initdefault:" to "id:3:initdefault:"
Run "/sbin/init 3" to restart dtlogin

Unset environment variable before installing (SLES 12 only)

Unset the ENV environment variable prior to installing (to avoid failure of the registration of the 10.1.2 Oracle Home during
install):

$ unset ENV

Check /etc/services for size

To avoid a Java stack overflow during the registration of the 10.1.2 Oracle Home while installing 12.2, it is necessary to backup
the /etc/services file, remove commented lines in the file and then restore the file after installing 12.2 if there are a large
number of commented lines (> ~1300) in the file.

INSTALLING OR UPGRADING

Perform the installation or upgrade following the documentation (Oracle E-Business Suite Installation Guide: Using Rapid
Install, Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide: Release 11i to Release 12.2 or Oracle E-Business Suite Upgrade Guide: Release
12.0 and 12.1 to Release 12.2) relevant to the specific installation or upgrade scenario described above.

Ignore Web Server Install Pre-requisite check failure in startCD 49 or earlier (Oracle Linux 7 and RHEL 7 only)

While installing EBS 12.2 and its required technology components (Fusion Middleware and Database) using startCD 49 or
earlier on the above operating systems, Rapid Install may report pre-requisite check failures such as:

AFTER INSTALLING OR UPGRADING

Perform the following steps after installing or upgrading to Release 12.2 and before allowing users to access the system.

Upgrade Oracle Web Tier (Oracle Linux 7 and RHEL 7 only)

Customers who have performed a fresh installation of EBS 12.2 on OL/RHEL 7 using startCD 49 or earlier must upgrade the
Oracle Web Tier to 11.1.1.7 (11gR1 PS6) or higher following:

My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1590356.1, Upgrading Oracle Fusion Middleware WebTier of Oracle E-Business
Suite Release 12.2 to the latest 11gR1 (11.1.1.x) PatchSet

The Web Tier should be upgraded after applying the latest 12.2 Release Update Pack (12.2.3 or higher) to the newly installed
12.2.0 environment.

Note (for upgrades to Web Tier 11.1.1.7 only):

1. When installing Web Tier 11.1.1.7, apply Patch 19854840 and follow the patch README to start the installer. If an error

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SearchDocDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=6rp87d5d6_52 23/32
2/21/23, 10:23 AM Document Display

window pops up ("Error in invoking target 'install' of makefile '<FMW_HOME>/webtier/webcache/lib/ins_calypso.mk'" ),

click 'Continue' and ignore the error. This will be addressed during the application of the Patch 19458142 below.
2. Apply the following patches as a post install step for Web Tier:
- Patch 21081177 (to fix the issue with OHS start up failing with missing library libpcre.so.0)
- Patch 19458142

Customers who are cloning an existing EBS environment (installed with startCD 49 or earlier) to a new OL/RHEL 7 system
must upgrade Oracle Web Tier prior to performing the clone (as noted above in the 'Before Installing or Upgrading' section).

Beginning with startCD 50, this Web Tier upgrade step is not necessary as the Oracle Web Tier version delivered with EBS
Rapid Install is version 11.1.1.7.

Upgrade JDK (Oracle Linux 7, RHEL 7, Oracle Linux 8 and RHEL 8 only)

Customers who have performed a fresh installation of EBS 12.2 must review and follow the instructions posted in the

You should review all patches and requirements as noted in:

My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1361221.1, Release 12.2.x Oracle Value Chain Planning Installation Notes -
Known Issues, FAQ and Latest Patch Information

Deactivate unsupported products (SLES 15)

After cloning or migrating an existing Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 installation to the target SLES 15 environment, follow these
steps:

Download Patch 33488563 and follow the patch README to run the script to deactivate EBS products not supported on
SLES 15

This patch will need to be downloaded and re-run after the application of an EBS Release Update Pack (RUP).

The following relink error after the application of the patch can be ignored:

"Relink of module "WPCFSQ" failed.

LD_LIBRARY_PATH Environment Variable

Dynamic libraries are used as part of the relinking and execution processes. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable is
used by Oracle E-Business Suite to locate the required dynamic libraries at runtime - this variable is set by the Rapid Install
wizard during the installation of EBS as well as by the Rapid Clone script (adcfgclone) when configuring the target system.

If you need to change these values, use the Edit Parameters function of the OAM AutoConfig tool (by logging in as 'System
Administrator' responsibility, clicking on 'System Administrator', selecting 'AutoConfig' under 'Oracle Applications Manager', and
clicking on the 'Environments' tab):

On each application tier server node:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in three places:

$APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env
$ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.2/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.2 Oracle home directory

In the AutoConfig interface, this corresponds to:

Location Parameter
adovars LD_LIBRARY_PATH
tools_home (10.1.2) LD_LIBRARY_PATH

On the database server node:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in $ORACLE_HOME/[CONTEXT_NAME].env which corresponds in the AutoConfig

interface to:

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SearchDocDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=6rp87d5d6_52 25/32
2/21/23, 10:23 AM Document Display

Location Parameter
db_home LD_LIBRARY_PATH

After making these changes, run AutoConfig (adautocfg.sh) to implement the changes on the application and database tiers.

Note: See AutoConfig in Oracle E-Business Suite Maintenance Utilities for more information on AutoConfig.

KNOWN ISSUES

The following are known issues for this release:

Certain binutils versions cause sqlplus failure after relink/clone

Certain binutils versions (such as 2.26 and 2.27-27 in RHEL/OL 7) introduced a regression that causes the following failure
with a relinked sqlplus (after a clone operation, for example):

[oracle@apps lib]$ sqlplus <APPS LOGIN>/<APPS PASSWORD>

sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

This was fixed starting in version 2.27-28 in RHEL/OL 7 - customers should upgrade to at least this version of binutils if the
above failure is encountered.

Latest UEK and Red Hat kernel upgrades can cause Oracle Reports to fail

Upgrading to the latest UEK R4 (4.1.12-94.3.8.el6uek or later) and Red Hat kernel (2.6.32-696.3.2.el6 or later) can cause
Oracle Reports to fail with a "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error. Users should also upgrade the JDK in the 10.1.2
(Forms/Reports) Oracle Home to the latest JDK 7 (Update 151 or later) in order to avoid this failure by following the
appropriate instructions in:

My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1530033.1, Using the Latest JDK 7.0 Update with Oracle E-Business Suite
Release 12.2

Rapid Install may fail during application of FMW patch (startCD 50 or higher only)

12.2 Rapid Install can fail during the application of FMW Patch 7695070 with the following error:

<s_base>/fs2/FMW_Home/webtier/jdk/bin/java is not a valid executable for this platform. OPatch cannot proceed!

This issue is due to the XAUTHORITY env variable pointing to something other than the .Xauthority file (which must be present
in the home directory) for the applmgr user. In addition, entries in the .Xauthority file must have correct values for variables
such as DISPLAY (corresponding to the value used when invoking Rapid Install).

Advanced Supply Chain Planning product (MSO) may crash when increasing number of threads for optimization

The 64-bit Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning executable MSONWL64.exe may crash when increasing the number of
threads for optimization on a system with insufficient memory (bug 7259631). The following error is observed when this
occurs:

Patching Application Server Oracle Homes using OPatch (Oracle Linux 6 and RHEL 6 only)

After an installation or clone of Release 12, you will need to set the OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID to '226' prior to applying patches
to the 10.1.2 Application Server Oracle Home. For example, in the "ksh" shell:

$ OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID=226; export OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID

This step is needed to avoid an OPatch Config Assistant failure.

Errors in log files when starting Admin Server during multi-node shared file installation

Customers who have installed the modules package (environment-modules) may see errors during multi-node shared file
installations in log files such as:

Starting WLS Admin Server...

sh: module: line 1: syntax error: unexpected end of file
sh: error importing function definition for 'module'

Customers can avoid this by either unsetting the 'module' environment variable in the shell where they're installing 12.2, or by
uninstalling the environment-modules rpm if they're not using the features of the modules package.

Errors on XFS file system for large disks mounted with 64-bit inode (inode64) option

The use of the XFS file system, the default local filesystem on Oracle Linux/RHEL 7, for larger disks (greater than around 1TB)
with the inode64 mount option may result in errors when using EBS such as:

Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from..

Please wait ...Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

This is due to the use of 32-bit executables in EBS which can result in the accessing of inode numbers on the file system that
are greater than the 2^32 limit of the 32-bit userspace. It is recommended to use the 32-bit inode option (the default for XFS)
or other local filesystems such as ext4 if this problem is encountered.

Warning and error messages during relink with adadmin (Oracle Linux 8 and RHEL 8 only)

During relinking with adadmin, you may see the following messages regarding particular environment variables that can result
in failure:

Unset the environment variables prior to running adadmin's relink operation to avoid these messages:

$ unset -f module
$ unset -f switchml
$ unset -f _moduleraw
$ unset -f ml

You may see other environment variables which cause similar issues - if so, you should unset those variables prior to relinking
using the command:

$ unset -f <variable name>

Kernel name length can cause clone to fail

In a Linux environment with a kernel name longer than 34 characters, the following failures can occur during a clone of an
existing EBS 12.2 environment or the use of ADOP in the fs_clone phase:

*** Error in `<s_base>/fs1/EBSapps/10.1.2/oui/bin/runInstaller': free(): invalid next size (normal): 0x089b3948 ***

<s_base>/fs1/EBSapps/10.1.2/oui/bin/runInstaller[0x804bb13]

This is due to a bug with the 10.1.0.6 OU installer in the 10.1.2 Oracle Home - the solution is to upgrade the component using
the following instructions:

1. Source the Run file system using the command:

$ . ./EBSapps.env run

2. Backup <10.1.2 home>/oui/bin/runInstaller using the command:

$ cp $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstaller $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin/runInstaller_b4_6640752

3. Download the 10.2.0.4 version of the Patch 6640752 for Linux x86 named p6640752_10204_Linux-x86.zip.

4. Extract runInstaller from the patch:

$ unzip p6640752_10204_Linux-x86.zip cd/Disk1/install/runInstaller

5. Copy runInstaller from the patch to 10.1.2 home:

$ cp cd/Disk1/install/runInstaller $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin

6. Copy prereq.jar to OraPrereq.jar

$ cp $ORACLE_HOME/oui/jlib/prereq.jar $ORACLE_HOME/oui/jlib/OraPrereq.jar

AWR snapshots not generated due to issue with modprobe locking and ksplice

AWR snapshots may hang due to an issue with modprobe locking in a Linux environment with ksplice enabled. If you are using
ksplice, you should ensure that the uptrack-offline rpm has been upgraded to the latest available using the command:

$ yum upgrade uptrack-offline

For more information on this issue, see My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 2716549.1.

OPMN, fs_clone crash with early versions of binutils 2.37 (SLES 12 SP5 and SLES 15 only)

Utilities such as opmn and fs_clone do not start on on these SLES versions due to a database client component
(libclntsh.so.11.1) crashing with early versions of the binutls-2.37 package. You should upgrade this package to binutils-2.37-
9.47.1 (or higher) on SLES 12 SP5 (available at https://scc.suse.com/patches) and binutils-2.37-150100.7.34.1 on SLES 15 SP3
or higher (available at https://scc.suse.com/packages).

Advanced Supply Chain Planning enablement to use 64-bit executables (Oracle Linux 8 and RHEL 8 only)

The use of 32-bit versions of Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) products may cause the error message "MSCNSP
Program was terminated by signal 11". You should use and enable 64-bit versions of ASCP on Linux x86-64 by setting the
following profile options in your Oracle E-Business Suite environment:

MSC: "Enable 64 bit snapshot" to "Enable"

MSC: "64-bit Planner Platform" to "Linux 64-bit"
