Difference between verb s in the gerund and
infinitive

Infinitive - expresses the action

itself: waking up, being grateful,
waiting, smiling, uniting.
Gerund - expresses the process
of action: waking up, thanking,
waiting, smiling, uniting.
INFINITIVE
Verbs in the infinitive end in -ar, -er, -ir.
The infinitive is not related to any verb
mood or tense. It is one of the nominal
forms of the verb, and can perform the
function of a verb or the function of a
noun.
When verbs end in -ndo, as in talking, playing,
studying and running, they are inflected in the

GERUND gerund, whose main characteristic is to indicate

a continuous action, that is, an action that is in
progress, not completed at the moment in
which is spoken.

Irregular verbs in
the past
Identifying whether a verb is irregular or not is easier. We just
need to look at it and see if it doesn't have the regular past tense
structure (with the “ed” or “d” at the end). When in a text/article
you find a sentence in which the verb does not have this
structure, then we can say that it is irregular.
