Conditionals

Zero Conditional
- Se utiliza para hablar de cosas que siempre son ciertas. Es una condición real que tiene
un resultado inevitable, como es el caso de las verdades universales o hechos científicos.
- Estructura: If + subject + present simple … , subject + present simple …
- Ejemplos:
If you heat ice, it melts
You get wet if it rains

First Conditional
- Lo usamos para hablar de cosas o hechos que pueden pasar, o que es muy probable
que ocurran en el futuro.
- Estructura: If + subject + present simple … , subject + will/won’t + infinitive …
- Ejemplos:
If it rains, we will get wet.
I won’t take the dog out later if you do it now.

Second Conditional
- Utilizamos este condicional para situaciones imaginarias o hipotéticas, o también para dar
un consejo.
- Estructura: If + subject + past simple … , subject + would/wouldn’t + infinitive …
- Ejemplos:
If I were you, I would go to the party.
They would buy a bigger house if they had the money.

Third Conditional
- Este se usa para hablar de un pasado imaginario, es decir, para especular cómo
podrían haber sido las cosas.
- Estructura: If + subject + past perfect … , subject + would/wouldn’t + have + past
participle (3ª columna) …
- Ejemplos:
If I had studied more, I would have passed the exam.
You would have never met Jamie if you hadn’t gone to the same school.
Complete with the correct tense of the First Conditional:

1. If I (go) out tonight, I (go) to the cinema.

2. If you (get) back late, I (be) angry.

3. If we (not / see) each other tomorrow, we

(see) each other next week.

4. If he (come), I (be) surprised.

5. If we (wait) here, we (be) late.

6. If we (go) on holiday this summer, we (go)

Make sentences using the Zero Conditional:
