This Rectangular Shells pattern is based on the Beautiful Shells Blanket

I made this Rectangular version for Kathleen..

Abbreviations:
Sl.St : Slipstitch
Sc : Single crochet
Dc : Double crochet
V-Stitch : 1 Dc, Chain 1,1 Dc.
Corner : 1 V-stitch,Chain 3,1 V-stitch in Sc
Shell Corner : 5 Dc in chain 1 space,1 Sc in chain 3 space,
5 Dc in chain 1 space.

Change colors in the beginning of a new row.


It’s Fun...Lets begin..!

Starting row:
Chain 20, turn,chain 1
Row 2:
1 Sc in every stitch of the starting row.(20 stitches)

Row 3:
1 Sl.St in middle of the chainrow, this will be the first Shell.
Chain 3, 4 Dc in the same stitch.
Sl.st in first Sc, Chain 3, 4 DC in same stitch,(second Shell)

skip 2 Sc,1 Sc in 3rd Sc.
skip 2 Sc,make a Shell in 3rd Sc (5 Dc),
skip 2 Sc,1 Sc in 3rd Sc.
skip 2 Sc,make a Shell in 3rd Sc (5 Dc),
skip 2 Sc,1 Sc in 3rd Sc.
skip 2,make a Shell in last Sc,close with a Sl.St.

1 Sl.St. in the middle space between the Sc rows,


Chain 3, 4 Dc (Shell), 1 Sl.St. in this same stitch.
1 Sl.St in the next Sc,Chain 3, 4 Dc (Shell),1 Sl.St. in this same stitch.
skip 1 Sc,1 Sc in next Sc.
skip 2 Sc,make a Shell in 3rd Sc (5 Dc) in the same stitch
as on the opposite side.
Repeat the instructions from the other side..
End with a Shell in the last Sc in this row,close with a Sl.St
Fasten off...

Row 4: (V-stitches and Chains)


Cast on in the first Sc before your last Shell that you made
1 Sl.St,Chain 4, 1 DC ,counts as 1 V-stitch.
Chain 5,..This is going to be the first corner, 1 V-stitch,Chain 3,1 V-stitch
in the Sl.St. in between the Shells.
Chain 5, 1 V-stitch,Chain 3, 1 V-stitch in the Sl.St in between the Shells,
this is going to be the 2nd corner.
Chain 5, V-stitch in Sc,Chain 5,V-stitch in Sc,Chain 5,
The next one is going to be the 3rd corner.. 1 V-stitch,Chain 3,1 V-stitch
in the Sl.St. in between the Shells,

Chain 5,..the next one is the 4th and last corner.. 1 V-stitch,Chain 3,1 V-stitch
in the Sl.St. in between the Shells.
Repeat the instructions from the opposite side..
Close this row with 1 Sl.St. in the first V-stitch in this row.

Row 5: (Shells)
Cast on in the V-stitch where you ended your last row.
Sl.St., Chain 3, 4 Dc (Shell) all in the same V-stitch.
1 Sc in the 3rd Dc from 2 rows below.
Corner Shell..5 Dc in first Chain 1 space,1 Sc in chain 3 space,
5 Dc in next Chain 1 space.
1 Sc in the 3rd Dc from 2 rows below.
Corner Shell..5 Dc in next V-stitch,1 Sc in chain 3 space,5 Dc in chain 3 space.
1 Sc in the 3rd Dc from 2 rows below.
Make a Shell( 5 Dc) in every V-stitch.

Repeat this instructions until you are at the end of the row.
Close with a Sl.St in 3rd chainstitch of the
first Shell.

This is a repeating pattern: *1 row V-stitches and Chains (Row 4)


*1 row Shells and Sc (Row 5)
You can make it as big as you want,and use the yarn of your own choice.
