Installing Custom Firmware
This modification requires a custom firmware for switching Blu-Ray and DVD regions.

Install the custom firmware as follows:

● Make sure the version of the custom firmware is equal to or higher than the firmware
version currently installed in your player! If not, obtain the latest custom firmware!
● Turn off the “Quick Start” mode in the System Settings and “Remote Start” mode in the
Network Settings (if applicable).
● Extract the archive containing the firmware files to a FAT32-formatted USB stick. Do not
change the names or location of the extracted files or folders.
● Plug the unit into the mains. Wait for the LED on the front of the unit to go out.
● Attach the USB stick to the front USB slot.
● On the original remote, press the following button sequence pausing for about one second
between button presses: [OPTIONS]-[POP UP/MENU]-[GREEN]-[YELLOW]-[YELLOW].
● The unit will power on and the green LED on the front will light up and then start flashing
slowly. On X1000ES and X1100ES the front display will show “STR”.
● The firmware will be read from the USB stick. This process may take up to 5 minutes.
During this time, nothing will be shown on the TV screen. DO NOT unplug the power cord
or remove the USB stick while the LED is flashing slowly or the display shows “STR”!
● If the unit is unable to read the firmware from the USB stick, the update will fail and the
LED on the front of the unit will start flashing rapidly (X1000ES and X1100ES will show
“NG” on the front display). In this case, check the USB stick and the files, unplug the power
cord and start over from the beginning.
● When the LED stops flashing slowly and remains permanently on (X1000ES and X1100ES
will show “END” on the front display), the first part of the firmware update is complete.
Unplug the power cord but do not remove the USB stick yet!
● Plug the unit into the mains once again and turn it on.
● In the unit's menu, Select “Setup->Software Update->Update via USB Memory”.
● The firmware update message is displayed on the television.
● Use the remote control to select "OK", and then press the ENTER button.
● The unit will start the update and reboot twice in the process. When the home screen is
displayed on the TV the update is complete.

Installing Future Firmware Updates

Once available, firmware updates can be installed as usual using the player's built-in firmware
upgrade facility. Make sure the player is connected to the Internet, then in the unit's menu, select
“Setup->Software Update->Update via Internet” and start the update process.
