WORK PLAN FOR BOREHOLE DRILLING
PROJECT AT JOHN PAUL SECONDARY SCHOOL

Introduction
The following work plan outlines the systematic approach for executing
the borehole drilling project at John Paul Secondary School. The project,
aims to provide sustainable access to clean water for the Buwaya
community.
The timeline spans from today, May 15, 2024, to June 7, 2024,
encompassing various phases to ensure efficient project completion.

Project Scope and Objectives

Scope:
The project entails the drilling of a borehole on the school premises,
installation of necessary equipment, and testing to ensure water quality
and quantity.
Objectives
Provide access to clean and reliable water for the Buwaya Community.

Enhance sanitation and hygiene practices among community members.

Ensure the sustainability of water supply for the school's needs.

Project Phases

Phase 1: Preparatory Phase (May 21 – May26)

Conduct site assessment and geological survey to determine optimal
drilling location. Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant
authorities like NEMA, NWSC. Mobilize equipment and personnel to the
site
Phase 2: Drilling Phase (May 27 - May 30)
Commence borehole drilling operations using specialized drilling
equipment. Monitor drilling progress and adjust techniques as required
based on geological conditions. Ensure adherence to safety protocols
throughout the drilling process

Phase 3: Installation Phase (May 1 – June 2)

Install casing and screen to secure the borehole and prevent collapse. Set
up pumping equipment and electrical connections for water extraction.
Conduct testing to assess water quality and flow rate.

Phase 4: Commissioning and Handover (June 3 - June 7)

Conduct final inspection and commissioning of the borehole system.
Train school staff on operation and maintenance procedures. Officially
hand over the completed project to the school administration.

Resource Allocation: Personnel: A team of drilling experts, geologists,

engineers, and technicians. Equipment: Drilling rigs, casing, pumps,
testing instruments, and safety gear. Materials: Pipes, fittings, cement,
gravel, and electrical components.
Budget: Allocate funds for equipment rental, personnel wages, materials
procurement, and contingencies.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks such as equipment failure,

adverse weather conditions, or geological challenges. Develop mitigation
strategies including regular equipment maintenance, contingency plans,
and safety protocols. Maintain open communication channels with
stakeholders to address any emerging issues promptly.

Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring mechanisms to track

project progress against milestones and timelines. Conduct regular site
visits and inspections to ensure quality standards are met. Solicit feedback
from school stakeholders to gauge satisfaction and address any concerns.
Sustainability Plan: Implement a maintenance schedule for the borehole
and associated equipment. Educate the school community on water
conservation practices and proper usage of the borehole. Establish a
committee responsible for overseeing long-term operation and
maintenance efforts.

Conclusion: The successful execution of the borehole drilling project at

John Paul Secondary School will not only provide immediate access to
clean water but also contribute to the overall well-being and development
of the school community. By adhering to the outlined work plan and
leveraging proper resources and expertise, the project aims to achieve its
objectives within the stipulated timeline and budget, leaving a lasting
impact for years to come.
