The Introductory Rites

~ Opening Hymn ~

How Great Thou Art

1. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

REFRAIN
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

2. When through the woods, and forest glades I wander

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze

REFRAIN

3. And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing

Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

REFRAIN

4. When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

REFRAIN

(Please rise)
Priest: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit.

All: Amen.

~ Greeting ~

Priest: May the Father of mercies, the God of all

consolation, be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

~ Collect ~

Priest: Almighty God and Father, it is our certain faith that

your Son, who died on the Cross, was raised from the
dead, the first-fruits of all who have fallen asleep.
Grant that through this mystery your servant,
[NAME], who has gone to his[her] rest in Christ,
may share in the joy of his resurrection.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your

Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

All: Amen.

(Please be seated)
The Liturgy of the Word

~ First Reading ~
“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God,
through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep”

Reader: A reading from the first letter of St. Paul to the

Thessalonians (4:13-14, 17-18)

We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about

those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not
grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will

God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have
fallen asleep.

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught

up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord
in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord.

Therefore, console one another with these words.

The word of the Lord.

All: Thanks be to God.

~ Responsorial Psalm ~
Hymn: Thy Word

Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet

And A Light Unto My Path [2x]

When I Feel Afraid

And I Think I’ve Lost My Way
Still You’re There Right Beside Me
Nothing Will I Fear
As Long As You Are Near
Please Be Near Me To The End

Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet

And A Light Unto My Path [2x]

I Will Not Forget

Your Love For Me And Yet
My Heart Forever Is Wandering
Jesus Be My Guide
And Hold Me To Your Side
I Will Love You To The End

Thy Word Is A Lamp Unto My Feet

And A Light Unto My Path [2x]

When I Feel Afraid

And I Think I’ve Lost My Way
Still You’re There Right Beside Me
Nothing Will I Fear
As Long As You Are Near
Please Be Near Me To The End

~ Gospel Acclamation ~

All: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

~ Gospel ~

“I will make it known, that the love with which you loved me
may be in them and I in them”

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: A reading from the holy Gospel according to

John (17:24-26)

All: Glory to You, O Lord.

Priest: Father, they are your gift to me. I wish that where I
am they also may be with me, that they may see my
glory that you gave me, because you loved me before
the foundation of the world.

Righteous Father, the world also does not know you,

but I know you, and they know that you sent me.
I made known to them your name and I will make it
known, that the love with which you loved me may
be in them and I in them.

The Gospel of the Lord.

All: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

~ Homily ~

company of the saints. We pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Saviour. That he[she] may be welcomed into the
halls of the heavenly banquet. We pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Reader: For the family and friends of [NAME], that they may
be consoled in their grief by the Lord who wept at
the death of his friend Lazarus. We pray to the Lord.

we may be gathered together again in God’s
kingdom. We pray to the Lord.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

again, that they may see God face to face. We pray to
the Lord.

All: Lord, hear our prayer.

Priest: God, our shelter and our strength, you listen in love
to the cry of your people: hear the prayers we offer
for our departed brothers and sisters. Cleanse them of
their sins and grant them the fullness of redemption.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist

~ Offertory Song ~

Still

1. Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand

REFRAIN
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God

2. Find rest my soul

In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust

REFRAIN [2x]

~ Preparation of the Altar and the Gifts ~

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation, for
through your goodness we have received the bread
we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human
hands, it will become for us the bread of life.

All: Blessed be God forever.

Priest: Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for

through your goodness we have received the wine we
offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands,
it will become our spiritual drink.

All: Blessed be God forever.

~ Invitation to Prayer ~

Priest: Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be

acceptable to God, the almighty Father.

(Rise and reply)

All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands,

for the praise and glory of his name, for our good
and the good of all his holy Church.

~ Prayer Over the Offerings ~

Priest: As we humbly present to you these sacrificial

offerings, O Lord, for the salvation of [NAME], we
beseech your mercy, that he, who did not doubt your
Son to be a loving Saviour, may find in him a
merciful Judge. Who lives and reigns for ever and
ever.

All: Amen.
~ Preface Dialogue ~

Priest: The Lord be with you.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them up to the Lord.

Priest: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right and just.

Priest: It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks, Father
most holy, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ,
your Word through whom you made all things,
whom you sent as our Saviour and Redeemer,
incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin.
Fulfilling your will and gaining for you a holy
people, he stretched out his hands as he endured his
Passion, so as to break the bonds of death and
manifest the resurrection. And so, with Angels and
all the Saints we declare your glory, as with one
voice we acclaim:

~ Holy, Holy, Holy ~

All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.

~ Consecration ~
(Please kneel)
Priest: You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all
holiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by

sending down Your Spirit upon them like the
dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body
and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ

At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly

into His Passion, He took the bread and, giving
thanks, broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying:

“Take this, all of you, and eat of it,

For this is my Body, which will be given up for
you.”

In a similar way, when supper was ended, He took

the chalice and, once more giving thanks, He gave it
to His disciples, saying:

“Take this, all of you, and drink from it.

For this is the chalice of my Blood,
The Blood of the new and eternal covenant,
Which will be poured out for you and for many
For the forgiveness of sins.”

Do this in memory of me.

Let us proclaim the Mystery of Faith.

~ Memorial Acclamation ~

All: We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your

Resurrection until you come again.
~ Memorial Prayer ~
Priest: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death
and Resurrection, we offer you Lord, the Bread of
Life and the Chalice of Salvation, giving thanks that
you held us worthy to be in your presence and
minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of
the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered
into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, Your Church, spread throughout

the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with [Francis], our Pope, [Ignatius], our
[Cardinal] Bishop and all the clergy.

Remember your servant, [NAME], whom you

have called from this world to yourself. Grant that he
who was united with your Son in a death like his,
may also be one with him in his Resurrection

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have

fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all
who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the
light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray,
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with Saint Joseph, her spouse, with the Blessed
Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you
throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to
eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through
your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through Him, and with Him and in Him, O God

almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all
glory and honour is yours, forever and ever.

All: Amen, amen, amen. Amen, amen, amen, amen.

~ The Communion Rite ~

(Please rise)
Priest: At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine
teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive our those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Priest: Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,

graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help
of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and
safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Doxology

All: For the kingdom, the power and the glory are
yours now and for ever.
Amen.

~ Sign of Peace ~
Priest: Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles,
“Peace I leave you, my peace I give you.”
Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church
and graciously grant her peace and unity in
accordance with your will. Who live for ever and
ever.

All: Amen.

Priest: The peace of the Lord be with you always.

All: And with your spirit.

Priest: Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

All: Peace be with you.

~ The Fraction (Breaking) of the Bread ~

Lamb of God

All: Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the

world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the

world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the

world, grant us peace.

(Please kneel)

Priest: Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him who takes

away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called
to the supper of the Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that You should enter
under my roof, but only say the word and my soul
shall be healed.

~ Communion Processional Hymn ~

Through It All

You are forever in my life

You see me through the seasons
Cover me with Your hand
And lead me in Your righteousness

And I look to You

And I wait on You

I will sing to You, Lord

A hymn of love
For Your faithfulness to me
I'm carried in everlasting arms
You'll never let me go
Through it all

Hallelujah, hallelujah

~ Communion Antiphon ~

All: Let perpetual light shine upon them, with your

Saints for ever, for you are merciful. Eternal rest
grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light
shine upon them, with your Saints for ever, for
you are merciful.

~ Post-Communion Hymn ~

Amazing Grace
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught

My heart to fear
And grace my Fears relieved
How precious did
That grace appear
The hour I first believed

Through many dangers

Toils and snares
We have already come
'Twas grace hath brought
Us safe thus far
And grace will lead us home

When we've been there

Ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We'll have no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we first begun

Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost
But now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
~ Prayer after Communion ~
(Please all rise)

Priest: Let us pray.

Lord God, whose Son left us, in the Sacrament of his
Body, food for the journey, mercifully grant that,
strengthened by it, our brother[sister], [NAME], may
come to the eternal table of Christ. Who lives and
reigns for ever and ever.

All: Amen.

~ Invitation to Prayer ~
(Please stand)

Priest: Before we go our separate ways, let us take our leave

of our brother[sister], [NAME].

May our farewell express our affection for him[her];

may it ease our sadness and strengthen our hope.
One day we shall joyfully greet him again when the
love of Christ, which conquers all things, destroys
even death itself.

~ Prayer of Commendation ~

Priest: Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our

brother[sister], [NAME], in the sure and certain hope
that, together with all who have died in Christ,
he[she] will rise with him on the last day.

We give you thanks for the blessings which you have

bestowed upon [NAME] in this life: they are signs to
us of your goodness and infinite love for all of us.
Merciful Lord, turn toward us and listen to our
prayers: open the gates of paradise to your servant
and help us who remain to comfort one another with
assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and
are with you and with our brother[sister], [NAME],
for ever.

All: Amen.

The Concluding Rites

The Power of Your Love

Lord I come to You

Let my heart be changed, renewed
Flowing from the grace
That I've found in You
Lord I've come to know
The weaknesses I see in me
Will be stripped away
By the power of Your love

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I'll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

Lord unveil my eyes

Let me see You face to face
The knowledge of Your love
As You live in me
Lord renew my mind
As Your will unfolds in my life
In living every day
By the power of Your love
Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I'll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

Hold me close
Let Your love surround me
Bring me near
Draw me to Your side
And as I wait
I'll rise up like the eagle
And I will soar with You
Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

And I will soar with You

Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love

And I will soar with You

Your Spirit leads me on
In the power of Your love
