SAT-AAA-MV-SWG (REV. 0-2015) Page 7 of 12

SITE ACCEPTANCE TESTS AFTER INSTALLATION
MV SWITCHGEAR

1. Checking of the 33 kV Switchgear interior to verify clearances between live electrical

parts, insulation of phase and neutral buses from housing, and tightness of all
mechanical connections

2. Checking of levelling and alignment of installed equipment;

3. Checking of tightness of connections and fastenings, and use of proper tools,

4. Checking the correct phasing of equipment connections;

5. Checking proper grounding;

6. Checking of continuity and agreement with wiring drawings of all current carrying
connections, including bus connections and wiring, as installed by Contractor;

7. Checking of physical integrity of major equipment and all instruments and

components;

8. Checking of proper equipment and cable identification;

9. Checking of correct circuit fusing;

10. Checking against the equipment specification for compliance of ratings of all major
components, i.e. bus, circuit breaker, fuses, relays, etc. Any non-compliance shall
be reported to THE CONTRACTING OFFICER;

11. Checking of primary and secondary circuit electrical connections for tightness.

- Insulation (MEGGER) test

- Burden measurement
- Insulation power factor (10 kV)

2. Voltage Transformer

- VT polarity test
- VT ratio test

3. Measuremant of Insulation Resistance

Measurement of insulation resistance. The test shall be performed on the primary

circuits only. The secondary circuits of current transformers, in the path of the
intended tests, shall be short-circuited and earthed. Test voltage shall be A 2.5 kV
(2.5 kV MEGGER should be used). During measurement of the insulation
resistance, temperature and humidity readings shall be taken and recorded. Any
cleaning of the insulators shall always be followed by resistance measurements.

4. Measurements and tests of circuit breakers shall include as a minimum:

- Insulation resistance measurement;

- Measurement of contact timing and travel analysis in accordance with
manufacturer's instructions;
- Testing of mechanical operating;
- Testing of operating, such as, installation and removal from breaker cell, test
position operation, tripping via relays & controls, correct interlocks operation,
alarms, meters, etc.

5. Testing of all settings, switches, timers, dials, link connections and adjustments.

6. Testing the 33 kV switchgear inputs/digital outputs and control, protection and

interlocking functions at/from the 33 kV switchgear control board, from the station
level via the SCMS System (substation control room) and from the Area Control
Centre level..

7. Testing the 33 kV switchgear alarm inputs/digital outputs and alarm indications at

the 33 kV switchgear control board, at the station level sequence event recorder
(substation control room) and at the Area Control Centre level.
