NARRATIVE ESSAY: NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

Because of the various activities our family did, my New Year's celebration
was quite fascinating and enjoyable. On December 31, waking up before 7 am in
order to accompany your mother to the market to get some goods for
Medya Noche is a must in an Asian household. For Filipinos, putting food on the
table before a new chapter begins is a crucial thing. Welcoming the year 2023 is
what all people are excited about and they say that celebrating the new year in
your own house can bring luck, that’s why some traditional family doesn’t miss
a celebration at home. All of us wore the color viva magenta since it was the
color of the year, and at midnight we all made noise and fired firecrackers, and
wished each other a happy new year.
All the games my family played that night entertained all of us and made our
celebration fun. After playing games and having a good time with my family, I
went to my friend's house at roughly 2 am so that we could catch up and talk
about our lives. My friends had arranged a party that’s why my new year is
extended with memories. Going home at 5 am and sleeping in my bed is what
comes to my mind first. My Family has this regular tradition of attending church
after the new year, therefore I woke up around 11 in the morning due to this.
Cousins made the decision to go to the mall after church, so everyone drove
there together. After barely five hours of sleep, all of us agreed we will need
coffee, so we went to Starbucks to order and sat down for a bit.
The whole day of hanging out at the mall is our goal, after all the fun all of us
are tired and hungry. Blakes’s restaurant is what everyone sees, while scanning
the menu everyone’s mouth watered with the pictures of the steaks and
chicken wings. The flavor of all of the food at Blake's is so eye-tempting and the
flavor of seasoning of the chicken and steaks is well-seasoned. For dessert is
iao-iao, a frozen yogurt shop is the choice of everyone because it is everyone’s
favorite froyo shop. We arrived at our house at about 8 o'clock and spent time
catching up with family and friends and bonding over karaoke.
The holiday season is a time for family to get together, and this year, my family
celebrated and welcomed the year 2023 with a full heart. Despite the difficult
circumstances over the past year (2022), Filipinos were able to get through it. All
of us deserve to have fun, and all of us should take part in the New Year's
festivities wholeheartedly. The members of my family had a good time,
celebrated each other's achievements, and exchanged gifts. That is why
Filipinos enjoy special occasions like Christmas and New Year's because
everyone is stress-free and simply trying to be grateful for everything.
DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY: FAVORITE TEACHER
My favorite teacher is Ms. Maricar D. Olarve she is my Grade 5 Adviser
teacher at Holy Angel School of Caloocan Inc., and she was also my teacher in
Araling Panlipunan (AP) back then. So, why does she is still my favorite teacher
now that I am a grade 12 student in a different school? In fifth grade, my grades
were so terrible that there was a possibility I’d attend summer classes. As a kid,
managing my grades to make them higher isn’t my top priority. Ms. Olarve
noticed all of my grades and offered to tutor me only for free and during recess.
It puzzled at me that time, wondering why she would tutor me for free.
After giving it some thought I’ve realized that she is being kind and
sympathetic to me, Ms. Olarve doesn't want me to fail every class just because
my parents aren't paying enough attention. She tutors me while asking me
questions as if she were investigating something, and as a kid simply answer.
She may inquire, "What do you do when you come home from school?"
and would casually reply, "I sleep or watch TV." The following day, Ms. Olarve
scheduled a meeting with my parents, and because only my mom was available,
she was the one who showed up. After that meeting with my mom, my parents
started to pay attention to me during my homework sessions. That meeting
with my parents resulted in me to be great and mindful at school.
Ms. Olarve helped me because she wanted to and because she noticed issues
that needed to be addressed. It's not just about myself; it's about the other
students too. Sometimes she is calm but when my other classmates are getting
too naughty, she will shout and be mad. My classmates will be quiet all of a
sudden, sometimes it’s scary but most of the time I’m not scared of Ms. Olarve
because knowing her she’s just scolding because we need to know that not all
the time is playtime, students need to listen and be attentive too. It’s normal for
a teacher to be mad or shout because it’s a way for the students to know their
boundaries and know who the authority is.
She deserves credit for inspiring my interest in history since, unlike other
Araling Panlipunan Teachers, she doesn't require students to copy from
textbooks or take massive volumes of notes during class. Just by listening to her,
students will be able to visualize a scene from her lecture while she discusses
the topic utilizing these props. She is my favorite teacher because of her passion
for her subject matter and her sincere concern when listening to her students.
She helped me recognize the value of education, and for that, I will always be
grateful to her for being a part of my growth. There are many advisers her
students will meet, but Ms. Olarve stands out because she has the ability to
spot weaknesses and support at best. A lot
