Installing the USB Driver

The USB driver for the G9SP-series Controller must be installed on the computer running the G9SP Configurator in
order to connect the G9SP-series Controller to the computer via USB. The USB driver is stored in the following directory
in the computer when the G9SP Configurator is installed.
\Drivers\USB in the installation folder
Windows XP
The procedure to install the driver on a Windows XP computer is given in this section.
1 Turn ON the power supply to the G9SP-series Controller and connect the USB port on the G9SP-series
Controller to a USB port on the computer using a USB cable.
The computer will automatically detect the G9SP-series Controller when the cable is connected and
display a message saying that new hardware has been detected. The Add Hardware Wizard will also be
displayed.
2 In the Found New Hardware Wizard
Dialog Box, select the No, not this time
option and click the Next Button.
3 Select the Install from a list or specific

location (Advanced) Option and click Next
Button.
4 Select the Search the best driver in these

locations Check Box and select only the
Include this location in the search Option.
Specify the directory where the USB
driver was saved (given previously) as
the location to seach and click the Next
Button.

5 If a warning message appears saying

that the driver has not passed the
Windows logo test, ignore it and click the
Continue Anyway Button.
6 The driver will be installed.

7 This dialog box will be displayed if the
installation is completed normally. Click
the Finish Button.
This completes installation of the USB driver for the G9SP Configurator.
Confirmation
Check that the driver has been installed correctly after the installation.
1 From the desktop click Start, right-click My Computer, and select Manage. The Computer Management
Window will be displayed..
2 Select the Device Manager on the navigation pane.
3 This dialog box will be displayed if the
installation is completed normally. Click
the Finish Button.
When Installation Fails

1 Open the Computer Management Window on the computer and select the Device Manager on the
navigation pane. If OMRON-PLC is displayed as a universal serial bus controller, installation of the USB
driver has failed..
2 Right-click on OMRON-PLC and select Delete to delete the driver. Reinsert the USB cable to display the
USB driver installation dialog box. Perform the re-installation procedure to install the driver.
Windows Vista
The procedure to install the driver on a Windows Vista computer is given.
The Add Hardware Wizard will also be displayed.
2 Select the Locate and install driver
software Option.
3 Click the Don’t search online Option in

the Found New Hardware Dialog Box.
4 Select the following: I don’t have the disc.

Show me other options.
5 Select the Browse my computer for

driver software (advanced) Option.
6 Click the Browse Button. Specify the

directory where the USB driver was
saved (given previously) as the location to

search and click the Next Button.
7 The Windows Security Dialog Box will be

displayed. Click the Install Button.

9 When the driver installation is completed
normally, the installation completed dialog
box will be displayed. Click the Close
Button.
Confirmation
1 From the desktop click Start, right-click Computer, and select Manage. The Computer Management
Window will be displayed.
2 Selected the Device Manager on the navigation pane.
3 If the OMRON G9SP Device is displayed
in the list of universal serial bus
controllers, then the USB driver has been
installed correctly.
1 Display the Device Manager on the computer. If OMRON-PLC is displayed in other devices, installation
of the USB driver has failed.
2 Right-click on OMRON-PLC and select Delete to delete the driver. Reinsert the USB cable to display the
USB driver installation dialog box. Perform the re-installation procedure to install the driver.
Installing on Windows 7/8/8.1/10
The procedure to install the driver on a Windows 7/8/8.1/10 computer is given in this section.
2 Click Computer - System Properties to start the Device Manager.
3 The Computer Management Window will

be displayed. Select the Device Manager
on the navigation pane. Right-click
OMRON-PLC under Other Devices, and
then select Update Driver Software.
4 The Update Driver Software Dialog Box

will be displayed. Select the Browse my
computer for driver software Option.
5 Click the Browse Button under Search

for driver software in this location.
Specify the directory where the USB
driver was saved (\Drivers\USB) as the
location to search and click the Next
Button.
6 The Windows Security Dialog Box will be

displayed. Click the Install Button.
8 The When the driver installation is

completed normally, the installation
completed dialog box will be displayed.
Click the Close Button.
Confirmation
1 Right-click Computer on the Start Menu, and then select Manage.
2 Selected the Device Manager on the navigation pane.
3 If the OMRON G9SP Device is displayed in
the list of universal serial bus controllers,
then the USB driver has been installed
correctly.
