On-line submission of application(s) for admission to M.Sc (Day & Evening) Courses 2020- 21
All applicants must have completed results of Bachelor's Degree course from any
University/Institute recognized by the UGC at the time of online application.
The minimum eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Sc.(Day) courses in various subjects are as
follows:

SC/ST CATEGORY
OBC-A/OBC-B CATEGORY
The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A or OBC- B categories must produce an OBC
certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than December 2019) issued by the competent
authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy
layer of the society, at the time of counselling/ admission.
OBC-A and OBC-B candidates from the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of
reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students may get the benefit of reserve quota
if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.
For Chess, applicant having the FIDE rating (standard) 1700 and above for Boys and FIDE rating (standard)
1300 and above for girls is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
For Tennis, applicant having the AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to 500 for
open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The rating/ranking for
chess & tennis is applicable on the day / week of publication of advertisement for admission under sports quota.
For Cricket & Football, applicant must have represented any 1st Division Club or above with participation of
40% matches either in the current year or any one of the two preceding years organized by either CAB / IFA or
any State Association OR having the criteria as specified above.
Such sports representations are to be made within current year or any one of the two preceding calendar years
(i,e commencing from 1st January) only.
Certificates of participation (Click here for format) in Sports/Games must be obtained from the competent
authorities. Applicant must send the certificates in prescribed format along with a print out of online application
and all Sports Certificate in a single pdf format at the mail id ([email protected]) or by post
to the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Science, U.G. Science Building, Ground Floor,
Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032, on or before January 5, 2021.
For PD category
Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD category under RPD
Act, 2016.
Maximum tenure of studentship for the admitted candidates will be as per the UGC
circular no- F.12-1/2015(CPP-II).
A student who has obtained the Master Degree in the subject from any University in Indian is
not eligible for admission to the Master Degree course of this University.
The employed candidate will need to take a printout of the duly completed application form and
Proforma-A (for school teachers only) or Proforma-B (for employed candidate other than school
teachers), as applicable, in support of their employment. Filled-in proforma along with application form
and photocopy of online payment receipt (duly authenticated by the bank) shall be submitted to the
office of the Dean & Secretary, Faculty of Science within January 6, 2021 otherwise the application
will be rejected.
Deserving candidates should clearly indicate in the appropriate place of the application form
whether he/ she desires to be considered in the reserved seats, as per University Rules, for
SC/ST/PD/OBC-A/OBC-B/Sports categories. Otherwise they may miss the opportunity.
The Admission Committee reserves the right of not selecting any candidate who is considered to
be physically unfit or otherwise unsuitable.
No separate letter for councelling and/or admission will be issued to any candidate.
Candidates who appear in the counselling on the scheduled date and time but cannot be
accommodated within the specified intake in each category will be placed in the waiting list.
Vacancies arising out of cancellation may be filled up from the waiting list in order of merit.
Ragging is totally banned in the Jadavpur University Campus including hostel
premises,and anyone found guilty of ragging and /or abetting ragging is liable to be punished
appropriately. If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned
student shall be given liberty to and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority
would expel him from the institution.
Moreover, provisionally selected students will be required to submit undertaking as
required under the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational
Institution, 2010 (Regulation No.F.1-16/2007 (CPP-II) dated April, 2009).The undertakings have
to be duly signed by the candidate himself/herself and his/her parent/Guardian.
Students from other Universities should have to submit his/her migration certificate within one
year from the date of admission, otherwise his/ her admission will be treated as cancelled.
Students are to pay their tuition fees at the beginning of the particular session.
Full-free and Half-free studentship to the extent of 15% and 10% respectively of the total
permitted intake may be granted to the deserving students fulfilling all the eligibility requirements to
that effect.
All courses of the University are non-residential. Hostel seats are limited.
Classes will commence after admission.
