Windows 10 64-bit for NCR ATMs (SelfServ) Installation

instructions ver. 1.0


[External USB Drive]

IMPORTANT: Following installation instructions guarantees ATM installation without errors.


Make more than one USB drive with the image in case they get damaged. Also take a backup of
the original USB disk Contents to a computer/external disk.

Windows 10 64-bit NCR ATM Hardware Requirements:


NCR OEM Windows 10 IOT Enterprise 64-bit can be installed on SelfServ ATMs with the following PC-Cores
models:

1. Estoril PC-Core: Latest BIOS version (05.05.01.0037). if ATM Pc core has lower version, it
must be upgraded to above one. The Software & Installation manual are available on the
USB flash drive @ following path:
C:\Install\SW_Configs\Pc-Core_Configs\PC-Cores_BIOS\Estoril BIOS\

2. Montecarlo PC-Core.

3. Misano (Skylake) PC-Core.

Overview:
The complete installation of Windows 10 64-bit on NCR ATMs is divided into two parts. Installation Media
consists of one external USB disk.

An overview of each part follows:

 Part 1: installation of USB disk media:


In this part, ATM image will be installed with following Software:
a. NCR OEM Windows 10 Version 1607 IOT Enterprise 64-bit v. 01.01.00
b. Latest Windows hotfixes, January 2020.
c. NCR APTRA XFS v. 01.03.00
d. APTRA XFS Deposit Fix v. 01.00.00, February 2020
e. APTRA XFS Dispenser Fix v. 01.00.00, February 2020
f. APTRA Advance NDC v. 5.01.00
g. Advance NDC patch v. 02.01.01
h. APTRA Self Service Assistant v. 2.15.00
i. EMV CAM II Exits v. 94.00.01.03
j. APTRA Security for Windows 10 v. 5.00.00
k. Unified Agent for Web Services v. 04.06.00

After completing this part, ATM will boot to desktop where part 2 of the installation will begin.

 Part 2: Post installation configuration and fine tuning:


In this part ATM technician will perform post installation configuration and fine-tuning
necessary. When post installation configuration and fine tuning is completed, the ATM
technician will execute final program to enable APTRA security features and start testing of
transactions with bank’s ATM environment.

Important information about additional software and configurations
included in USB Disk Media installation:

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Before installing Windows 10 Image on an ATM and if the ATM has Windows 7 and APTRA XFS
version Older than v. 06.07.00, then several XFS components from XFS version 06.07.00 must be
installed first under Windows 7.

After installing the components under Windows 7, you can migrate ATM OS to Windows 10.

Following devices will not operate correctly if firmware are not updated prior to installing
Windows 10:

 AnitSkimmingModule (SPS)
 USB Mini Miscellaneous Interface card
 USB Miscellaneous Interface card
 USB Integrated Motorized Card Reader IMCRW
 USB Currency Dispenser

To install the Software, perform following:


1. Plug the bootable USB Drive that is prepared for Windows 10 installation.
2. On the USB Drive, open folder C:\Install\Windows7-Windows10_Migration_SW\Aggregate
3. Execute Setup.exe and perform the installation.
Always select to remove Pre-Releases components from Advanced Option in the aggregate
installer.

NOTE 1: Following hardware devises components are NOT installed. The device must be installed
physically on the ATM then component must be installed.

on ATM hard disk browse “C:\Install\APTRA_SW\Optional Software\Hardware_Dependent


Components\” and install the software components for following hardware device that exist(s)
on the ATM:
1. USBCardDispenser
2. USBCheckPresenterPrinter
3. USBDocumentProcessingModule
4. USBSmartFingerPrintReader

NOTE 2:
If you have BNA/GBNA/GBRU/BRM or other cash deposit modules present on the ATM, you must install
currency template for that specific device.

NOTE 3:
To report software issues to NCR Software support team, please refer to
Appendix 1 Reporting of Software issues to the Support

To prepare additional USB Media disk(s), please refer to
Appendix 2 Creating Win10 bootable USB Flash drive

NOTE 4:
If customer’s IT department enforces regular deployment of Windows updates installation on the
ATMs, they can ONLY install the Updates Recommended and Certified by NCR Security team. Also, on this
Windows 10 version, customer can ONLY apply windows updates certified for Windows 10 version 1607
64-bit. The customers can receive monthly releases security bulletin from NCR Security team with the
monthly certified Windows 10 Updates. They must provide one/more Email addresses to NCR so they
can be added to the Security team Email list.

Detailed installation Parts 1 & 2:

Part 1: Installation of USB Disk Media


1. Make sure that SelfServ ATM(s) hardware requirements are met and devices are operational from
System Application with no problems.
2. Make sure that ATM PC-Core has latest BIOS version. For more information, please refer to part
‘Windows 10 64-bit NCR ATM Hardware Requirements’.
3. Plug in a USB Keyboard & Mouse.
4. Plugin the bootable USB drive named ‘WIN10_IMAGE’
5. Switch on the ATM power.
6. When ATM starts, Press F2 to boot to Admin Menu.
7. Enter Admin menu password: ncrTEMP123
8. Select Boot tab.
9. First option is Boot Type, select UEFI Boot Type.
NOTE: To boot to windows 10, UEFI Boot Type. must be selected. Otherwise Windows 10 will not
load.
10. Save settings by pressing (F10). ATM will reboot again.
11. When ATM starts, Press F8 to boot to boot menu.
12. Enter boot menu password ncrTEMP456
13. USB drive model name will be listed as bootable device.
14. Select the USB drive to boot from it.
15. WinPe (windows Pre-installation environment) will load.
16. Following menu will be displayed.

NOTE: Detailed information about Estoril PC Core BIOS specifications and configurations are provided in
the word document ‘NCR BIOS - Estoril (05.05.01.0034).docx’ on the ATM disk @ C:\Install\SW_Configs\
Pc-Core_Configs\PC-Cores_BIOS\Estoril BIOS\05.05.01.0034\
And html document Estoril.05.05.01.0037 Release Notes.mht on the ATM disk @ C:\Install\SW_Configs\
Pc-Core_Configs\PC-Cores_BIOS\Estoril BIOS\05.05.01.0037\
If Estoril PC Core BIOS version is older than 05.05.01.0034 and to upgrade to version 05.05.01.0037, you
must upgrade to v. 05.05.01.0034 then v. 05.05.01.0037

17. If you want to install Windows 10 image, select option [1].

18. If you want to quit and reboot without installing Window 10, select option [2].
19. If Option [1] is selected, a chain of processes will take place.
20. A series of windows will be displayed with following heading:

21. Hard disk will be formatted, Image copied on the hard disk and applied.

22. When the image is applied successfully, following Window will be displayed informing the user
with the successful Win10 Image Application and that ATM will reboot in 10 seconds.
 After Image is applied successfully, last Window Message displayed. Press any key to reboot and
apply the image.

23. ATM will reboot, Windows 10 Image installed. Total of two reboots will take place.
24. When Windows 10 will load to Desktop for the first time, following window will popup informing
you that Windows 10 image installation has completed.
25. Following message will be displayed informing you updates are applied:
PLEASE WAIT! APPLYING APTRA UPDATES
26. When installation is completed, following message will be displayed.
APTRA ActiveXFS UPDATE APPLIED SUCCESSFULLY
WINDOWS 10 IMAGE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETED!
PROCEED TO THE INSTALLATION OF APTRA SECURITY

Press any key to continue ...

27. To install APTRA Security, open folder C:\Install\Security\ and execute INSTALL_SECURITY.BAT
28. Following Popup will be displayed prompting you to press OK to being APTRA Security installation.
29. If you don’t press OK button, the installation will begin after five minutes.

30. ATPRA Security installation will begin. During APTRA security installation, ATM will reboot total of
two times.
31. When APTRA Security installation and configurations is completed, following window will pop up
informing the user that installation of Windows 10 Phase 1 is completed.

32. Now move to part 2 of the installation; Windows 10 Post installation configuration and fine-
tuning.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This installation of APTRA Security will apply the default Security and Group policy settings. If you want
to ease some of the security and Group policy settings, there is additional package that performs
following changes. Please consult with your customers if following changes meets their requirements
and are permitted on the ATM.

1. Access ATM C$\ remotely using local administrator username + password
2. Enable access to keyboard + mouse when SSTAuot1 user is logged on.
3. Enable Alt+Ctrl+Del with Logoff option when SSTAuot1 user is logged on.

To apply above configurations, open folder C:\Install\Security\Other_Security_Settings\ and execute


batch file APPLY_SECURITY_POLICIES.BAT.
New security and group policy will be applied, ATM will reboot two times. When completed, following
message will be displayed to continue:

Part 2: Windows 10 Post installation configuration and fine-tuning:

Perform following tasks according to bank’s requirements:

1. Set local date/time of the ATM.


2. Configure windows TCPIP settings:
I. IP Address
II. Subnet mask
III. Default gateway
IV. DNS (if configured)

3. Confirm network communication is established between the ATM and bank’s network
resources.
4. Copy screens and media files to the ATM. Default location for the screens is:
 C:\Program Files (x86)\NCR APTRA\Advance NDC\Media\.
5. When you are ready to load APTRA Advance NDC applications, perform following:
I. Browse to C:\Install
II. Execute batch file: WINDOWS-10_INSTALLATION_COMPLETED.bat
III. This batch file set SSTAuto1 secure user to autologin, pops up following window
prompting the user to select OK when ready and then reboot the ATM.

6. ATM will reboot and load APTRA advance NDC applications.

NOTE: After installation of APTRA Security, administrator name is changed from SSTAdmin1 to
abcdwxyz and its password is admin1234ADMIN

7. Wait for the ATM apps to load. You will see following blue screen with top left side showing
number 02 (out-of-service) or 03 (supervisor mode).

8. Put ATM in supervisor mode.
9. Select option 7 DIAGNOSTIC and from system application configure following:
I. Calibrate USB operator screen GOP/COP and any other touch screens.
II. Configure EPP Country version, etc.
III. Configure dispenser parameters for local currencies; Singularity, Width size.
IV. Configure Receipt printer paper cutting position; Black mark, fixed length or variable
length.
10. Exit System application and go back to Supervisor main menu.
11. Configure Switch/host communication and message format settings. These settings are given
by the bank’s NDC Switch. {A reboot will be required to complete the configurations}
12. Configure computer TCPIP settings, PC Name, etc. {A reboot will be required to complete the
configurations}
13. Enter Encryption keys.
14. Configure Electronic Journal printer if required.
15. When supervisor tasks are completed, put the ATM in-service mode and load NDC download
and start testing.
16. Now you can start testing transactions with user SSTAUTO1 user mode.

 Administrator username & password:


After installing APTRA security, Administrator user name is changed from SSTAdmin1 to
abcdwxyz and its password: admin1234ADMIN.
The bank can decide to change username and/or password. this should be handled by the
bank’s IT admin.
NOTE: If you want to login with Administrator user (abcdwxyz), and you are using USB
Keyboard, you have to do the following:
I. When the initial Windows startup message is displayed, hold down the LEFT SHIFT key
whilst continually pressing & releasing the RIGHTSHIFT key.
II. When Windows start screen shown, you will be prompted to press CTRl-ALT-DEL.
III. Enter administrator name and password.
IV. Make any changes you need and reboot.

Appendix 1: Reporting of Software issues to the Support
To report software issues to NCR software support channel, provide following information:

1. Detailed description of the issue.


2. Time/date of the issue occurrence.
3. On the ATM under C:\ there is folder called ArchivesDir. This folder is where
various logs are archived daily at 3am local time. If the issue had occurred the
previous day, traces will be available here. And you only need to zip and send
folder C:\ArchivesDir.
4. If the issue had occurred after 2am on the same day, or you are asked by support
team to re-create the issue, then you must perform a supervisor function to
export the logs. To do that perform following:
a. Put ATM into Supervisor mode.
b. Select 5 CONFIGURE
 44 TROUBLESHOOTING
 3 RETRIEVE ARCHIVE
 2 ARCHIVE NOW AND EXPORT
c. Select OK/Enter when prompted to proceed.
5. Logs will be collected to C:\ArchivesDir.
6. Insert a USB Flash drive with capacity of 5+GB.
7. Wait for 10+ minutes (depending on size of the archived logs) until a window is
displayed prompting you to export the logs to a USB Flash drive or on local disk.
Select USB Flash drive.
8. If you don’t export the logs, you can still retrieve C:\ArchivesDir folder, zip it and
send it to support team.
9. Exit supervisor mode and continue.

NOTE: To send and receive information with NCR software support team, NCR has a secure site that’s
used to send and receive information with its associates and customers. Email address of
Receiving/Sending destination is specified, and data are uploaded to an FTP server. The receiving contact
will receive an Email with a Download/Upload link. He/she must click on the link to download/Send the
information.

Appendix 2: Creating Win10 bootable USB hard disk drive
To create a bootable Windows 10 USB Media Disk, carefully perform following steps:

Get one external USB hard disk with minimum size of about 200 GB. Its preferable to have a solid state
hard disk.

The hard disk will be partitioned to two partitions; FAT32 & NTFS.

FAT32 will hold boot files and NTFS will hold the images. The images will be single WIM file.

Please Perform following:

1. On a windows 10 PC, plug-in an empty USB hard disk.


2. Open command prompt and type DISKPART
3. DISKPART console will open with following display:

4. At the prompt DISKPART> type following commands highlighted in green + Enter button
5. DISKPART> list disk

6. DISKPART> Select Disk + Number Corresponding to the number of the Empty USB disk inserted
under Disk ### column above.

7. DISKPART> Clean
8. DISKPART> Create Part Primary size=30000
9. DISKPART> Active
10. DISKPART> Format FS=FAT32 Quick label=”WIN10_PART1”
11. DISKPART> assign letter=T
12. DISKPART> create partition primary
13. DISKPART> format FS=NTFS quick label="WIN10_PART2"
14. DISKPART> assign letter=W
15. DISKPART> exit
16. Close command prompt window.
17. Plug one of the pre-prepared USB disks to the same Windows PC.
18. Copy all contents to the root of the FAT32 Partition WIN10_PART1 except IMAGES folder.
19. On the NTFS partition WIN10_PART2, create folder “IMAGES”. This folder will hold Windows 10
WIM images.
20. On WIN10_PART1 partition, copy and paste the supplied files below:

21. On WIN10_PART1 Copy file “W10_XFS130_ANDC510_231020_BOA_MG.wim” under folder


“IMAGES”.
22. Once you receive and copy the files to their respective locations, you will be able to use the hard
disk to install Windows 10 image.
23. Follow the instructions @ Part 1: Installation of USB Disk Media of this manual.
