From its founding in the early 1970s Castle Acoustics has sought to be a complete manufacturer.
Castle is now one of the last loudspeaker manufacturers to build both its cabinets and drive
units in-house.

In-house manufacture gives us the major advantage of being able to design and develop drive
units for specific cabinets. We don’t have to design our speaker enclosures around modified
‘off-the-peg’ drivers. It also means we can more easily carry out fundamental research into the
interactions between the drivers, cabinet and crossover.

Our integrated design approach gives us the further benefit that drive units designed for a
specific speaker system can avoid the need for complex crossovers. It is widely understood that
fewer, high quality components in a simple crossover network give a cleaner sound.

Music is beyond pleasure – the intimacy and connection with the
performer at a live concert is electrifying, capable of bringing to the
fore emotions forgotten and hidden, yet stirred with passion and
performance. The greatest performers through history have relied
on the craftsmanship invested in their instruments – developed
over generations and passed from master to student.

We believe that the same level of craftsmanship and passion

should be the goal of the loudspeaker designer – to create a
performance which communicates at an emotional level beyond
the mere technicalities of accuracy. To reproduce a level of
communication akin to a live performance is our goal and one
which we continually strive to achieve.

This gifted group of individuals rated craftsmanship and quality of materials as fundamental
in loudspeaker design. Whilst it is still true that each loudspeaker design should perform
to the very highest standards - that shouldn’t mean ugly black boxes and cheap, mass-
produced components. Instead, the newly founded Castle Acoustics decided to go
their own way and manufacture each Castle loudspeaker to the finest furniture-quality
standards using the finest woods and veneers allied to the finest acoustic materials and
technology of their time.

As Castle Acoustics rose to popularity through models such as the famous ‘Howard’,
‘Harlech’ and ‘Durham’, the company embraced new technologies and home cinema
products began to emerge, featuring the same attention to detail lavished on the two
channel models.

Today Castle Acoustics represents the very best in loudspeaker quality. Each drive unit
and cabinet, is hand-made by craftsmen. Designed for the discerning audiophile, they
feature the latest innovations in acoustic technology and materials, yet always without
compromise to the end performance.

Under the direction of Chief Engineer, Steve Hewlett, Castle Acoustics faces a bright
future. New loudspeaker designs and exciting new materials and technologies will
continue to keep the performance of Castle products at the very cutting edge of research
into acoustics, yet every design present and future owes its foundation to the vision of
the original six – all of whom creating a brand at one with the performance – a perfect
balance of form and function.
Classic Series

Since 1973 Castle has been a loudspeaker manufacturers in the truest possible sense with
both design and manufacture of their world famous speakers housed entirely in one factory.
Castle is rare amongst loudspeaker manufacturers in that they not only manufacture the
drive units and electronic components found in their speakers but also the beautifully hand
crafted real wood veneered cabinets used to enclose them.

30 years ago when Castle was formed the founding concept was to be a complete loudspeaker
manufacturer and despite changing times and the globalisation of manufacturing Castle still
retain this as the basis for the company.

Whether it be our superb hand finished real wood veneered cabinets, available in eight
alternative choices, or our state of the art woven carbon fibre coned bass units that first
attracted you to the Castle product you can be sure that they were manufactured by Castle,
the world’s most complete loudspeaker manufacturer.

The Castle Compact series has been engineered to address just these issues. An
extraordinary level of craftsmanship has been employed in a miniature hand-built
cabinet using advanced drive units and a simple crossover to create a compact
loudspeaker with a performance to belie its modest dimensions.

Coupled with a powerful subwoofer and a dedicated centre speaker, the system
