At any time, a business workplace is always a competitive environment which requires

employees to have a cluster of knowledge and skills to survive. Personally, despite still
enrolling in university campus and not having any specific exposure to any business-related
experience, I soon realized the pivotal role of business professionalism and working etiquette
not only in my future career, but also my current university life. Therefore, this essay will
elaborate on my self-reflection about professional behaviors at work.

First of all, the utmost significant thing that we need to build in order to improve our
employability is creating a firm credibility. Social intelligence in communicating, positive
attitude toward any burdens, teamwork skills and civil behavior are all the things we need to
acquire so that other people can lay their faith on you. I was born to be an empathetic person
and tend to pay attention to other people's feelings, which helps me to understand the current
status of my partner so as to choose the best way to communicate. However, personality or
any innate traits can not be a life-long advantage, there are so many things that I have to
intensively learn to perform in a professional business environment, even with the most
trivial things. For example, how to choose attire, or dining manners when I have to deal with
a business partner. Besides, I highly believe that there are a myriad of procedures that are
required in business courses such as meetings, conferences, workshops, etc. that I need to
learn and practice.

Secondly, to be more specific in how to foster your credibility among your colleagues and
managers, we need to thoroughly comprehend the art of face-to-face interaction which
includes voice or language choices. Apart from the least criterias of speaking that we have to
master like pronunciation, zero grammatical error or coherence, we need to concentrate on
voice quality, tone, pitch, emphasis and verbal tics since they directly affect your speech
delivery in face-to-face context. For me, I love singing and I have trained myself so much in
controlling the features of my voice, so I am relatively confident in this skill. However, it also
depends on the real context of face-to-face meetings that can affect my performance.

Thirdly, as working in such an informative environment, sharing proposals, ideas or letters

are daily activities. Therefore, professional telephone skills and voice mail etiquette are
required to be known. Unluckily, I have no prior knowledge or experience in two of these
skills since they are not familiar and not useful in my current working life.

Fourthly, collaboration is an optimal way to rule the world nowadays, teamwork has become
a must-have skill in this fast-paced era. Working well together can benefit us in many ways,
both personally and collectively. Anytime I am assigned to a team to do a project, I always
try my best to be the most active member and be helpful toward other team members. When
conflicts occur, it is usually me who stands up and reconciles members of my teams.
Nonetheless, sometimes, I feel that I am a bit overconfident and want to make decisions by
my own thoughts without team discussion, which need to be avoided since becoming a
listener and a constructive responder is the real thing to bring people together.
Last but not least, having great knowledge of modern technology is advantageous when we
want to well-perform in a business workplace. Fortunately, I possess all the must-have
computer skills such as Microsoft office apps, editing video, audio editing, etc at a moderate
competence. I highly believe that my passion about technology will help me gain more credit
from my future employers.
In conclusion, this is essay is just a self-reflection of my business professional skills, I reckon
that there are much more things that I want to know or have to learn to achieve success in the
future
