1.0 Introduction

1.1 As detailed in the above client contract number L9ZR-FI-60-K005.

This engineering study specifies the requirements for Supply & Installation of
300/132kV SUBSTATION (KNPC "W")

2.0 Proposed Scope of Works

2.1 This method statement describes the procedure of the following works:

Installation of Steel Frames and Doors Works at the site.

3.0 Parties involved and Responsibilities

3.1 The parties involved in the works will be as follows:

The parties involved in the works are KIPIC, FDH JV, Siemens and Siemens
civil subcontractor, A.S.C.C the approved supplier from MEW /FDH JV, who will
perform the activities of Civil as explained in the contract, will submit
documents which are necessary for the execution of civil activities (example:
Method statement, RFI and etc) to Siemens and Siemens will submit the
document after the review / Inspection to FDH JV and MEW for further
necessary action.

Siemens civil site manager is the one point contact at site for all civil related
activities for MEW / FDH JV.

For A.S.C.C also Siemens civil site manager is only the point of contact for all
civil related activities.

5.0 Summary of Equipment , tools and materials to be used

5.1 The following equipment and tools will be used for the scope of works covered
under this method statement :

Doors and Frames shall be approved by MEW Engineer prior to installation.
6.0 Proposed Method Statement for Installation of steel frames and Doors Works

The following method statement is written is to describe the measures and ways
of proper application of Steel frames and doors works which shall be carried out in
compliance with the drawings, project specifications, and materials to all areas of
construction sites both internal and external.

Work procedure

Installation of Steel Frames

 Materials shall be stored on adequate place and protected from extreme weather
conditions and direct sunlight.

 All safety measures required for personnel's and working area prior to confirm start with
installation works.

 Check the dimensions of the structural openings on both ways (Width and Height).

 The frames are to be mobilized to opening locations without damage with the temporary
spreader intact.

 The frame shall be placed around the opening, at the approved location and fixed with
sub frame using by tack welding.

 The frame shall be then checked for verticality and horizontal level at the header and
held in position.

 After confirm level make switch welding 50mm every 400mm distance on two sides.

 The temporary spreader is to be retained until the final checking.

 Inspection Request to be submitted for checking and approval of the MEW Engineer.

Installation of Door Leaf

 The Door leaf shall be then being hung with the custom made hinges with pin.

 Door leaf shall be aligned to have the specified side gaps between frame & door leaf.

 Inspection Request to be submitted for checking and approval of the MEW Engineer.

Paint Application – (First Coat)

 Close all Steel Frame with sub frame joint location with metal putty and touch up with
primer.

 Mask & protect all adjusted surfaces prior to application of paint.

 Check all the paint material and Color with approved items prior to start with painting.

 Apply the first coat of paint and leave to dry.

 After first coat paint, start with installation of Hardware.

Hardware Installation

 Check all the hardware items with approved hardware schedule and fix in position as
per approved shop drawing.

 The fixed hardware shall be protected prior to application of final coat of paint.

 Inspection Request to be submitted for checking and approval of the MEW Engineer.

Paint Application – (Final Coat)

 Check all the surface of steel frame and door leaf and make all preparation prior to
apply final coat.

 Check all the paint material and Color with approved items prior to start with painting.

 Apply the final coat of paint.

 The protection to be removed after the paint is dry.

 Inspection Request to be submitted for checking and approval of the MEW Engineer.

Health, Safety & Environment:

 All works shall comply with safety procedure or instruction set out in project safety plan
and Municipality rules and regulations.

 Basic PPE to be worn by all staff or laborers.

 All workers shall be provided with proper tools and equipment to execute the work
safely.

 All operatives involve in this work shall be inducted before entering the site.

 Tool box talk shall be conducted regularly.
