- Adding monitor brightness control to SimHub.

- A color property for a brightness layer in Dash Studio

“AutoBrightness.DashLayerColor”

- As well as a blue light filter for the monitors and the Dash Studio layer.

For my ambient light sensor I used a photocell on an Arduino pro micro

and the gamepad analog axis component in the Arduino wizard to output
the light sensor pin to a property.

https://youtu.be/Z4zI_4QqCeo

47
1.6.1.1. ROTARY SWITCH

An example of a clickable rotary switch using JS in Dash Studio.

1.6.1.2. TOGGLE SWITCH

An example of toggle switches using JS in Dash Studio.

1.6.1.3. XBOX ONE CONTROLLER - vJoy

SimHub won’t see Xbox controller inputs while playing games.

So this overlay remapped to a vJoy controller.

48
1.6.2. JS FUNCTIONS

A script that adds the following JS functions to SimHub:

changed(delay, value)
Returns true for the specified delay when the value has changed
Call example: return changed(1000, $prop('InputStatus.JoystickPlugin.DSD_Race_King_B14'))

isincreasing(delay, value)
Returns true for the specified delay when the value has increased
Call example: return isincreasing(1000, $prop('InputStatus.JoystickPlugin.DSD_Race_King_B14'))

isdecreasing(delay, value)
Returns true for the specified delay when the value has decreased
Call example: return isdecreasing(1000, $prop('InputStatus.JoystickPlugin.DSD_Race_King_B14'));

toggle(togglename, togglecondition, defaultstatus)

Alternate a value when the toggle condition is met
Call example: toggle('ToggleButton14', blink( 'blinkername', 500, 1), false);

cycle(cyclename, incrementcondition, minvalue, maxvalue, defaultvalue)

Increments a counter from a set min value when the increment condition is met.
Resets the counter when incrementing past the max value.
Call example: cycle('CycleButton14', $prop('InputStatus.JoystickPlugin.DSD_Race_King_B14'), 0, 10, 0);

count(countername, incrementcondition, resetcondition)

Increments a counter from 0 when the increment condition is met.
Resets the counter when the reset condition is met.
Call example: count('CountButton14', $prop('InputStatus.JoystickPlugin.DSD_Race_King_B14'),
$prop('InputStatus.JoystickPlugin.DSD_Race_King_B00'));

49
1.6.3. LEDs PROFILE

The profile is copied to: C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub\RSC - Profiles\LEDs\

You’ll have to import it from SimHub using the profile manager.

It’s made for a 144LEDs strip and includes the following effects, many of them are custom made.
Some effects are specific to iRacing or ACC.

Center:
- RPM as % of the redline
- Redline
- Rev limiter
- Pit limiter
- Pit overspeed
- Pit underspeed
- Pit box distance (Requires the “iRacing Extra Properties” plugin.)

Sides:
- Turn indicators
- Pit lane animation
- Pit entry
- Pit exit
- DRS
- Session flags (Red/Black/ StartSet/StartReady/Green/White/Checkered/Incident/Yellow/Blue)
- Low fuel
- TC/ABS Active
- Headlights Stages
- Headlights Flashing
- Rain lights
- Wipers stages
- Car left/Right

Garage/Engine off animation

Light off on game exit
Boot up animation.

50
1.6.4. SHAKE IT PROFILES

Bass shakers profiles are copied to: C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub\RSC - Profiles\Bass Shakers\
You have to import them from SimHub using the profile manager.

The effects and profiles are tuned to my taste and setup (2 Aura and 14 Dayton pucks over 8 channels).Due to improper mapping, mixing and
frequency adjustment they won’t be usable out of the box.
Don’t expect the full profiles to work on your setup. See this more like an effect bank.
I recommend trying the effects on their own and/or by group and copy what you like to your own profile.
Hopefully you’ll find something you like and/or this will give you some ideas to create your own effects.

I don’t take credit for all that’s in there. Some effects ideas and creation approaches are from other member of the SimHub community, notably
Mr Latte. Thanks you guys! This is my twist on it.

1.5.3.1. IRACING AND ACC PROFILE

These 2 profiles are fairly similar but some effects are tuned or remade per games.
Obviously these include many built-in effects, some of them with multiple layers.

They also contain the following custom effects

- Road Vibrations - Exclusive (Stops during Road Impacts)
- Wheels slip with upshifts filtered out (iRacing)
- Corner load (lat and long) - 4 Corners
- Engine Start/Stop/Stall (Works best with ACC)
- Rev Limiter
- Pit Limiter
- Two-Step Shifts - Ka-Clunk! (expending and compressing if properly mapped)
- Clutch Bite Point
- Gear Grinding (Requires the “Extra Input Properties” plugin, and a mapped H shifter)

51
1.5.3.2. MACHINE GUN BUTTON

An example of effects triggered by controller inputs.

- Machine Gun Mono - XBox One B Button

This effect simulate a firing machine gun pulse when a button is pressed.

- Machine Gun Corner - XBox One A Button + Left stick direction

Similar effect but in 4 corner mode. The direction of the effect is controlled with an analog joystick.

It requires a SimHub Game or data replay to be running, or Shake It won’t run at all.
To use input based effects with a non SimHub supported game. Open a data replay and
pause it at a “silent” moment. Make sure to disable this option:

1.5.3.2. THE DISHWASHER

This profile started as a massage profile but ended up making me feel like I was in a dishwasher...
It includes various mono and directionnal pulses, waves and rumble effects.

It requires proper 4 corner mapping.

Do the mapping first.
Make sure the output is enabled during replays (see above)
Start with low volume and few effects.
Launch and pause a replay to start the washing cycle ;)

1.6.5. RESTART SIMHUB ACTION

A “Run_Restart_SimHub.bat” action that can be mapped to a button.

This will close SimHub cleanly and restart it.

52
2. HOW TO
For general help regarding SimHub, please refer the official wiki: https://github.com/SHWotever/SimHub/wiki

2.1. INSTALL or UPDATE

1. Make sure to update SimHub. This won’t work properly on some older versions : https://www.simhubdash.com/
2. Close SimHub
3. Run the “RSC_Setup_X.X.X.exe” installer and install to your SimHub folder.
4. Open SimHub.
5. Enable the installed plugins the when prompted to (or later in SimHub settings/plugins screen).
6. Any custom button mapping also requires the “Controllers input” plugin to be enabled.
7. The audio visualizer on dashboards idle screen requires the “Audio Control” plugin to be enabled.
8. Some games have to be configured to work with SimHub:
https://github.com/SHWotever/SimHub/wiki/SimHub-Basics----Games-config-and-troubleshooting
9. For iRacing, make sure the game server is sending all the cars telemetry:
o Set the "Max Cars" setting to 63 in iRacing graphic settings and restart the game.

o Bump up your connection type on your account settings: https://members.iracing.com/membersite/account_auth.jsp

53
The following actions require the default control bindings in game

Text Chat: "T" (pit and admin actions)

Reload textures: "Ctrl + R"

Telemetry toggle: "Alt + L"

Telemetry marker "M"

Replay:
Play/Pause: "KP 5"
Fast forward: "Shift + KP 6"
Rewind: "Shift + KP 4"
Slow motion: "KP 8"
Previous session: "Ctrl + KP 4"
Previous lap: "Shift + KP 1"
Next camera: "C"
Previous camera: "Shift + C"
Next car: "V"
Previous car: "Shift + V"
Your car: "Ctrl + V"

Notes: You can run the installer again and check more boxes to install more features on top of the one previously installed.

54
2.2. UNINSTALL

Launch the uninstaller from Windows Settings/Apps:

Or from Control Panel/All Control Panel Items/Programs and Features:

Every files copied by the RSC_Setup_X.X.X.exe installer during the installation will be removed.
File generated by the installed plugins (general settings, iRacing per track pit entry/exit location, per car clutch bite point… ) will not be deleted.
If you ever want to delete one of these, they are stored in this folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub\PluginsData\Common.
55
2.3. CUSTOMIZE THE DASHBOARDS/OVERLAYS/PLUGINS

You’ll find many customization options in the “Additional Plugins” screens: https://youtu.be/eOKhGBMYjxY

56
2.4. DISPLAY AN OVERLAY

To display on screen, start a new SimHub overlay layout, add the overlays you want on your screen and save the layout. The game must run
windowed.

To display on stream, add a new browser source to your scene. Use the provided OBS browser address and resolution or copy the address
using the “more” button in the overlay list.

This warning means the overlay is too large to be added to an existing

layout but you can start a new overlay from it.

2.5. IMPROVE OVERLAYS PERFOMANCE

Running multiple overlays/dashboards can be taxing on the system resources, especially when there are many cars in the session.

If you run into performance issues try to:

1. Slow down the update rate of dash studio, in Dash Studio /

Settings screen:

2. Reduce the number of overlays in use.

2.6. CHANGE THE UNITS

Change the units in the SimHub Settings/General screen (except for last hot tire pressure stuck in kpa for iRacing).

57
2.7. ADJUST THE REDLINE/SHIFT POINT AND FUEL ALERT THRESHOLD

You can adjust the redline from the SimHub “Car

settings” screen, as a general setting or per car.

You’ll also find the fuel alert threshold setting on this

screen.

If the alert is disabled in the car settings, the dash will

revert to its default threshold of 3 laps of fuel.

2.8. ADJUST THE CLUTCH BITE POINT

When you first drive a car, the input plugin learns the clutch bite point from the first 3 standing starts (based on change in speed).
The learned threshold is displayed as a red line on the clutch gauge and exported to a property; ExtraInputProperties.ClutchBitePoint

This property can feed a custom clutch friction shaker effect: ExtraInputProperties.ShakeIt_ClutchFriction

This cannot account for clutch wear. "Teach" the plugin with a fresh car and release the clutch slowly for a more accurate result.
58
If the saved value is incorrect after 3 starts go to "Additional plugins" / "RSC - input Display" screen and click the button to discard the saved bite
point. The plugin will learn again during the next 3 standing starts.
You can also map a button to discard the value on the fly.

https://youtu.be/_qS9QqncHTs

2.9. CONFIGURE THE CHECKLIST

2.10. CONFIGURE THE SYSTEM INFO PAGE OF THE UNIVERSAL IRACING DASH

Map the properties in SimHub Settings/System Info/System monitoring configuration.

Use fan speed properties reporting fan speed in % rather than RPM.

59
2.11. USE THE iRACING PIT COMMANDS

The “480 iRacing dash” and the pit screen of the “Universal iRacing dash” include tactile buttons to adjust iRacing pit options.

The buttons type commands into the iRacing chat.

Make sure your "Text Chat" button in game is "T" (Options/Controls/Other Controls).

- If the dash is displayed on a PC screen, make sure to run the dash in desktop mode (as opposed to HTML mode) or the buttons will only
work when the dash is in full screen. Click on the “More” button to switch mode.

60
2.12. ENABLE DASHBOARD FLICKERING FOR BUMPS AND KERBS

Some of the dash displays and lights can flicker when going over large bumps and kerbs. I find it improves the feeling of the dash being part of
the car.

1. Make sure to enable the “ShakeIt Bass Shakers” plugin in the settings/Plugin Screen and restart SimHub.
2. Add a “Road Impacts” effect to your ShakeIt Bass Shakers Profile.
3. Set the spatialization mode to "Mono"
4. Tick the “Export output value as a property” and name the property: Road_Impacts
5. Tick the “Disable output” box

Notes:
The effect must be enabled. The effect doesn’t have to be mapped to an audio output.
ShakeIt has an auto-calibration feature. The flickering is disabled for the first 3km to avoid excessive flickering during the calibration.
If needed, you can tune the “Road Impacts” effect to adjust the flickers sensitivity (using the “auto-calibration sensitivity” and curve settings)
61
2.13. ADJUST THE STEERING ANGLE

In some cases, the wheel angle displayed may not always match the real one. You can edit some settings (angle and saturation) to fix this here:

62
2.14. CHANGE THE ODOMETER MODE

Go to the "Additional
plugins" screen to look at
your records and to choose
what value to display on
your dashboard (stint,
session, car, game or
global)

63
2.15. TROUBLESHOOT A “NO SOUND” ISSUE

If you cannot hear any sounds please follows these steps:

1. Make sure SimHub is up to date. https://www.simhubdash.com/

2. Double check the “RSC - Sounds” plugin is installed and enabled:

64
3. Double check the sounds are not disabled:

4. Make sure SimHub volume isn’t too low:

5. Click the “+” and “–” buttons as well as the “test” button. Then there are 3 possible cases.

65
6. CASE 1: You can hear sounds (voice and beep) when clicking the “+” and “–” buttons. There is no problem. The enabled sounds should
play when required once a game is connected to SimHub.

7. CASE 2: You can hear a sound (beep) when clicking “test” button, but not when clicking the “+” and “–” buttons. The included mp3 files
are missing from the “Sounds” folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\SimHub\Sounds
Please use the installer to reinstall the “Sounds” plugin.

8. CASE 3: You don’t hear any sound when pressing the “test” button. Please proceed as follow:

a. Remember SimHub will use Windows default playback device.

b. Open Windows sound settings and make sure the default playback device is the
correct one:

c. Disable exclusive mode for this playback device to avoid conflict with other
applications:

d. Reboot your PC to make sure the audio interface was correctly released.

Enjoy!
