DIRECT MOUNT VALVES

NAMUR INTERFACE
HERION

Pilot Operated - Soft Seal Spool Design Brochure N-221

WHAT IS “NAMUR”:
The NAMUR interface pattern for rotary actuators (see
Fig.1) originated in Europe. NAMUR (VDI/VDE 3845)
provides a standard footprint for mounting directional
control valves and other accessories directly to the ac-
tuator, while eliminating unnecessary pipe or tubing.

INTERFACE DETAILS:
European produced actuators are standardized on M5
tapped holes and mounting screws, but manufacturers
in the United States have generally chosen to tap actua-
tors with #10-24 threads. HERION USA furnishes #10-
24 screws as standard, but M5 screws can be provided
on request.

The 1/4” NPT actuator ports are sealed, using the two
O-rings (16mm X 2mm) that come with the valve. Also
furnished are two #10-24 X 1-1/2” lg. socket head cap
screws for mounting the valve on the actuator. The
NAMUR pattern design makes it possible to rotate the
valve 180º before it is mounted, thus changing the rota-
tion of the actuator in relationship to the energization of
the solenoid valve. Since the same two actuator holes
are used for either valve placement, this can lead to con-
fusion. A “coding screw” (#10-24 x 3/8” lg. set screw) is
provided. Once the desired actuator rotation and corre-
sponding valve placement have been determined, the
set screw can be threaded into the unused actuator hole,
that coincides with the “matching recess” in the valve
housing. With the coding screw in place a solenoid valve
can never be removed, then reinstalled incorrectly. (See
Fig. 2). Fig. 1 NAMUR Mounting Details

• Wide variety of solenoids including low power, haz-
ardous location, FM and CSA listings. Note: All dimensions in millimeters (inches)
VALVE ORDER INFORMATION:

Valve Notes: (1) “3-way valves” for spring return actuators include an integral exhaust feedback feature. Through internal porting
some exhaust air is redirected into the spring chamber of the actuator. The rerouted exhaust air prevents outside
air and its potential contaminants from entering the chamber.
(2) Do not restrict exhaust port no. 3 on these valves (where noted), or the valve can malfunction.
(3) A complete order number includes valve, solenoid, and voltage, e.g. 8110737T30.3726.02400 where .02400 represents 24
VDC.

Solenoid Specifications: Solenoid Notes:

Solenoids are available in a wide variety of types and voltages. The 1. Listings in the solenoid table include a DIN
following table summarizes a few common ones. Additional informa- 43650 Form A cable clamp connector.
tion can be found in brochures N209, N280, and N286. Other connectors, such as 1/2” NPT and
lighted are also available. For example a
NPT connector can be ordered by adding
an “N” after the solenoid number,
e.g.3035N, 0263N, etc. See brochure
N251 for protection Classification.
2. “372X” series solenoids have an integral
1/2” NPT conduit connection and 18” long
wire leads. They are listed by FM and
CSA for use in hazardous locations:
Class I, Div. 1,2 Groups A,B,C,D
Class II Div. 1,2 Groups E,F,G
3. “3039” solenoid operators are approved in-
trinsically safe to CENELEC, USA and Ca-
nadian standards.
