CONDITIONS
1. The registration value of a motor vehicle is the residual cost, including the insurance and freight (CIF), of an equivalent or similar
vehicle which was purchased new in Malta and that would pass a VRT Test, is mechanically sound, free of any damages and in its
original condition. The formula used to derive the registration value is [Average Used Price x (CIF New/Price New)], where the
average used price is calculated by deriving price ratios, combining local consumer prices or opinion values provided by authorised
dealers where consumer prices are insufficient and information which is published by CAP Motor Research Ltd. All this information
provide a framework for publishing the registration values for the majority of used motor vehicles being brought into Malta. The
(CIF New/Price New) ratio is calculated on the basis of information held by Transport Malta.
