Stack Switch
Flexible capacity expansion has also become an important feature of stacking technology. Different stackable switches in the
family can be mixed in a single stack to provide a desired combination of port types and functions to match the requirements
of individual applications. Through stacking technology, a stack group can be also treating as a large multi-port chassis
switch.
In a different network applications and environmental needs, stacking Technology can be divided into the following categories:

Why Stacking ?
Regarding present SMB (Small and Medium Business) or larger enterprises and the campus network environment, the network
expansion and change as organizations change. Especially enters to the IP time, almost all of the OA equipment have the
ability to have a network connection. SMB and enterprise network environment is growing day by day, but the resource of
the company or campus network manager is limited. How to simplify and easy central management the growing network
environment with limited manpower has become a new network management philosophy.

The stacking technology also enables the chassis-based switches to be integrated into PLANET stackable series switch
without the expensive up-front cost. The PLANET stackable switch family delivers the cost-effective, reliability, scalability
and flexibility growing SMB and enterprises need in an affordable and simple management solution.
As a professional network switch suppliers, PLANET offers two product types with stacking technology, customers can
choose the appropriate stacking technology according to their demand of network environment.

Understanding IP Stacking
PLANET SGSW IP stackable switch is integrated with the two technologies-
single IP Management and switch Clustering. Switch Clustering allows
up to 36 IP stackable switches to be grouped together for centralized
management through a single unit. The IP stackable switches can be
included in a cluster regardless of physical location or switch type, as long
as they support clustering and are connected to the same local network.
The distance between IP stackable switches can be up to 120km or longer
with corresponded SFP transceiver modules.

Advantages of IP Stacking
The PLANET IP stackable switch does not require the use of additional management applications, it accomplish multiple
configuration tasks from a single Web browser window. That is an ideal way to manage a network in logical groups to ensure
a consistent management interface. PLANET IP stacking offers scalability and flexibility to provide a desired combination
of port types, device dimension and functions to match the requirements of individual applications, such as Power over
Ethernet. It also enables SMBs and enterprises to centralize the management of their network switches, and provide them
with the control and flexibility they need at a price they can afford.
