PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY

C. The Owner requires the Contractor to implement practices and procedures to meet the
project's environmental performance goals, which include compliance with the
requirements determined by the Sustainability Consultant’s design documentation
(LEED & WELL), and applicable local authority Green Building Regulation. Specific
project goals that may impact this area of work include, but are not limited to: reduced
impact of construction activities, construction waste recycling, reduction of water and
energy usage, adequate protection for storing materials, use of recycled-content
materials, use of locally manufactured materials, use of low-emitting materials, use of
materials having EPD's, and avoid use of restricted materials. The Contractor shall
ensure that the requirements related to these goals, as defined in individual
specification sections are implemented to the fullest extent. Substitutions, or other
changes to the work proposed by the Contractor or their Subcontractors, shall not be
allowed if such changes compromise the aforementioned environmental goals and
Green Building Regulation compliance.
1. Contractor shall, at all times undertake to ensure that all targeted goals are
achieved. As and when any risks arise that could compromise the achievement of
one or more of the targeted goals, the Contractor shall bring these to the attention
of the Employer's Representative immediately.
1.2 ALLOWANCES
A. Work of this Section is part of Interior Planter and Artificial Plant Allowance.
B. Shop Drawings:
1. Metal Planter Liners: Show layouts, profiles, shapes, seams, and dimensions.
2. Self-Contained Subirrigation Units: Show fabrication and installation details of
units and accessories.
C. Samples: For each freestanding planter finish, color, and texture specified, not less than
76 by 76 mm in size.
D. Samples for Initial Selection: For each type of freestanding planter and each type of
exposed finish.
E. Samples for Verification: For each freestanding planter finish, color, and texture, not
less than 76 by 76 mm in size.
1. Freestanding planters.
2. Site-installed, self-contained subirrigation units.
3. Manufactured interior plants.
B. Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals: Include component list with the
manufacturer’s reference numbers, descriptions of materials and procedures
forrepairing and cleaning of finishes, and cleaning frequency.

C. Fittings and Accessories: Provide fittings and accessories necessary for proper
functioning of unit as recommended by manufacturer and as follows:

NFPA 701.

PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine areas, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for
environmental conditions, and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.
B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Before installation, lay out interior planters in locations indicated. Adjust locations
when requested by Architect and obtain Architect's acceptance of layout before
installation.
A. Install freestanding planters level and plumb. Use concealed shims where required for
alignment.
B. Trim fill tubes to no less than 25 mm higher than level of planting soil after plants have
been planted.
