Comparing to Travel Plans

Part 2. Think about the following question. (Get at least 3 answers)

How is planning a lesson similar to planning a trip?

3

Key Points about Lesson Planning

How is planning a lesson similar to planning a trip?

- Anticipate what you want to do/see

- If you’re prepared, you can save time and see/do more
- Don’t know what will actually happen (weather, people, events, etc)
- You make adjustments based on what’s happening

On our course, you make a detailed lesson plan to help you visualize what
you’re going to do. This can help you put the ideas from this course into
practice. But…

- No one actually makes detailed plans for their regular job! :-)
- It’s fine if you diverge from your lesson plan. Just think about why you
made that decision.

Part 3. Look at the following key features of a detailed lesson plan. What do
they mean or include?
● Objective (SWBAT)
● Steps
● Time
● Interaction
● Teacher description
● Student description
● Aims
● Instructions
● Materials

Part 4. Now look at the sample lesson plan. Where do you see these things?
Share your screen and ask your partner.
