Signs It’s Time to Transition to 2 Naps

Baby is 6.5-8 months old, AND at least one of the following:

A. Baby starts to struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep at naptime.

B. Nap #3 interferes with bedtime (Not enough time for full wake window before appropriate bedtime).

C. Baby is consistently refusing Nap #3 (5 of the last 7 days).

D. Early morning wakings or middle of the night wakings begin (or never seem to stop despite 14 nights of
consistent ABCs implementation).

Seeing the signs? It’s time to go check out the “3 to 2 Nap Transition” video in your class!

“Master” Plan

About 2.75-3 hours after waking Nap 1

Here’s our Goal Master Plan:

About 3-3.5 hours after nap 1 Nap 2

About 3-4 hours after nap 2 Bedtime

When the “goal” isn’t reality during a nap transition, just remember “2 pm” is our magic time.

If the second nap ends before 2pm, add in a cat nap. If the nap ends after 2pm, go for an early bedtime.
Example schedule: Very short naps, required a 3rd nap Example schedule: Slightly short naps, minimum wake
windows early in the day
