    Pressure activation for hydraulic packers

    Applications Description
     Temporary plug in tubing for setting The Evolution Model E Hydro-Trip Sub is used
    hydraulically actuated packers. to hydraulically set tools, such as hydraulic
    packers with the application of tubing pressure.
    Setting is achieved by circulating a ball to a
    Features seat in the sub, and applying sufficient pressure
     Works in single and dual completions to activate the setting mechanism in the tool

     Can be run in any location in the tubing below.

    mechanism shears, allowing the ball to pass
    down the tubing string.
    Benefits
    After the Hydro-Trip Sub has been set, the tool
     Single body joint with anti-torque lock
    provides an open bore for passage of drop
    screws
    balls or wireline equipment.

     Circulation available prior to ball drop
    Operation

    To set a hydraulic packer, drop or circulate a


    ball down the tubing to the seat in the Hydro-
    Trip Sub.

    Apply sufficient tubing pressure to activate the


    setting mechanism in the packer. After the
    packer is set, a pressure increase shears the
    shear screws in the shear ring, to allow the ball
    seat to move down until the fingers snap back
    into a groove. The sub is then fully open with
    no restrictions to productions, and the ball
    passes on down the tubing.
