(operator) name written in the selected language are set and transferred to the set remote
system.

Note that the transferred data includes personal names containing separators as specified
in the DICOM standards (hospital names do not contain these separators). Confirm that
the separator specified in the DICOM standards is supported by the remote system. If an
image file is transferred to a remote system that does not support the separator, the
display order of personal names (first, middle, and last) may be incorrect in some cases.

The language can be set individually for each remote system to which data is to be
transferred using the DICOM protocol.

(3) DICOM warning level setting tool

(a) Application

When the local system requests various DICOM services from the remote system, a
warning message may be received from the remote system. In this case, the local
system may take one of the following actions.

(1) Stop due to an error

(2) Ignore the warning message and continue processing

The default setting is for the local system to take action (1) "Stop due to an error" for
all warning messages related to DICOM services.

Using this tool, the setting can be changed so that the system takes action (2)
"Ignore the warning message and continue processing" for specified warning
messages and services.

Action (1) "Stop due to an error" is recommended when warning messages are
received. However there are some cases in which the remote system always
responds with a warning message. In these cases the setting can be changed to
action (2) "Ignore warning message and continue processing" if it does not cause any
adverse effects to the system functionality.

For example, if an imager responds with a "Memory allocation not supported"

warning message every time a Film Session Create is requested (*1), the warning
message can be safely ignored and processing continued because the local system
does not request memory allocation from the imager.

(*1): Although the modality can request memory allocation from the imager in
DICOM print, the imager may not support the memory allocation function.
However some types of imager always respond with a "Memory allocation not
supported" warning message even if the memory allocation function is not
supported and memory allocation is not requested by the modality.

(4) DICOM setting tool for the number of lines to be connected

(a) Application

When several lines are simultaneously connected to the remote system, the speed of
image transfer is increased.

Using this tool, the number of lines simultaneously connected to the DICOM remote
system is specified.

NOTE: Before using this tool, be sure to register the DICOM remote systems using
the DICOM environment setting tool (refer to subsection 5.2.1 (3)).

NOTE: Only one line can be connected depending on the remote system (*). For
more details, contact the manufacturer of the DICOM remote system.

*: Be sure not to connect several lines if rearrangement of images is not supported

by the remote system or if connection of several lines is prohibited at the remote
system. If several lines are simultaneously connected to the remote system, the
order of images to be sent will be inconsistent.

Note that if this tool is not used (that is, if the number of lines to be connected is not
specified), the number of lines is automatically set to 1.

5.2.5 DICOM couch position output setting

NOTE: This setting is an option that can be set when image transfer to radiation therapy
planning systems is performed. Do not perform this setting in other cases.

(1) Introduction

In DICOM, the image position (0020, 0032) (Type 1) indicates the position that is set at the
upper right corner of the image. This position does not indicate the gantry operating panel
display value (relative couch position), for which the position of the origin point can be
changed by clicking the 0 clear button. Rather, it indicates the position (absolute couch
position) that is internally set in the system for controlling the couch, with the position when
the system power is turned ON as the origin point. This is because, for the relative couch
position, the positional relationship before and after the 0 clear button is clicked cannot be
controlled, and for example, the line segments cannot be displayed correctly in the
Scano/CT function.

Note that the slice location (0020, 1041) (Type 3) indicates the relative couch position.
The image position displayed at the radiation therapy planning systems does not
correspond to the gantry operating panel display value.

(2) Output of the relative couch position

The relative couch position can be output as the image position (0020, 0032) only for
DICOM output to the specified system as follows.

The following restrictions apply. Understand these restrictions and explain them to the
customer.

(a) Select "Anatomical landmark plus" mode for base position setting. (Do not select
other modes.) Once scanning has been performed, the 0 clear button is disabled
until an examination for a single patient has been completed. This means that the
origin point of the relative couch position is constant for the same patient. In other
modes, on the other hand, since the 0 clear button can be clicked more than once in
an examination for a single patient, the positional relationship cannot be controlled
based on the relative couch position information only.

In addition, in "Anatomical landmark plus" mode, base position setting (0 clear)

cannot be performed in eXam Plan editing. If the base position setting is set in the
eXam Plan, this setting must be disabled beforehand.

(b) If the patient insertion direction is "FF", indications are reversed. Scanning must be
performed with the patient insertion direction "HF".

125
No. 2D260-128EN

(3) Setting procedures

<1> Select [Utility]  [Setup]  [Option Setting]. Select "Anatomical landmark plus".
The images that are obtained after the setting has been completed and the system
has been rebooted contain the base position setting information. The relative couch
position is output only when images containing the base position setting information
are transferred to a specified system via DICOM transfer. The absolute couch
position is output for image transfer to systems other than the specified system.

<2> Conversion file setting

Open the following file with Notepad and enter the host names of the radiation
therapy planning systems and descriptions for the conversion mode. Lines starting
with "#" are comments, so enter the host name and the descriptions for the
conversion mode below a line starting with "#".

Note that "0x00000011" is used for the conversion mode. In addition, do not transfer
MPR images. When several transfer destinations are to be specified, specify one
transfer destination per line as follows.

X:/toshiba/system_data/dicom/online/cnvt_table

Example: When the host names of the radiation therapy planning systems are "Xio"
and "PLATO"

#
# hostname Mode
#
#
# hostname
# servier's hostname
··········
# Mode of this example (0x00000011) is strongly
recommended if you would like to set Relative Table Position.
#
Xio 0x00000011
PLATO 0x00000011

(4) Check method

<1> After setting has been completed, reboot the system.

<2> After the system power has been turned ON, perform 0 clear once.

Perform couch positioning so that the relative couch position (gantry operating panel
display value) and the absolute couch position (couch position when the system
power was turned ON) differ.

Perform scanning under these conditions and then transfer the obtained images to
the radiation therapy planning systems. Confirm that the relative couch position is
displayed at the radiation therapy planning systems.
