Yojana) scheme is a Government of India initiative focused
on the holistic development of heritage cities across India. It
aims to preserve the unique character of these historic urban
centers.

Funding and Assistance under
HRIDAY
Financial Assistance
Central and state governments provide funding for HRIDAY projects on a
60:40 cost-sharing basis.The central government allocates funds for specific
projects, including heritage conservation and infrastructure
improvements.State and municipal bodies share the cost of projects and
responsibilities.
Approved Projects
Over Rs. 100 crore has been sanctioned for HRIDAY projects in Maharashtra so far.
some structures improved include Raigad Fort, Ajanta Ellora Caves, Chandreshwar
Temples etc

HRIDAY projects in Maharashtra are expected to be completed within 24-36
months.

1. Aurangabad
● Ajanta and Ellora Caves: Improved infrastructure around these UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including better access
roads, upgraded visitor facilities, and enhanced lighting. These changes have made the sites more accessible and
visitor-friendly.
● Bibi Ka Maqbara: Conservation efforts have restored and preserved this Mughal monument, improving its structural
integrity and appearance, and enhancing the overall visitor experience.
2. Mumbai
● Shivaji Terminus: Restoration work has been completed on this iconic railway station, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The
project preserved its Victorian Gothic architecture and upgraded surrounding infrastructure, including enhanced signage
and better public amenities.
● Fort Area: The historical Fort area has seen improvements in street beautification, better public infrastructure, and
enhanced sanitation. This has revitalized the area and improved the experience for both locals and tourists.
3. Nashik
● Pandav Leni Caves: Conservation and infrastructure improvements around these ancient Buddhist caves have been made,
including better pathways and visitor facilities.
● Sula Vineyard Area: Enhancements in infrastructure and tourism facilities in the wine region have boosted local tourism
and provided better access for visitors.
