Certification Overview
This certification validates the ability to perform intermediate skill level tasks in
installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Dell PowerEdge Server
products.

Certification Requirements
To successfully complete this certification, a candidate must:

1. Have a sufficient knowledgebase/skill set through hands-on product


experience and/or by consuming the recommended training.

This exam validates the ability to perform intermediate skill level tasks in implementing, configuring, upgrading,
maintaining, and troubleshooting Dell PowerEdge Server products.

Server Portfolio and Features (10%)


• Define chassis form factors and numbering nomenclature
• Identify sever features and specifications
• Position the server in the market landscape

Server Components (26%)


• Define the different processor, memory options, and memory configurations
• Identify power options and redundancy features, thermal features, and liquid cooling
• Explain how expansion cards are connected and the features of the GPU, NDC, LOM, and OCP options
• Define storage options, Drives, PERC, IDSDM, and BOSS
• Analyze server security features

Server Management and Configuration Tools (14%)


• Define the function of the iDRAC, login procedures, licensing, and connection methods
• Explain the management interface options - LCC, racadm, OMSA, iSM, OME
• Define in-band and OOB management and at-the-box-management

System Administration (18%)


• Verify health status and iDRAC license
• Configure BIOS, Storage, virtual media, networking, user access, lockdown mode and group
management

Server Troubleshooting (32%)


• Analyze the visual indicators on server components - system ID, PSU, and BLINK
• Explain Easy Restore, diagnostic utilities, and hardware diagnostic options
• Export an SCP file and run a log collection
• Explain Configuration Validation, crash capture, and minimum to POST
• Explain the server logs and memory error
