If we all do our part in saving precious water supplies, we can make a huge difference for the
environment.

The average person uses around 140 litres of water a day. But huge water deficits are on track
to occur by the 2080s - so we need to start cutting down.

Water conservation means using water wisely and not contributing to unnecessary wastage.

Conserving water saves energy. Energy is needed to filter, heat and pump water to your home,
so reducing your water use also reduces your carbon footprint.

Using less water keeps more in our ecosystems and helps to keep wetland habitats topped up
for animals like otters, water voles, herons and fish. This is especially important during drought
periods and in areas like South East England where there is a big demand on water supplies.

In the picture we can see some people who are probably on a date. It looks like they are at a
fancy restaurant eating some nice food. It looks like might be ordering some deserts. Or maybe
they are ordering the main dish. We can see that they are currently eating salad. After this dinner
they will head home, or they can order some more food. We can see they are eating at the
restaurant at night since the sun has set.

Is ChatGPT a bad technology?

Many people have fantasized about how humanity will develop some sort of A.I. who will take over
the world and destroy humanity. This scenario is most likely not going to happen at any time soon
but the era of A.I is upon us. The so called ChatGPT is an A.I. who everyone can use for free. This A.I.
can almost do anything from writing essays to even calculate advanced equations. Is ChatGPT a
good technological achievement or will ChatGPT have a bad influence on our society?

On March 7th CBC News posted a YouTube video about their concerns about ChatGPT called
"ChatGPT software highlights advances, limitations of modern artificial intelligence".

Osh Momoh (MaRS Chief Technical Advisor) says that ChatGPT writes alarmingly close to how a
human would “ChatGPT software…” (00:23 – 00:28). He later on says that people who’s job is to
write small fictional stories can be augmented by ChatGPT. “ChatGPT software…” (00:40 – 00:49).
Melanie Mitchell (Santa Fe Institute computer science) says that “Technology tends to create jobs in
unexpected areas as it takes jobs away”. “ChatGPT software…” (00:59 – 01:06) She also mentions
how A.I. is not good at Distinguishing true sources from false sources. “ChatGPT software…” (01:15 –
01:20)

In december 2022 Vitomir Kovanovic wrote an article about how A.I.’s huge of an impact A.I. has on
our school system. He starts off the article writing about how it’s difficult for teachers to detect if an
A.I. wrote an essay or if it actually was a student. After ChatGPT released the creator of ChatGPT
started to work on a A.I. watermark so educators could check if it was an A.I. who wrote an
assignment for a student. But A lot of experts think that there will be some people who will crack
the code and find a way to remove the A.I watermark and sooner or later more A.I. maybe even
more advanced then Chat.GPT will pop up. “The dawn of AI has come…“(ll. 4-15). He then explains
how ChatGPT is a large language model (LLM) which is trained by reading gigantic amount of text
data. LLM works by giving it an input like a question and then it will answer with something that is
relatable to the question like answering the question. “The dawn of AI has come…“(ll. 20-27).

He also proceeds to write about how ChatGPT passed the “Amazon Web Service Certified Cloud
Practitioner exam” with a score of 800/1000 it takes 720 points to pass. This exam usually takes
around two to six months to prepare for. “The dawn of AI has come…“(ll. 34-35). The scary part
about this chatbot is that it is still in early development and sooner or later a new A.I. will be
released which will be way more advanced than the old one with up to 100 trillion parameters, this
number is close to the amount of neural connections we have in our brain. “The dawn of AI has

Vitomir then writes about how ChatGPT can make it harder for teachers to evaluate if the students
are good enough since most of the grading are done by handing over assignments such as essay etc.
All the written assignments can be written by an A.I. This makes it harder for the teacher to evaluate
if it is a student who wrote It or a chatbot. “The dawn of AI has come…“(ll. 51-63).

Also in December 2022, Stephanie Stacy wrote an article about how some teachers think that
ChatGPT won’t raise students grades as a matter of fact it would rather decrease them. Professor
Stuart Selber thinks that ChatGPT won’t take down higher education as we know it since all the
other technologies from the past has not ruined our higher education either. “Cheating on your
college essay…“(ll. 16-19). Selbert then refers to how everyone thought that using Wikipedia and
browsing the web also seemed alarming at one point in history. “Cheating on your college
essay…“(ll. 21-23). Selbert thinks that Chatgpt struggles to address issues, generating original
arguments and more. These are his main argument for why ChatGPT will not score high points on
essay writing. “Cheating on your college essay…“(ll. 25-31)

There are even some professors that think A.I. can be used to help students improve. Professor Leah
Henrickson thinks we can use A.I. to help students whose parent language is not English, to become
better and learn faster. It can also help student learn how to write more academically. “Cheating on
your college essay…“(ll. 43-49) Professor Henrickson says ”I’m optimistic. I think these tools, when
used mindfully, can really help our students see the world in new ways” “Cheating on your college
essay…“(ll. 63-64)

Overall, it sounds like ChatGPT is a useful tool. Of course, there are many concerns about how it can
remove some jobs or how it can destroy our education system but i think overall that ChatGPT will
have a positive impact on our society. Of course, there is a high probability that it might remove
some jobs but I think it might create some new ones. Since it’s such a new technology, there is still a
lot to improve. I think the biggest problem we have right now Is how many students abuse this
technology to work on these assignments instead of using it as a learning tool.
