CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHOD

The research method is a tool for solving problems that will

researched. According to Suharsimi Arikunto, the method is a method used by

researchers to collect research data. Meanwhile, according to Iskandar, the

research method describes the type of research approach.

This research is a type of classroom action research (CAR), which is

problem solving carried out by a teacher in the classroom. According to Arikunto

et al., class action research (PTK) is an examination of learning activities in the

form of an action that is deliberately raised and occurs in a class simultaneously.

According to Suharsimi Arikunto, classroom action research (CAR) is an

examination of learning activities in the form of an action that is deliberately

raised and occurs in a class simultaneously. Meanwhile, according to Hopkins,

class action research (CAR) is to help a person in practical ways overcome the

problems faced in emergency situations and help achieve the goals of social

science and education with cooperation in the framework of mutually agreed

ethics. The purpose of CAR research is to improve student learning outcomes,

improve the quality of learning conducted in class and outside the classroom,

improve the quality of teacher professional services in learning, develop skills for

critical thinking in solving learning problems in class, and encourage a research

culture among teachers.

This classroom action research method has several advantages and

disadvantages. According to Suwarsih Madya, PTK has several advantages,

namely:

1. Collaboration fosters a sense of belonging.

2. The interactions that existed during the implementation of CAR gave rise

to creativity and a critical attitude.

3. There is a stimulus to always change for the better.

4. The occurrence of democratic and dialogic cooperation

CAR also has several shortcomings, according to Asmani, namely:

1. Lack of knowledge and basic research skills possessed by teachers

2. The dual role of the teacher as a researcher as well as the teacher's routine

duties result in less effective and efficient use of time.

3. Heterogeneity, with the exception of group processes, makes it difficult to

find a suitable figure to become a leader.

In this study, the authors used a descriptive analysis method using a

quantitative method, namely the method used to get answers from the

relationships between the variables that will be examined systematically. This

method the authors use is because the techniques used are observation, tests, and

documentation, as well as to analyze efforts to improve using a detailed and

systematic formula. Learning outcomes in learning vocabulary in class V SDN 03

Koto Tangah.
A. Research Setting

a. Research Place

This classroom action research was conducted at SDN 03 Koto

Tangah, Kamang Magek District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province.

B. Research Subject

The research subjects chosen by the researcher for this study were 13

students in class V SD. And the subject of the action is the teacher-researcher.

C. Data dan Sumber Data

1. Data Type

a. Quantitative Data

The type of data obtained is quantitative data on the learning

comprehension of fifth grade students taken by giving an evaluation test

at the end of each cycle.

b. Qualitative Data

Qualitative data is obtained from student learning activities and

teacher activities in teaching and learning activities.

2. Data Source

In this Classroom Action Research the data source is :

a. Grade V student at SDN 03 Koto Tangah

b. Class V teacher at SDN 03 Koto Tangah

c. Document data includes a list of grade V student scores, student activities

in learning activities, and teacher activities in learning activities.

D. Data Collection Techniques

1. Observation

Observations were made by directly observing the conditions and

events that occurred during the research. Observations were made when

researchers carried out learning activities assisted by class III teachers as

observers. And the researchers themselves observed student behavior inside

and outside the classroom.

2. Test

The purpose of the test instrument is to show how far along students'

learning outcomes are in their development. Students will be given essays or

descriptions as part of this study's tests.

3. Dokumentation

Conducted by researchers to capture the classroom atmosphere, details

about events that occurred in the classroom during the teaching and learning

process.
