Nurse of the Month

Shared Value: Everyone Matters If you know Owen, you love Owen. He is positive, kind and uplifting to everyone he meets. He takes his
craft very seriously and believes in his soul that he has a responsibility to help those around him--

n Owen Ru
whether that means he helps them heal physically or just an opportunity to pray for them. Owen

ta comes from a healthcare family, and it has been a long-time dream for him to be a USRN. He has
worked very hard to get here. He volunteered for a full year before getting a paying job as a nurse in

Tris

the Philippines, and there are countless patients he helped cover costs for during his volunteer time
a

simply because he believed it was the right thing to do. He was always asking his mom for his
allowance money early so he could cover medication and IV Fluids for those in need. If that’s not a
heart of gold, I don’t know what is. It is no surprise that Owen gets so many shoutouts from his
patients. They say things like “Tristan is on top of everything. I never had to ask for anything twice
and he anticipated all our needs. I had the best experience at Tacoma General because of Tristan”.
His team members consistently recognize him for being “the first to check in with his peers, the first to
offer a helping hand, and the one always going above and beyond”. Owen, your hard work, passion
and dedication are truly inspiring. Your attitude of
gratitude also permeates every conversation and it’s
an honor to hear you talk about your dreams and goals.
It’s true that good things come to those who work
hard, but I believe the best things come to those who
remain humble and grateful, and you, my friend, are
such an asset to IGH and the entire MultiCare team.
Thank you for being you.

Katie thoroughly enjoyed this last month with all the opportunities she had to see our nurses at in-person events! Our PSR Nurses had a get together with
managers and peers at the park, several went over to Rhose’s for lunch, there was an FAAIE Filipino event put on in Spokane, and, of course, the Washington
State Fair (MHS provided each nurse with entrance tickets!) It was a busy month of fun!
