[Guide] How to setup FMCB

v1.966 with OPL for MX4SIO with

exFAT support
There's a genuine lack of easy reads on the topic, so here's my attempt at one.

This guide does not cover how to create a FMCB card.

At the time of writing this guide, version 1.2.0 is listed as latest (pre-release) on GitHub. exFAT
support was added in OPL v1.2.0, it won't work with 1.1.0 or older as 1.1.0 only supports FAT
formatting. If you wish to use an older release, MX4SIO only works with v1.1.0 and newer.
Check the change log of the version you wish to use to see if the features you want are present.

What you'll need:

 FMCB v1.966 Card

 MX4SIO Card
 MX4SIO Compatible SD Card
 USB Flash Drive

Setting up MX4SIO:

1. Format the SD Card to exFAT.

2. Create 2 folders, one named "CD" and another named "DVD". ISOs under 700mb go in
the CD folder (mirroring their real life capacity).

Installing OPL:

1. Format The USB Drive to FAT32.

2. Download OPL from the Open-PS2-Loader github. You want to grab the 7z file with just
the version listed on the name, not the variants/langs ones.
3. Extract the 7z file and copy the extracted directory to the USB Drive.
4. Insert the FMCB Card and the USB Drive on the PS2.
5. Launch uLaunchELF.
6. Navigate to the mass:/ drive and find the OPNPS2LD-vX.X.X.ELF file. If your USB
Drive doesn't show up, try using another port. If that doesn't work try formatting it again
but overwrite existing data this time.
7. Hover the cursor over the file and press R1, then copy the file.
8. Navigate to where your FMCB memory card is, go into the BOOT folder and copy the
OPNPS2LD-vX.X.X.ELF. It should be the "mc0:/" drive. If there's already an OPL file
there, press R1, delete it and paste the new one.
9. Return to the FMCB main menu, you can just restart your console after you paste the file.
10. Remove the USB Drive from the console before proceeding. Many people experience
problems in the proceeding steps if the USB drive is still plugged in.
11. Open "Free MCBoot Configurator", go to "Configure OSDSYS options..."
12. In Configure Item, scroll to the right and create a new entry for OPL. Name it "OPL" or
"OPNPS2LD [OPL]". In Path1, point it to the file you pasted previously. If your FMCB
card came preinstalled with OPL you can just change the path from the old file to the new
one.
13. Return to the Free MCBoot Settings screen (still in the configurator) and select "Save
CNF to mc0".
14. Reboot PS2.

Inside OPL Setup:

1. Open Menu and go to settings.

2. Change BMD Start Mode to Auto.
3. Go to Block Devices.
4. Make sure USB and MX4SIO are turned ON.
5. Go back to the Menu and Save Changes.

Your games should now show up inside OPL. Have fun!
