NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK 14th November - 20th November, 2022

National Library Week is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role of libraries &
librarians in transforming everyone’s life. Through access to numerous books, various
technologies, multimedia content, and activities, readers are given a new world in each library,
helping them to become their best selves.
The theme of National Library Week 2022, "Connect with Your Library" promotes the idea
that libraries are places to connect to technology." The overall message is an unambiguous call
to action, inviting communities to get involved, go to the library, or promote it.
ILA (Indian Library Association) declared November 14-20, as ‘National Library Week’ and
since 1968, a number of initiatives have been run to educate the public about libraries.

Activities during national library week


For undergraduate students: -
1. Quiz competition
2. Essay Competition

1. Quiz competition:
Eligibility: 1st & 2nd-year MBBS students, AIIMS, Rajkot
Date of quiz: 14th November,2022
Time:
- 1st-year Students: 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM
- 2nd -year Students: 03:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Venue: Lecture Theatre 1, Temporary campus- AIIMS, Rajkot
Date of Result Announcement: 14th November 2022
Certificate: A certificate will be presented to the winners and participants of this event on
26.01.2023 (Republic Day Celebration).

Event Details:
Two separate academic quizzes were conducted for 1st and 2nd-year MBBS students of AIIMS,
Rajkot. The questions covered a fair mix of significant past events, interesting current events,
and issues that will determine how the future would be approached. The session started with
the preliminary round, open to all the students. Based on the result of the preliminary round, 3
teams comprising 3 students in each team qualified for the main quiz. It was comprised of total
4 rounds. The quiz for 1st year was conducted by Dr. Vinay Chitturi, Assistant professor –
Physiology, AIIMS, Rajkot. The quiz for the second year was handled by library committee
members. The entire event was successfully managed under the guidance and leadership of
Dr. Rohin Garg, Associate professor – Anatomy, AIIMS, Rajkot.

2. Essay competition:
Topic: Role of digital technology in medical education
Instruction for students:
• Every student of 1st & 2nd year MBBS can participate.
• An essay should be a maximum of 1000 words.
• Students must be submitting their essays from 14th to 17th November 2022.
• An essay must be handwritten.
• Preferred language for essay writing: Hindi or English.
• Preferably essay should be written on A4 size paper.

Eligibility: 1st & 2nd-year MBBS students, AIIMS, Rajkot


Submission Date: 14th to 17th November,2022
Certificate: A certificate will be presented to the winners and participants of this event on
26.01.2023 (Republic Day Celebration).

Event Details:
Students of 1st and 2nd year registered their names for the essay competition and submit their
handwritten essays between 14th to 17th November, 2022 to committee member of Central
Library.

Content (Relevance to the theme, Comprehensiveness, Originality, Insights)
Relevance to the theme - connection, significance of the issue being discussed
Comprehensiveness - how complete and detailed the writer's exposition of the topic.
Originality - uniqueness, novelty and authenticity of ideas\
Insights - a fresh way of looking at things, critical view of the subject
Mechanics (Punctuation, Spelling, Capitalization, Grammar)
