WHAT IS MEAN BY A DRONE?
Most people think of drones as "buzz machines" that are increasingly used for video and
photography, but in practice their application is far more.
The word "drone" refers to all unmanned aerial vehicles that are remotely controlled.
A drone has many forms, many functions, a body that carries electronics, a battery, a flight
propeller, and control system.
Most drones are quadcopters with 4 or more propellers, and military drones are single
propeller.
Drone control is done through different systems: antennas, satellites and mobile applications.

DRONES BY SIZE:
Nano and micro drones (weight 10 kg, flight 60 min, height - up to 1 km) - 20-50 cm- small,
maneuverable, used for espionage, suitable
for pilot training
Mini drones (weight 10-50kg, flight 2-3h, height - 3-5km) - 50cm-2m - low price, good tech.
features, research
Medium drones (weight 1t, flight 10-12h, height 9-10km) - 2-10m - smaller and lighter than
airplanes, 200kg load capacity, powerful engines, required permit, license and training
Heavy drones (weight 1t, flight up to 1 day, height - 20km) - over 10m - size of a small plane,
military missions, equipped with weapons, photographic system

Advantages and disadvantages of drones
Advantages
It can be controlled remotely and via a computer
It is used in reconnaissance missions and actions
High-quality materials for construction
Longer flight time
Disadvantages
There are age restrictions for use
Higher price
They charge more slowly
Advantages and disadvantages of quadcopters
Advantages
There are no age restrictions
It is possible to take photos and videos
They charge quickly
Disadvantages
It cannot be controlled by the on-board computer
They are used mainly for entertainment - they are not suitable for rescue missions
The battery cannot last longer

A drone powered by an internal combustion engine
A type of drone uses an internal combustion engine, which uses fuel to power the
propellers.
This type of drone is often used for military purposes, where there are drones that use
piston engines or even rocket fuel.
These drones have a larger radius of movement and are usually used in specific
military operations.
The Shahed 136 is an Iranian military unmanned aerial vehicle known as an
autonomous pusher-propeller drone known as Geran-2 in the Russian version
designed by HESA Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company in collaboration
with Shahed Aviation Industries.
The front part contains a warhead estimated at 30-40 kilograms.
The drone is 3.5 meters long, with a wingspan of 2.5 meters, flies at a speed of over
185 km/h, and weighs about 200 kilograms.

The MD-550 engine is the heart of the Shahed 136 drone
The engine is an aircraft engine developed by Limbach, Germany, now manufactured in
China and Iran
It is a four-cylinder, horizontally mounted, air-cooled engine suitable for installations in
both aircraft and smaller agricultural machinery.

The engine specifications of the MD-550 are impressive:
Power of 37 kW (50 hp) at 7500 rpm.
Cylinder diameter of 66 mm (2.60 inches) and piston stroke of 40 mm (1.57 inches).
Volume of 548 cm3/ 33.44 cubic inches.
Cast aluminum crankcase.
Aluminum alloy pistons, reinforced.
Aluminum alloy cylinders with ceramic coating.
Ignition on the starter.
Simultaneous ignition of both cylinders.
Four-diaphragm carburetors, without pawls.
Starter 12 V, 0.3 kW and battery 28 V, 1200 W.
Motor weight of about 16 kg with battery.
The fuel it uses is 100LL or 90 RON blend.
The ignition system is protected, with long and short elbows, and exhaust pipes.
