R Recommended to be completed within 12 months in the company as a certificated officer.
NIS Should not be considered in the utilization as the course is mostly for external clients. WMTC is NMA approved for NIS since January 1996. Container/PCC Securing and Safety Awareness Course for Officers
and Crew is only for Vessel Type conversion.
WSM Orientation course includes following topics: Wallem Safety Management System, Emergency Organisation, Hot work, Enclosed Lifeboatd, Port State Control, Security,
MARPOL - WMCP and NPDES, MLC 2006 / Work and Rest Hours, Accident Prev'n - LTI, BBS and PPE
Command and Leadership course will also include 2/Os and 3/Es who are stepping into the senior rank position on promotion.
All Engineers incl. Electrical Engineers joining without the experience of Cam-less engine will attend PLC/SCADA and RT flex, MAN, B&W Course as applicable prior joining as far as practicable.

Notes 1. BTM Course done at approved institutes (applicable to India sub-con, Odessa, and Russia in the last 2 years will be accepted for the next 3 years subject to a generic navigation test.

2. Wallem Bridge Procedures course (duration 2 days) will be mandatory for all 2/Os and 3/Os. This is applicable to new and rejoiners who will attend BTM at WMTC from October 2014.
Presently the course will be available at WMTC Mumbai, Odessa and later in all other manning centers in India sub-con.

3. The Wallem Software System course will be comprising of 3 days mandatory for new joiners. 2 days of SMMS and 1 day Wallem Software. 2 separate certificates will be issued.

4. The TOV course is being renamed as Vetting, Port State Control and Third Party Inspection course. It will be a 2 days course applicable to all ranks, all type of vessels.
This course will be available at all WMTCs within India, Odessa and subsequently at other manning centers in India sub-con once we have the right faculty.

5. The course marked M* means that the officer has to complete the course if possible before joining or else the course can be taken on board a vessel within one month of joining (M* = Must do or + one month) by CBT.
Till such time, the M* courses will have to be done in the WMTCs. In cases where CBTs are not available and the officer has to join urgently, he may be briefed on board on the topics covered in the course by the Master.
The Master then has to send a detailed report of the topics covered on board to FP which has to be uploaded in to the shipmate. This has to be done on board within 1 month of joining.
There will be several CBTs available by mid of next year for on board training.

6. Safety Officers Training and Environmental Officers Training done on Board will be accepted for good, no need to again attend the courses at WMTC.
Chief Officers joining Tankers will have to complete SOT at WMTCs before joining to satisfy SIRE - VIQ requirements.

7. For officers who have done 2 or more contracts waiver will be given to certain courses if the officer is able to answer a subjective question paper and score ore than 80% marks.
e.g. If an officer has completed 2 contracts and not attended a WSM Orientation or an SMMS course, he will give a question paper and if he/she scores more than 80% in the paper a certificate will be issued.

8. The course matrix will be reviewed every 3 - 4 months.
