My Busy Daily Routine

Pre-Reading Questions
Do you like your daily routine? Why (not)?

Say 5 things you do every day.

Do you need more time to relax? Why?

My name is Lily and I’m 14 years old. I have a very busy

daily routine, I never stop! I usually wake up at seven o’clock
and I get ready for another day at school. First, I go to the
bathroom. I brush my teeth and I wash my face with cold
water. I feel very lazy in the morning! Then, I go to the
kitchen to eat breakfast. I prepare breakfast for me and my
brother John. I usually make some toast with eggs and ham.
After that, I pack my school bag and walk to school with my
friend Paul. He’s my neighbour so we always go together.

At school, we learn science and literature for the first two

hours. Later on, we have a small break where I sit with my
friends to talk. We sometimes play football when we have
a ball. After the break, we learn art and history. When my
dad doesn’t prepare lunch for us, I often have lunch at the
canteen.

When I finish school at three o’clock, I go back home with

Paul again. When I arrive, I do my homework and get ready
for my piano lesson. I love playing the piano. One day, I want
to become a musician. Finally, in the evening, I have dinner
with my family. We talk about our day. When I go to bed, I
read a book to relax from my busy day. At ten o’clock I go to
sleep, I need to be ready for the next day!

Disclaimer: This resource has been made for the purpose of teaching English language learners. We know that students can be learning English in many different places, in many different ways and at age,
so we try to keep these resources as general as possible.
There are many acronyms associated with English language teaching. These include (but are not limited to) ELT, TEFL, EFL, ELL, EAL and ESOL. While the term ESL may not fully represent the linguistic
backgrounds of all students, it is the most widely recognised term for English language teaching globally. Therefore, we use the term ‘ESL’ in the names of our resources to make them easy to find but they are
suitable for any student learning to speak English.
