I. REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

1. My summary about what I have learnt

After participating in workshops and field trips, I am able to develop my skills and
learn a lot of new things like: various skills, job tendency, how to know about my ability
and the field I am good in. From this, I could gravitate towards a concrete job in the near
future. Additionally, the participation of former students have encouraged me to cope
with inevitable challenges I could face.
First of all, I have got access to the concept “Ikigai” - a framework to find purpose
in life. The Japanese concept ikigai reinforces the role that purpose plays in our lives. The
word originated in Okinawa, Japan - a combination of “iki” - meaning life and “gai” -
meaning value or worth. Applying the ikigai framework to learning plays a fundamental
part in increasing motivation, momentum and focus. It is essentially a pathway that can
lead to individual purpose. In addition, I have had great opportunities to comprehend
critical thinking, discover my values, know about seven good habits, especially SMART
goals for my future job and a lot of useful skills as well. Finally, I had a wonderful
chance to visit Sunhouse group which is about producing and trading household items
and home appliances, essential kitchen. They have become a friendly brand in the minds
of Vietnamese consumers.

2. Critical reflection
First and foremost, I have got access to the philosophy of “Ikigai”. It assists me in
finding meaning of lives and comprehending the significance of work I would take over.
Simultaneously, the workshops confirm to me the difficulty of the way to get the
combination of aspects. Nevertheless, I am going to make efforts to better my career
prospects.
Next, former students are really enthusiastic. Their knowledge and experience in
various enterprises inspires me a lot. They help me choose a suitable job, update the latest
job tendency and define my ability. These are indispensable factors to better myself and
assist me to always be ready for my challenges. More importantly, it is very useful when
a lot of websites which assist to define the type of suitable job are also shown to all of us
in workshops.
Besides, critical thinking that I have learnt is also a key for career success. It helps
people analyze information and plan systematically.. Moreover, critical thinking
enhances language and presentation skills. Thinking clearly and systematically can
improve the way I express our ideas. In learning how to analyze the logical structure of
texts, critical thinking also improves comprehension abilities. Critical thinking is valued
both in the university setting and in the professional situations I will find myself in after I
graduate, and is part of lifelong learning. Critical thinking is important in life. It helps me
to think creatively – ‘outside the box’. It can keep me from becoming narrow-minded.
Critical thinking is really expected of me in higher education. It can lead to developing
my judgment, evaluation and problem solving abilities. It is undeniable that critical
thinkers always make the best choices.
Last but not least, SMART goals. I have comprehended the way to achieve my
goals on time. Knowing how much time I have to accomplish a goal makes me more
likely to do what I need to do to get it done on time. If I do not set a solid time frame for
our goals, I am less likely to see our plans through, continually putting them off for
tomorrow. The sad thing is, tomorrow may never come. So, with any goal or project,
one of the most important things to know is “how much time we have to complete it.”
Moreover, the field trip to the business also overwhelmed me and my goal of
working in a top-notch corporation has been strengthened.

II. ACADEMIC PERSPECTIVE

Workshops and field trip brought about wonderful opportunites for students like
me to know well in various fields, and how to graduate with flying colors and what
students do to have a stable job in time coming. The knowledge and concepts I have
taught were so practical that I am free to discover and see things in my own unique way.
Besides, seeing how experts apply their practical and straightforward methods for
dealing with the challenge they deal with, skills and working techniques was an eye-
opening experience for me. More importantly, they have confirmed that I need to
comprehend the indispensable awareness to succeed in. I realized my strengths in
communication and negotiation after being imparted knowledge at seminars. And of
course I also have a weakness of not knowing how to study and work more effectively,
being persistent and easily becoming stressed when facing difficulties especially my
shortage of business knowledge. Consequently, I have to make a lot of effort to improve
it because the outstanding marketer I want to become will always be brave to face
challenges as well as go on trying to maintain and reinforce my strength. Last but not
least, I have to learn the way to combine theoretical knowledge in reality.

III. PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE

Workshops and trip have been very inspiring and I am really feeling grateful to
have been able to be a part of this and try to continue with the way to approach fields
related to my dream job. Seminars and field trip to “Sunhouse” group were interesting,
effective and strategic workshops, which has provided me a platform to learn about
different fields of the job, basically how to have my own future. Thing making I love
them is that they act like an awareness programme, which make students more feel
comfortable and comprehend concepts easily

I reckon that I learnt a lot about job tendencies, various skills and how to define
my ability, and they all were really useful especially through useful and essential
concepts. Not something I find myself saying about workshops very often! It was
relevant for us all – students with the dream of a future job. All enjoy and learn a lot in a
comfortable environment. On the other hand, I used to be quite subjective when I thought
that the knowledge I learned was enough so that I could develop myself. But what
surprised me was the information presented through the concepts. They are truly perfect
although it takes time to fully comprehend. Finally, I have faced many problems when I
define my future, but now I am much better and confident to deal with challenges.
