Critical Attributes of the 21st Century Education
Creating/Adapting to constant personal and social
change, and lifelong learning
it should not end with requirement compliance and passing the
exams, but also for transferring and applying knowledge to a
new context or real life situations. As such, the curriculum
should be planned in such a way that students will continue to
learn even outside school for life.
Critical Attributes of the 21st Century Education
Student-centered
Education in the 21st Century is
focused on students as learners.
It is tailor-fit to address the
individual learning needs of each
student.
Critical Attributes of the 21st Century Education
What are learning needs?
Learning needs are the gaps or challenges that students face in
acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for a specific
learning outcome. Learning needs can vary depending on the student's
prior knowledge, learning style, motivation, interests, strengths,
weaknesses, and background. Learning needs can also change over
time as students progress and encounter new content and tasks.
Critical Attributes of the 21st Century Education
1. Making connections
This strategy involves connecting what you're
reading to your own experiences, other books
you've read, or events in the world.
There are three main types of connections:
Kawikaan 1:7
“Ang paggalang at pagsunod kay Yahweh ay pasimula ng
karunungan,
ngunit walang halaga sa mga mangmang ang aral at
mga saway.”
There are three main types of connections:
Text-to-World: Relating the text to events or
issues in the world around you.
2 Timothy 3:1-2
You must understand that in the last days there will
come times of much trouble. 2 People will love themselves
and money. They will have pride and tell of all the things
they have done. They will speak against God. Children
and young people will not obey their parents. People will
not be thankful and they will not be holy.
Basic Strategies for Developing Literacy
2. Visualizing
Visualizing is the process of creating mental
images or "movies" in your mind based on the
descriptions in the text. This strategy helps
readers better understand and remember what
they're reading by making it more vivid and
engaging.

Example;
3. Inferring
Inferring involves drawing conclusions or
making educated guesses based on evidence and
clues provided in the text. It requires readers to
use their background knowledge and the
information presented in the text to make logical
interpretations about characters, events, and
themes.

Skills and Teaching Resources
Emergent Literacy
Emergent literacy is a term used to explain a child's knowledge of reading
and writing skills before the formal instructions begin.
Teaching Resources
Teaching Resources are tools and materials that teachers use to help
students.
Teaching Strategies
Teaching refers to the methods and approaches used to facilitate learning in
the classroom.
Pictures and objects
-Teaching with objects offers a direct tactile
experience for students.
Letter and Words
-This instruction should include activities where
children learn to identify and name letters and words.
SOUNDS
1. Children start to develop this early decoding ability in
early childhood
2. The ability to decode words is strongly reliant on
children having strong phonological awareness skills,
which are a gateway into letter-sound knowledge.
3. Early phonics knowledge is the key to starting to
decode written words. Children can use phonics
knowledge to “sound
READ ALOUD EXERIENCE
1. Read stories to students out loud - students are able to
“identify behaviors associated with effective listening”
2. Social communication about the book afterwards helps
promote language learning and development (Jalong, 21,
p. 6)
3. Reading a variety of text out loud: student can use their
inquisitiveness to ask question and be problem solvers
by predicting solutions.
Thank you for
listening.
