Test session procedure


To participate in the second stage of the Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project, you
must follow the instructions below.

Test sessions do not affect the final result of the second stage of the Open Doors
Russian Scholarship Project.
You can take test sessions an unlimited number of times before the start of the
main testing session in order to make sure that the proctoring system is working
correctly.
1. Make sure you have the latest version of Google Chrome browser installed (you can find
the installation distribution by link https://www.google.com/chrome/).
2. Using Chrome, go to the Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project website and then log
in in your personal account https://od.globaluni.ru/login.
3. Find the block "The second stage". If you have already uploaded your photo and a scan
of your ID and familiarized yourself with the Rules and guidelines for the proctored test of
the Second stage of the Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project, the button “Test session
of the second stage” will become active on the second stage page - click it to proceed to
the test session.

4. System will automatically check your computer for meeting basic requirements. Your
browser will then request access to the camera, microphone, and screen of your computer.
To share the screen, you need to click on the thumbnail of your screen and then the
"share" button.

5. The technical check can take up to 3 minutes. In case of success, all checkpoints
will be green. If there are technical problems, the checkpoints will be marked red.
System will give you recommendations on how to fix specific issues.

When the check is complete, you will be advised to watch the test video and to check audio
recordings. If the test recording does not start automatically, press the Play button in the
built-in player. When playback is complete, you will be prompted to agree or disagree with
the test results.

In the upper part of the technical check block, "Proctoring FAQ" button is available for you.
Pressing this button will open a special section in a new tab with recommendations for
solving typical problems. If you cannot solve the issue by yourself, please contact us via
email [email protected] or Telegram @MIPT_proct (but not both). Detailed
description and screenshots will speed up the process.

Remember, if you not fix your issues it may affect your results of the proctored test of the
second stage of the Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project.

6. In case everything is fine you need to press the “Technical readiness checked” button.
This action will trigger the start of the second part of the technical check, which is a short
test. You need to share your screen once again and after that, the system will give you
several test questions. Your answers will not affect the final results of the Open Doors
Russian Scholarship Project. This test session is needed for you to familiarize yourself with
the MIPT proctoring system interface.

7. After you will provide the answers, you can click on the "Complete" button in the upper
right corner. You will need to confirm the completion of the session.

System requirements

1. PC or laptop. Mobile phones and tables are strictly forbidden.


2. Internet connections with a stable (without interruptions during the second stage
testing session) data transfer rate from the user and to the user of at least 1 Mbit / s when
tested on the MIPT proctoring system website.
3. The following systems are supported - Windows 10 / 8.1 / 8/7, Mac OS X 11 or
higher, Linux OS. It is recommended to use Windows OS.
4. A processor with two or more cores. RAM - from 4 GB for Windows XP - Windows 7
and 6 GB for Windows 8 - Windows 11.
5. Webcam with a minimum resolution of 0.5 Megapixels and a capture rate of 25
frames per second.
6. A working microphone (can be built into a laptop / external connected to a computer
/ built into a webcam / other).

7. Google Chrome 72+ browser. It is forbidden to use the incognito mode of the
browser. It is also forbidden to use the built-in browser translator (you should disable it in
the settings). The usage of the translator will lead to misinterpretation of the task texts.

Participant's actions in case of technical problems


with the MIPT proctoring system
1. In case of a problem arise during the technical check please read it carefully as it usually
contains the solution. Try to solve this issue by yourself using those recommendations.
2. There is an F.A.Q. page available for you. It contains recommendations for the most
common cases. You can access it using this link https://exams.mipt.ru/help/faq.
3. In case you cannot solve a problem by yourself please feel free to contact MIPT
proctoring technical support team via Telegram @MIPT_proct or the email
[email protected]. When contacting us, be sure to indicate your login from the
Open Doors Russian Scholarship Project website (the email address you use to log in) and
your full name. Detailed description and screenshots will allow us to solve the problem
faster.

During testing sessions, the Telegram chat will work much faster than email. But
usually, the waiting time will be approximately the same.

It is FORBIDDEN to use a mobile phone during the testing session, even if you write to
technical support. However, you can install the Telegram application on your computer or
use the web version of it (available at https://web.telegram.org/). We ask you not to write
to the email and Telegram at the same time, since by doing this, you increase the
response time for all users, including yourself.

Passing the proctored test of the second stage of the Open Doors
Russian Scholarship Project
During the main second stage testing session, procedures of connecting to a session,
entering answers, and completing a session are the same as for a test connection. You
need to show your ID upon entering or during the testing session for not less than 20
seconds to the camera.

We recommend you to prepare your workplace


in advance. Make sure you have adequate
lighting. Warn your family/ neighbors not to
come into your room and make noise.
The main part is to position yourself in a way so
that your hands and your face are constantly
visible to the proctor. If you use a laptop, you
can connect a webcam to it via USB, while the
main camera should be disabled in Device
Manager.
If for some reason this is not possible, you
should position yourself further away from your
laptop in order to get into the frame. In this
case, you might need to increase the scale of the page in the browser (the combination of
the "Ctrl" and "+" keys) and stretch the mouse towards you to have control of your
computer.
We understand that positioning in front of the camera as shown in the picture can be
tricky, so do not worry if you fail. Just try to find the position that suits best.
