GENERAL INFORMATION
General information
Deep freezers are purpose-built cold storage units de§igned for safe storage of temperature
sensitive products such as vaccines & medications. Also known as Deep-grade freezers, these
units are constructed & thoroughly tested to provide stable temperatures.
Deep freezers maintain temperatures(-) 25°C to(-) 15°C, to store vaccines and freeze ice packs.
Deep Freezers are required at various level of health facilities to store vaccine and prepare ice
packs required for passive cooling in vaccines carriers and cold boxes:
Technical data
See the rating plate, which is placed at the rear side of the appliance.
Unpacking
1. Unpack the appliance and check that it has not been damaged. If you observe any
damage, inform Rockwell Customer Care.
2. Check the rating for correct voltage and frequency.
3. Open and remove all internal packing material.
Location
The appliance must be placed in a well ventilated room, not in direct sunlight and away
from other heating sources.
When installing the appliance please ensure that the floor is level or adjust legs for
uniform level.
Voltage stabilizers
It is highly recommended that all cold chain equipment running on AC current is installed
with a voltage stabilizer, in order to safeguard the equipment against voltage fluctuations.
Stabilizers should be selected & installed as per the input voltage available recommended
by manufacturer.
Instructions to User:
● Every refrigeration unit must be connected to an individual stabilizer.
● Bypassing of Stabilizer is not recommend, as such practice may lead to damage of the
CCE & in turn safety of vaccines & hence must be avoided.
● Power source with proper earthing should be available and well connected.
● Call authorized service provider in case technical assistance is required.
Electrical connection:
● Wiring and connections in power supply systems must be as per all applicable (local
and national) electrical codes. Consult these codes lengths and sizes prior to cabinet
installation.
● Connect the appliance to voltage stabilizer and connect voltage stabilizer to power
socket. 8
TM
a. Do not start the machine for at least 3 hrs after taking delivery.
b. Charge the UPS / Inverter fully before connecting it to the machine.
For voltage stabilizer this is not required.
c. Connect the UPS input to Raw/main power and the machine to UPS output.
d. Start the machine in empty / no load condition for 2-3 hrs or till it reaches the factory
set / desired temperature.
e. Now the machine is ready for loading vaccines. Do not over load the machine and
keep open spaces so that proper air circulation may take place.
f. If the door is not closed properly, the internal temperature may cross 8⁰C and the
buzzer alarm will be activated. At that time, press the “reset” button on the Digital
Temperature Controller located on the control panel.
g. The buzzer alarm is set for 2⁰C to 8⁰C. If there is a violation, the buzzer will give an
alarm. At the time, precaution is to be taken to prevent any damage to the stored items
and if the buzzer does not stop with in 5 minutes then call the company technician.
h. Ambient room temperature to be maintained below 38°C.
Are you shifting your place or going on vacation? If yes, then,
1. Before shifting, get the machine duly inspected and packed. This will keep it safe
while shifting.
2. The machine should always be transported in an upright position.
Please take care of the following before cleaning:
* Before cleaning, always switch off the power supply and remove the plug from the
socket.
* Take out all items from the machine.
* Use mild liquid detergent solutions or a synthetic detergent to clean all the parts and the
inside outside of the machine.
* Wipe dry with soft cloth. Leave the door open for a while.
* Plug-in the power cord and switch on. Allow the machine to cool for 3 hours.
Warnings:
1. To avoid the risk of children getting trapped and therefore suffocating, do not allow
them to play around or hide inside the cabinet.
2. Do not spray or wash the machine. Do not put the machine in moist places as this may
affect the electrical insulation properties of the machine.
3. Avoid switching on/off the appliance consecutively to prevent damage to the
compressor.

Starting procedure
Connect the Freezer/Refrigerator to the voltage stabilizer and voltage stabilizer to the
main power socket.
The red light must turn on to indicate that the appliance is operating.
The thermostat has time delay. It takes 3 to 4 mins time before the compressor starts.
Cool down of the appliance
Before the appliance is loaded with vaccines/madicines etc., confirm weather the
appliance is reached required temperature.
To ensure that the Freezer/Refrigerator is frozen do the following:
1. Place a thermometer in the top basket.
2. Let the Freezer/Refrigerator run for at least 96 Hours before loading vaccine.
3. Check the temperature in the vaccine compartment (must be between +2°C and
+8°C).
The temperature in the vaccine compartment must always be monitored by the
thermometer and be within the range of +2°C to +8°C.
Temperature control
It is recommended to check the inside temperature with an accurate thermometer twice
a day.
The inside temperature must be checked regularly according to WHO’s standards and
specifications.
Electronic thermostat
The appliance has an electronic thermostat that controls the temperature in the vaccine
compartment.
The thermostat is factory set as default at what in most ambient environments will keep
the vaccine compartment within desired thresholds of +2⁰C to +8⁰C.
Thermostat adjustment (Warning!)
The thermostat is required in the event of adjustments, then it is to be performed only
by trained \cold chain technicians.
10
TM
Daily maintenance:
The temperature in the vaccine compartment must always be monitored on the
thermometer every day.
Please note that the vaccine in the appliance must not freeze.
Weekly maintenance:
During normal use, water can accumulate at the bottom of the appliance; remove with
a cloth or through the drainage hole.
Wipe off water droplets on the inside wall at the same time.
Check if lid gasket is sealing tight to the top frame when the lid is closed.
A tight sealing lid reduces accumulation of water and formation of moist /
condensation significantly.
Cleaning
Disconnect the power supply before cleaning. The best way to clean the appliance is by
using luke warm water with a small amount of unscented detergent.
Never use cleaning agents that scour. Use a soft cloth. Rinse with clean water and dry
thoroughly. It is important to prevent water from running into the control panel.
The gasket around the lid must be cleaned regularly to prevent discolouration and
prolong service life.
Use clean water. After cleaning the sealing strip, check that it continues to provide a
tight seal.
If the appliance is not being used for any period of time, switch off the appliance,
disconnect the power supply, empty the appliance, clean the inside, and leave the lid
open to allow air circulation to prevent bad odor.
Loading vaccines
When the temperature in the vaccine compartment has stabilized, i.e. the temperature
is between +2°C and +8°C and the compressor stops and starts, vaccines can be loaded.
The vaccines should be placed and arranged in the proper storage packs or in baskets
with air gaps in between boxes for free flow of cold air circulation.
To ensure air-circulation and prevent too low vaccine temperature, direct contact to the
inside walls must be avoided. The Vaccine load in the baskets shall not be above top of
the baskets.

2. The ventilation grill is blocked. The lid is not closed properly.
The temperature in the room in which the appliance is installed is too high.
3. The condenser & ventilation grill is blocked. The lid is not closed properly.
The temperature in the room in which the appliance is installed is too high and
air ventilation is very poor
Remedy
If this is not the case, check the following:
1. Check that power is connected, Check the fuse and replace it if necessary.
If the above is OK, call technical supervisor.
2. Ensure unhindered air circulation. Ensure that the lid is closed properly and
locked. Shield the appliance against direct sun light and ensure more
ventilation to the room.
3. Change the micro processor control unit.
Check power socket - Check power plug is connected.
