Job Application

A job application is a formal document submitted by a candidate to an


employer expressing interest in a position. It typically consists of a cover
letter and a resume (or bio-data) and serves as the first step in the hiring
process. A job application aims to present your qualifications, skills, and
experiences to the employer to secure an interview.

Content of Cover letter:

Para 1 :

1. Begin with mentioning the source of information about the job (from
where you got to know the job) along with the day, date and
advertisement number (if any). Also mention the post you wish to
apply for.
Example- ‘With reference to the advertisement published in the (name
of the newspaper), dated (date), I would like to apply for the post of
(name of the post) in your (firm/organization/institution)

Para 2 :

1. Offer your candidature by briefing about your qualifications,


achievements, previous experiences, and your strengths. Share your
interests and competence level. (This para has to answer the question
‘How are you the perfect candidate for the job?’)
(Key words that can be used – young, dynamic, good communication
skill, committed to hard work, etc.)
Make it to the point and clear.
It should not sound boastful.

Para 3:

1. Make a reference to the photograph (passport sized), Resume /


Biodata/ Curriculum Vitae and other detailed documents that you
have enclosed.
2. Appeal for a one on one interview.
3. End it with a promising note. Eg, looking forward to your positive
response.

ENCLOSURES

Mention the name of the documents and testimonials attached along with
the cover letter. They may include the followings:-

 Photograph (passport sized)


 Resume or Bio data or CV
 Copies of Certificates
 Any other documents.

Bio-data/Curriculum Vitae/Resume is an integral part of the job application. It


is divided into four parts as follows:

 Experiences
